DDs

Hey, I know from nosying round this loveky forum that people don't ever recommend doing two DDs in a row but has anyone ever tried this & if so did it have any effect?

Also, been so busy with work that I haven't had time to watch the Horizon programme, but from reading posts it sounds as if they covered multiple day fasting - did they show at all whether this was any better / worse than alternate day fasting (both in terms of health & weight loss)?

Thanks!

Em.

I didn't actually watch the programme but it is available on Iplayer if you are interested. All I know about Alternate day fasting or Juddd is that fasting for longer than a day can put your body into starvation mode, when your body is in starvation mode it stores its fat reserves, we don't want that, with juddd your body learns that the fast is temp and food is coming soon so it uses its fat reserves to fuel your DD s. I did 2 together once as I needed to swap days around etc I did lose that week but not an excessive amount and I found it quite hard. I think the programme did 2 days fast this would have just a calorie defecit effect, with alternate days you get an inch loss effect which far outweighs any 'weight' lost, i'e it seems to be the norm that you lose 'size' quicker than weight.
Its your body you can try out any pattern you wish, I can only comment on what I have experience with x Don't know f this helps at all ?

I just wouldn't want to do a 2 day fast... ewww :p

I dont think that *up down down* would be as effective as *down up down* I notice that if I have two UD's in a row I'll not have as big a gain the second day, so I would imagine you wouldn't have a great loss on a 2nd DD.

The doc talked about bog standard calorie counting, then went on to talk about 3 day fasts once a month (which he hated) and then went on to talk about the 5:2 fast. Exploring the different options, and he found the alternate day (he did 5:2) was just as successful lowering all the nasty blood counts, but never differentiatied between the two in terms of weight loss. :)

Dr Mosley has just posted this on Twitter
@DrMichaelMosley has a comparison been done 5:2 v straight caloric reduction equivalent to 5:2?" not to 5:2 but to ADF. ADF did better

I did Brad Pilon's Eat Stop Eat which is basically 5:2. Results were similar to when I first did JUDDD. But your fast day meal isn't limited in calories so easy to go nuts.

Han you are exactly the same as me, I seem to gain wildly after my first weekend UP then STS or a 1lb gain after the second, also if I have a small gain I have a small loss, working on sorting that one out but undecided how at the mo lol

I decided to try two DDs this week. Today was my second, didn't find it too hard but am now feeling exhausted (though that's partly due to working very long hours this week). Just disovered a really filling lovely DD meal - there was a reduced price cook from scratch crayfish laska in sainsburys so I bought it and added a load of broccoli. With that, it wss a big portion & tasted very rich & creamy. All for under 300kcal :)

The reason I thought about a double DD is because I'm going out Friday & Saturday & seeing my boyfriend Sunday so thibk I'd struggle to make any of those DDs. And don't really want 3 UD/ID in a row.
