DIARY CLOSED.

dont be just eyeing up your wrap on ig lol, ill go get some lunch in a bit hehe x

I know, just realised I'm having a wrap for both lunch and dinner today lol! Oh well, it's what I fancied. I was going to have noodles for lunch but Mother Nature has been visiting and my tummy's still a bit funny - I was craving bread and a bit of stodge. Going to make myself a cup of tea now and hope that the warmth from that will help to soothe my tummy a little. This is the only thing I dislike about the implant. My periods are so irregular. I only ever get maybe 4 or 5 in a year, but when I do get them they are hellish! xx

oh its your implant that makes it like that, if not i was gonna say go get checked out, mine used to be really irregular, but better now, but i have pcos. still hellish tho, and a bit of what you fancy often does you good. xx ps hope the tummy settles soon xx

Yeah, I was warned when I got my first implant 6 years ago that this could happen. To be honest, the positives outweight the bad as I love not having a period at all for most of the year. I guess Mother Nature just likes a bit of pay-back when she does arrive lol! Thanks hun. I'm sure it's nothing a nice warm cuppa and maybe a bit of chocolate can't solve :) xx

Well done on the loss, that's a fab result. x

I've got the implant & until say earlier this year my periods were hit & miss, they are more regular now but that's due to the menopause!!

Thanks Michelle, I'm over the moon!

P.S. I loved the travel / charm bracelet you had shared on FB with Lydia at the weekend. I think that's a fab idea and what a nice way to "store" all of your memories. If I had been to more places I'd definitely buy one myself! x

I saw them in my travel mag, but had to ask Lydia if it was ok for somebody of my age to wear them, lol. We're both getting the starter pack & I'll ask for vouchers for my birthday (Jan) so I can get a few more countries, happy days :D x

Hi Stevie... I hope you don't mind me asking....

I've just started the 5:2 plan and I've done a lot of research but I'm confused about one thing.. Maybe you can help. You have had excellent results fair play... I used to follow sw as well but got fed up with the restrictions for social occasions I reckon 5:2 will suit my lifestyle perfectly

I've calculated my TDEE and I want to lose 2 lbs per week.. I've come across two schools of thought... One is to fast the two days 500 calories each day and then eat as close to my TDEE as possible on the other days.

The other suggests the following formula TDEE *7 - 1000 (2 fast dsys), minus either 3500 cals or 7000 cals (to lose either 1 or 2 lbs) / 5 days. Phew!!

I guess I'm wondering do you or any other subscribers who are having success have any advice for me...do you find better success using your TDEE calories on feast days or do you factor in the minus 3500 or 7000 to get the 1 or 2 lbs loss?

Cheers,
Fi

Hello lovely. I really think you're overthinking it if I'm honest. Even reading your post baffled me a little. I literally stick to my TDEE (or as close to it as I can get) on non-fast days, and then 500cals on my fast days. And that's it! No worrying about being -3,500cals / -7,000cals. The fast days automatically sort out the calorie deficit for you, that is the whole point of them. And besides, a calorie deficit of 3,500 = 1lb loss is just a generic guesstimate. It's not necessarily accurate. For example, my third week in I had a calorie deficit of 3,675cals (just had a quick check on MFP) and I lost 2lb that week. Another week I had a calorie deficit of 3,340cals and lost 3.5lb that week. So it doesn't always equate.

I've had consitent losses ever since starting - except for my gain after a weekend off plan! But I do have to point out that 5:2 isn't necissarily a "quick-fix" and over and over again I have read that the average losses will be 1lb a week, maybe 2lb at a push. I really do seem to be in the minority that I am losing so much weight so quickly. I can't tell you why or how that is working for me, it just is. But quite a few 5:2 followers on certain social media pages seem to be pleasantly surprised at how quickly it's working for me.

The main thing struck me about your post is that I think you need to relax a little and stop overthinking it too much - for that is the whole beauty of 5:2. It is so much more relaxed than many other diets! And I wouldn't want you to lose that, otherwise it would feel like much more of a chore than it should. I would also suggest that, for at least maybe your first month, you try to stick to just eating your TDEE on non-fast days and then 500cals on your fast days. After that, once you start to know the plan a bit better, you could then decide to tweak it a little if you wanted. But, as I say, I wouldn't want you to lose the freedom / relaxed element of 5:2. As for me that's what makes it so enjoyable and easy to stick to!

Hope this helps a little. Good luck xx

Thanks a million Stevie.. There is so much conflicting info out there so I just wanted to check. I'm currently in the middle of my first week and have one fast down and I stuck to my TDEE on the other days.. But came across the other info and got myself (and you) confused and baffled lol. I'm going to continue with my fast dsys and TDEE days

Thx a million x

Got a busy day today! I'm at work and then tonight I'm going to a Christmas service. We got an invite from The Cooperative FuneralCare. Apparently every year here they put on a Christmas service and invite the families of those they have "serviced" that year. They did my grandad's funeral earlier in the year, so that's why we've been invited. I think it's lovely, and it'll be a nice way to remember him and wish him a Merry Christmas. I'm going with my mam and Aunty Linda and younger cousin Amber.

Anyway, this is how today is looking...

Feast Day

Breakfast:
- Oat So Simple Original Porridge Pot
- Can of Monster Zero

Lunch:
- Tesco Healthy Living Chicken with Baby Potatoes and Vegetables (Carrots and Green Beans). With an added packet of Tesco Tender Vegetable Medley (Sugar Snap Peas, Tenderstem Broccoli and Green Beans)
- Bottle of Dr Pepper Zero
- Malteasers

Dinner:
- Ham, Cherry Tomato and Cheese Toastie served with Spicy SW Wedges and BBQ Sauce
- Double Chocolate Chunk Quest bar

Other:
- Advent Calendar Chocolate
- 4 finger KitKat
- Can of Pepsi Max
- Malteaser "Teasers" bar

I'm absolutely starving today!! Sod's law when it's meant to be a fast day too!

But I have been thinking. I don't actually feel like I need to do 4:3 this week, as I don't feel I have any danger areas or stumbling blocks that I could come across this week - that will all begin next week with the Christmas "do" on the Friday! So, I'm ditching the third fast day this week! It's not needed and I don't see the point in starving myself for the sake of it - I already know that plain old 5:2 works just great for me!

So today is now a *Feast* day, yippee!! I've had porridge for my breakfast and am now planning my meals for the rest of the day. I don't know why I'm so hungry today, probably the fact that MN is still lingering. Plus, the night after a takeaway / fast food I always find myself hungrier than normal.

Anyway, just thinking out loud with you all x

yay for another feast day, we all have days where we cant stop eating well i know i do. its soo quiet on here today. xx

Well, sometimes you just have to listen to your body don't you. And if it tells you that you need to eat, then you need to eat. I'm hungry so there's no point starving myself for the sake of it. Not worried or feeling guilty for not doing a third fast as I know that I've had great losses with 5:2, so I've no reason to panic. Going to enjoy five full feast days this week before I lose out on one of those over the next couple of weeks to make allowances for works' meal, Christmas Day, New Year, etc.

I've noticed it's quiet on here too! It has been for the last few weeks or so I'd say xx

I agree no use in starving yourself.

I say it's the 'calm before the storm' on here at the mo, it'll all start beg 2015 the questions............... x

have you got lots going on around Christmas time xx

Quite a bit! I have my works Christmas meal next Friday. It's the last day at work for most of us so we're going out to an Italian for lunch and then finishing early. I've been twice before and it's amazing, but not very diet friendly lol! I'm having Terrina Al Funghi (mushroom topped with chicken liver pate and caramelised onions) to start, Impetata Di Pollo (chargrilled chicken breast in a pepper sauce served with roasted vegetables) for main and then Tiramisu for dessert! Yum - looking forward to it already but three fast days will definitely be needed next week to do some damage limitation!

The the following week it's Christmas week! Not a lot going on at the start of the week, other than maybe giving my mam a hand with the food shopping, etc. Then on Christmas Eve it'll probably be a takeaway and a few drinks with Warren. Christmas day is usually quite a big day. We get up and open our presents, have breakfast, get ready and then head round to my Aunty's where all of the family meet to swap gifts. The my mam and I head home to prepare the Christmas dinner whilst the lads head off down to the WMC for a few drinks. I think my Nanna is coming for Christmas lunch this year - she has three son's so she usually rotates between the three, but I think it's our "turn" this year. So that'll be nice! Then later on in the afternoon it's usually a film and a nap, and then Warren will be coming round once he's finished visiting his family, had dinner, etc. Swap pressies at my house and he'll stay for an hour or two, and then we'll head to his so I can give his mam and dad their presents and I'll stop the night. And then probably out and about on Boxing day for a few drinks with friends. So again, a third fast day will be needed this week to pull things back again!

And then New Year the following week! Not much planned really for New Year, I think we're doing the same as last year and going out for tea with our best friends Katie and Sean and then going back to theirs for drinks and to see in the New Year. And New Years day will probably be spent hungover and eating leftover party food lol! I'll then have a couple of days to pull it back around for weigh in which will be Monday 5th - again a third fast day that week hopefully!

Phew!! Feeling exhausted just thinking about all of that lol. Have you got some nice plans? :) xx
