ProPoints Diary of a podgy bride (sigh)...

How did your Official WI go Maria? Remember it isn't all about the Numbers on the Scales, it's how you feel too :) x

Hi Serena - a pound off for me this week. I am happy with that as long as it's coming off, especially as this regime just doesn't feel like a CHORE! Mind you, we are off to Blackpool this weekend for our annual pilgrimage to the fairground. I am saving the majority of my weeklies for the weekend so let's see if I can resist the donuts, pizza and other rubbish that they usually want!

How are you getting along with maintenance?

Hey! Well Done on your 1lb Loss! That's FAB :) I hope that you enjoy Blackpool, remember that your Annual Pilgrimage happens just once a year, you have the other 51WKs to focus on WW, relax and enjoy yourself, there's always next week! Maintenance is ok, 1st Week I STS, 2nd Wk I lost 1lb, waiting to see what the Scales say tomorrow, hopefully it will be a STS, thank you for asking. X

Blimey, where has the week gone??

Is it just me, or is this a "hungry" time of year? I previously managed to easily stay within my points but the last couple of weeks has seen me more hungry and struggling (apart from trips away where I ALWAYS go over). I have been nibbling at the weeklies when I want to save them for a treat meal. Action is called for: I am going to have more salad based lunches so I can save a point or two for an evening hot chocolate.

I am now just 2lb away from the weight I wanted to be for my wedding in January 2013. I think I will try my wedding dress on again next weekend to see if it looks any better on me.....

I agree, it's the weather and darker evenings! I just want Options and a Chocolate Bar in front of the TV, an apple wouldn't quite cut it ;-) I always have a Small lunch so I have plenty left for the evening, last night I had 11pp left for treats, it was heaven! X

I don't know what was wrong with me this morning, I was totally fed up and feeling stressed. I could have killed the husband for no real reason other than for being in the house!

We ate well (I will have used up about 6 or 7 weeklies by the time we eat tonight as we have guests over and I am looking forward to my tea which dear beloved husband is cooking as I speak.

We are just back from our weekend jog and I feel so much better for it and all is well with the world again!

It won't be up your street - shepherd's pie (lamb mince), parsnips, carrot & swede, peas and gravy. Ohhhhh, it was so good. I am sitting here virtually rubbing my belly because I am so full up. He likes cooking whereas I hate it: in fact I hate all housework! I am no domestic goddess but I do get stuff done. I hate an untidy house more than I hate cleaning!

So you are a few weeks into maintaining and it sounds like you are doing ok. Are you happy that you can do this for life?

That still sounds good and even better that you didn't have to cook it! Does he wash up too ;-) Im 4wks in, still 3lbs under Goal so I'm happy with that :) I'm happy to follow WW for Life, it doesn't feel like a Diet to me! Best ever plan Ive ever followed! X

I missed my weekly class due to a work meeting but I weighed myself at home and it looks like I have lost 2lb, which I am very happy with. I will record a 1.5lb official loss though because when I weigh myself at home the loss is usually slightly more than what the WW sales say. This now takes my loss to a stone - yay!

I think it's time to rethink my lunches at work now its getting cold. I will get a butternut squash, red pepper and lentil soup on today (I am working from home) and freeze it into portions which is great for when I can't really be bothered knocking up a salad. I also need to make some meals for the freezer. I am a great advocate of making our own "ready meals" and taking them out of the freezer in the morning, before we head off for work.

I think I will have a good trawl through my massive pile of recipe books and see what comfort foods I can find.

Whoop Whoop for your 1.5/2lb Loss, always better to take the lower number I think, onwards and downwards to next week WI! I love a 'Ready Meal' I'm currently rocking Shepherdless Pie, Chilli and Bolognese in mine, ran out of Foil Trays before I could make Lasagne and Toad in the Hole! X PS-Hope Soup turns out ok. X

Thanks Serena!
I keep meaning to make shepherdless pie but have never got round to it. I used to be a veggie so I like veggie foods but my husband is a real meat eater and he would sulk if I produced it for tea. I have a recipe for it and I think I will make it for work. What do you think of it? Any tips for making it better than the standard recipe? x

Here is my Recipe...

SHEPHERDLESS PIE (Total Recipe-18pp, 6pp Per Portion)

210g Mince-One Sachet Rehydrated (4pp)
500g Asda Fresh Mashed Potato (9pp)
181g Garden Peas (3pp)
280ml Onion Gravy (2pp)
1 Tsp Mixed Herbs
1 Tsp Marmite
200g Carrots
150g Mushrooms
70g White Onion
1 Clove Garlic
22g Tomato Purée

It was SUPER tasty! I froze it in 3 Foil Trays but you could obviously double the recipe to make 6 Foil Trays. X

Thanks for that Serena, I will give it a go at the weekend. x

Where has this week gone? I have been working long hours for the last couple of weeks, hence hardly any updates. I got some more work to do just now so just a quickie from me today.

It's weird this diet (in a good way). I haven't been perfect this week and yet I have still lost 1lb. The weeklies are great for handling slip ups or unexpected meals out and the like. I had a couple of naughty moments, some by choice (toffee and fudge topped muffin, worst thing ever but delish!) and some not by choice (had to take my office manager out to discuss his annual appraisal = lovely chicken, parmesan, aubergine, tomato and mozzarella creation = delish also). It has given me the confidence to regularly invite the husband out for a meal at the weekends - usually unheard of on a diet - the lack of deprivation is a joy.

The running is helping too although I'm not making the preferred 3 runs a week. I got two in this week and I hit another personal best of 37 minutes of non-stop running. Admittedly it is still at a slugs pace but I couldn't even manage 3 minutes a couple of months ago.

Feeling pretty positive and motivated today so I'm off to catch up on my workload. x

Hey Maria! Well Done on your 1lb Loss, you're definitely in the More IS More Club! Well Done on cracking on with the Running too, you're braver than me in this weather! X

What a terrible week I have had!

Pretty much the only bad week I have had on WW and it all started with my hip injury (from running I think) then that half a pound gain, which really took me by surprise because I had been good all week. Since then, I have had something proper bad every single day. It doesn't help that my WW leader has changed and the class itself is now closed until mid-January. I think I am subconsciously thinking that I am on a diet holiday as well!

I need to stop the rot in its tracks now and get back on it. I really don't want to undo the good work I have done so far and I need to try an experimental run tomorrow and see how my hip bears up. I can feel lethargy creeping up and I am convinced it has been the lack of exercise, combined with a very busy week at work. The cold weather is not helping either.

Help!!!

aww nothin worse than an injury!!
i was sounding like that too but im back on it!! :)
good luck!
take it easy with the hip tho!

Thanks Shez. I am back into positive mode again too.
I test drove the hip today with a 30 minute run and it's sore again. Might fork out for a physio to look at it. I've only just graduated from the C25k plan and I don't want to lose momentum.
I'll be interested to read how you get on now you're back on it.
