diary of angie-bum, first time mum

oooh hi guys, have gone to ground a bit as just trying to get into routine that fits in sleep eating healing and sometimes sleeping (though been more napping than sleeping). Love my beautiful daughter and am still in awe that I am a Mum! Have been breastfeeding, but still need a hand with it am probably going into town tomorrow to get advice from a drop in centre. My milk started coming in the day before yesterday and am quite shocked at the difference =) (holy cow was my first thought as I saw one breast then the other expand infront of my eyes!).

Any way will post this then try and work out how to add photos from this computer...still not used to the mac & at the mo the picture files are too big. Do have a flicker account so should get around to using that.

Hope everyone is well and had a good Christmas. Christmas kinda passed us by as we spent it on a busy hospital ward. Hope to be up to having a better New years eve celebration.

Will try and post a pickie now and then a few more soon

Great to see you back and coping well! Parenthood and new parenthood is most definately just as you describe! lol
I'm still in a flurry of BF and had to giggle at your holy cow comment on the boob front! I know when Catrin goes a few hours I feel like dolly parton! lol I'm an E cup normally anyway so am h-uuuuuugeeeee when she's overdue a feed! lol DH loves it but says it's awful as it's a 'can't touch' zone now! lol bless him.

Anyway.. hope you are healing well and get a better new year - just cosy at home the 3 of you will be great I'm sure. ((Hugs))

Glad you have a BF support group to go too even if it's a drop in. Hope it helps - if you're stuck and want to ask here Im' sure we can help or dig out the info somewhere. ((hugs))

have been laying low as baby has needed extra help

baby has only poo-ed once since birth and had lost weight on day 5 and 10

so has been ahuge worry

however baby seen by mw yesterday and had put on a little in two days. Am seemingly spending my whole day and night breast feeding or trying to hand express 10 mls 0f milk at a time.

my gp said he would have referred to a paeditrition at local acute hosp but they have rampant airborne virus that causes d and v, so must try and keep baby away from that that and the weather (bloody weather!)

anyway am seeing mw tomorrow again

they have opened the acute hospital again today after shutting many wards. Need to get advice that if babs does not have a bowel movement soon, how long will they leave it until they do some investigations!

Apart from all that I love my daughter with all my heart and am getting used to eating with one hand and getting little sleep. I just wish she would poo so I can enjoy this part of our bonding with out being so freaked out that there may be something seriously wrong and that the virus/weather is stopping that being investigated

Okay, gotta go, I need to try express a few more mils of bm for a top up feed whilst my liddle pudding is having a few seconds shut eye.

Still can't work out how to get the photos I have of her small enough to put online, but am working on it.

Hope everyone else is okay.

I see Shel has been having some worries too. My thoughts are with her and Charlie.

What a time eh?

As for me my stitches no longer hurt I am bleeding so much less (tmi) and am now back in size 18 jeans. My feet and ankles have also shrunk back and i have dropped 2 stone from final baby weight.

anyway gotta go my pudding wants a feed

Thought are with you and baby Katia at this difficult time Angie, fingers crossed things will get moving for her soon bless her little socks...

Well done for sticking with the BF im sure every ml is doing her the world of good..

lots of love to you all and heres to a speedy change in the weather so u can get little one to the hospital and properly looked over, more for peace of mind i am sure xxxx

Ang are you taking any painkillers?

If you are breast feeding then you can try eating prunes or drinking prune juice as the effects will pass through to baby.

thanks guys =)

will try the prune thing shell...had eaten them the day after i got home as already constipated... then put on iron x3 day cos of blood loss.

Will go into kitchen and chow down on them now

Hi glad to read fenugreek is working for you. and Katia is enjoying the increased milk. :) Hope you're both doing well.

Hmmmmm guys want to get my figure back! I know that you are not supposed to get into proper exercise/diet until about 6 weeks post natal, but am trying to think what I can do in the mean time. I have got back into bad habits. But I was very happy being a size 14 and am not comfortable as a size 18.

I have thought about getting a corset or some sort of control knickers as my midrift is really jellified. I really didn't keep to the ethos of 'pregnancy without the pounds' as I very much did 'with pounds'! I know I am 17stone plus now, but some of that is still water retention. I was 17 stone and a size20/22 before I started cd, but am now getting into size18's even though I am heavier than when I first dieted back in august 08.

So I know I dont need to go by weight per se, I just want to get into size 16's for the time being and to lose some of the weight off my face and thighs. What I have going for me is that I have a good recent memory of being thinner, I am breastfeeding and I haven't got much interest in food, therefore in theory I just have to get back into eating sensibly and increase my activity level. Not sure I should post my dieting entries here as of course not pregnant! I assume there must be a thread for post natal dieting. Anyway, am stating my intentions now to you guys, hoping that it will help me curb my eating which has had far too much triffle, mince pies and panetone in it recently =)

Katia's pic in your signature is lovely!! :)

As for jelly belly, well sadly it is a big side affect but will get better. Try to give yourself the 6 weeks as you will find if you do too much you bleed more (I have found the same while mucking out etc so Graham has banned me from doing much). lol
Walking would be a good one but knowing you and falling over I'd tell you to wait till snow is gone! lol

I am totally with you in that the 'without pounds' went out of the window! lol I'm disgusted by the fact I weigh more now than I did this time last year - when I started CD. And having Catrin didn't make much difference to my weight! :( But.. I'll have to do better, but while BF am limited. I think Slimming world really will be my best bet.

I'd be up for joining a post natal thread - we did chat about it before (I think that was with you or perhaps someone else). But definately need something and don't feel able to join the main threads yet to be honest. The whole BF, tiredness, no time thing is still getting to me! lol

I had no idea breast feeding took so much time!

I swear it's all I did yesterday! And what I am doing in the middle of the night, she's been suckling on and off for more than an hour. I need more sleep ! Oh and more water...drinking it by the gallon but still thirsty

Just seen your photos your daughter is absolutely gorgeous. So glad she is 'REGULAR' and feeding well too now.

I'm totally with you on the weight gain but as PH says it goes with the pregnancy thing and not a lot we can do about it. I still have 3 stone to lose after having Grace, did try and diet around october time and manged to lose a stone, sadly put most of that back on over xmas. So I'm starting CD again on 18th Jan.

Think a post natal thread would be great!

Hi Lisa - Grace is looking soo grown up in your signature bless her :) Will open a thread as we definately could benefit from it! lol Good luck with CD you'll be kissing goodbye to the lbs for sure. :)

Angie over the moon everything ok with baby!

and wel done for persevering with BF, im sure it will settle down eventualy, you deserve a medal in the meantime!

xxx
