Thank you! Really starting to feel like my old self again.
Managed to lose 6lb this week - VERY happy but also quite embarrassed because to be honest it really wasn't deserved. I've had a bad couple of days. I think it's because last week I weighed in the evening and noted a 4lb gain which probably wasn't very accurate due to time of day, so I hadn't really gained that much. Very happy though either way. 2 stone award.
I'm doing it on my own too, only been doing this a week and lost half a stone, people have said they can see the difference (how strange! I can't) without even knowing I was on a diet or had actually lost weight Good luck to everyone doing Slimming World on their own, and congrats to all who've been managing to lose and maintain without groups
I'm giving the plan a try on my own over the next 8 weeks while I'm on nights - Been to class 3 times in the past and always do well if I can get my head around it! Fingers crossed I've got my motivation back - woohoo

Hi all,
First time posting on MiniMins, but am re-starting SW (from home this time) as it worked for me last time.. Hope it'll be just as easy going it alone!
Any tips?
Hello
I'm doing SW at home as I can't stand the awkwardness of meetings. I couldn't believe my luck when I found this forum! I'm really excited because although I have the red and green day book (probably pretty old by now), I don't know anyone else who is doing Slimming World and don't have anyone to mull over the trials and tribulations of the rules with. My husband and I are both doing the diet together and it's pretty much like the blind leading the blind... but hopefully now that will all change.
My back story is that I've had a particularly tough few years... well, lets not beat about the bush... a very tough few years which include loosing a parent, our house, my horse, my business, friends, having cancer and a baby. Over the last 4 years I've put on 5 stone and managed to eat my way out of fitting into any of my clothes. My husband, bless him, kept up with me pretty much pie for pie through it all, but he has less overall than me to loose.
After a few failed attempts at starting the diet last year, I saw pictures of myself over Christmas, had a very long cry (in fact it's making me well up as I type) and decided to pull myself together and get my life back on track. I started Slimming World on the 1st of January this year... assisted by the first of 3 bouts of the Norovirus (thanks to my son who likes to bring colds/illnesses back home like pets)... and have now lost over 2.5 stone! It may have taken me 4 years to put the weight on, but I'll be damned if it's going to take me 4 years to take it off again! ;D
I've started reading through all of your posts, but I think it's going to take me some time to read all 72 pages! I'm already on page 10 and I've learnt more about the diet in those few pages than I think I knew overall, so thanks so much for starting this forum. I really look forward to staying in the loop and hearing about how everyone's doing and learning about the tricks people have learnt of how to speed up their weight loss.
I've averaged about 1.4lbs loss per week so far, but I'm doing so much exercise I don't feel that that amount of loss is really justified. I go to zumba 3x a week, walk the dogs a few miles every day, go clubbing on Saturday nights and have replaced my front room coffee table with an exercise bike which I sit on and actually use if I have nothing else to do at night. I realise that muscle weighs more than fat (and I'm going to end up looking like SheRa at this rate!)... but I think that I'm probably doing something wrong with how I eat and I could do better. I know loosing weight quickly is not recommended or healthy (and God knows I don't want to end up with terrible shrink marks or saggy skin if I loose it too fast), but I can't help but wish I was loosing 2 pounds a week. I feel like I've spent enough time feeling unhappy and just want to get back to normal now. You can't blame a girl for wishing ;D
I realise that these questions have probably been asked time and time again... and if so, please could you direct me to some appropriate forums... but in the meantime, could you please tell me if you think what I am doing sounds reasonable?
I have done the red days since I started as I find them easiest. Do I have to vary the days?
Can you really eat as much meat/fruit/veg as you like throughout the day?
Someone mentioned that lattes were 10 syns. What lattes are these? Any? Even home made ones? Even if you have a small skinny latte?
Do you have to have 1/3 of your meal made up of superfree food if you are doing a red day? Or would you advise me to do it generally?
I am trying not to have many syns each day and have cut out alcohol completely. If you have 15 syns a day, do you loose weight slower?
Does anyone have a magic wand they could use to help make the weight fall off a bit faster?
In the meantime, I hope everyone has a really good week and looses weight and I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards.
Gemma
