Hey Nic - I think I have the same problem and I also use Asics as a correction. Their trainers are fabulous, never let me down.
Well done judimac, you'll be buff in no time!
I had a good day today - went to my first running event this time round, a 12 miler no less. I've run over 14 miles before so finishing wasn't too much of a problem but as a part of race ettequate I decided not to wear my mp3 player, which worried me as I have never run more than 9 miles without it.
However... on the day things were relatively fine, I just kept saying positive things to myself. Normally it takes me about 6 miles to feel comfortable at the 'race pace', just as I hit this mark in the race I fell forwards at the bottom of a hill slicing my hand open (EVERYWHERE the blood went!) but tried to 'run it off', telling the marshall I was fine regardless of the tears going down my face

I originally aimed to finish the race in 2 hours, but made a delightful 1:44. Wasn't greeted with smiles though - I was covered in so much blood that the race marshall wanted to call paramedics thinking my wrist was cut!
All and all I don't think I could have done better for a rookie
