GREEN DAYS ONLY - systemas diary

Morning All - back in UK if not in the land of the living :) Came back with BA instead of Qantas we had booked the ticket with and what a difference in service, quality of the plane and the food. Will make sure we never fly with them again as part of one of these partner company tickets.
Did not make it to SW meeting as MIL had bought the monthly Woman Diet Mag instead of the ordinary one with the freebie ticket in although when I got weighed on her scales last night did wonder if I ought to go for a first weigh-in - I was 3kgs more than Monday mornings weight at the hospital. Hoping and praying it time of day, travel weight etc. and her ropey scales
Forced myself to stay up util 9 - then mild sleeping tab at 2am and now 5.30 am but have decided going to try and keep getting up at this time as it is nice and quiet.
Made MIL's small house like a Rag Shop once again, stuff everywhere so going to get that sorted, Doctors appointment with my wrist at 10pm and shopping and more shopping and deciding what to eat - back with meat eaters but hoping to give them mostly veggie stuff. Going to try cheesey broccoli quiche with rice base today with some Actifry chips - OH new machine arrived last night so no doubt will be playing with that today.

We will decide what we are going to do after Docs appointment - see if we get anywhere re him getting me an appointment to see a specialist - don't know how long these things take.

Thank you all for your good wishes and here we go again - hoping the scales are kinder to me this morning. Have been looking for SW classes and they all seem to be in the evening which I don't like, not because of weigh in cos that sorts it's self out but they all seem to be when I am cooking tea. Only found the one I went to before and was not keen on but will keep looking.

glad to have you back
are you in wales at the moment or based elsewhere for the time being

good luck at the doctors
that rice based quiche sounds interesting (I wont be trying though as I dont like rice)

as for the weight - dont forget to take into account fluid retention due to flying - just drink loads of water for a few days and you will be fine
H xx

Just got back from Docs in Nottingham and have to go and have an x-ray when they fix it up so will be here for the foreseeable future. Also had blood test and she wants to test for Vit D (don't think I have been suffering from a lack of that one lately) amongst other things.
Then shopping - OH had a fit in Asda when she asked for £60 (no meat) and then the veg shop was about £20 so may have to stay in for the rest of the week.:)

Weighed a little less this morning but OH had so many different weights on his mothers scales he said not to use them as I will get annoyed and he is right.

Lunch time now so off to make some soup.

Just eaten the rice based quiche and it was very good - impressed with it. Will post pics tomorrow along with recipe.

Plus Actifry chips -( I did not buy this one - OH loves his Actifry chips ) and home made ratatouille.

Too busy watching Mr and Mrs with my lovely MIL to sort out pics.

Welcome back!! I'm sure the scales will sort themselves out :)

Really hope they sort out your wrist/find out what's going on.

Urgh I bet the shopping bill was one hell of a shock after being away. x x

Back in the East Mids! Bit of a difference here lol ;) The food shopping is crazy isn't it, especially when you are used to the prices there and all that amazing veg and tofu you could get for sod all money. It gets more expensive for us by the week it seems to feed two plus two kitties :/

Glad you are back safe though - how long are you in Notts for? x

More fluid retention after the nice bottle of Zinfandel :) Back on the wagon in more ways than one today. My MIL is not too keen on rice but did not even notice it was rice until I told her.

Every time my OH has to get his wallet out it is a shock. I was actually surprised the bill was not more than that as I was throwing things in we did not really need but I had missed.

I had a £3 voucher from H & B which I had to spend yesterday so bought a box of tofu - £1.70  and had to put money to it to buy porridge.
Will have to stay in Notts until I get this wrist sorted or it will cost me another fortune in Spain.

This is the recipe for the quiche.
BROCCOLI QUICHE - 6 SERVINGS

2 cups cooked brown rice --- I cooked 240 gms dry and had a bit left over
1/4 cup cheddar cheese, finely grated
5 eggs
1 cup milk - I used soya milk
2 cups broccoli, cut into bite sized pieces and blanched
1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
4 green onions, sliced
1 pinch nutmeg (optional)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
Mix the rice, finely grated cheese and one egg in a bowl. Press the rice mixture into a pie plate, about 1/4 inch thick.

Bake in a preheated 450 degree F/Gas 8 oven until the edges and bottom just start turning golden brown, about 8-10 mins

Mix the remaining eggs, milk, broccoli, sharp cheddar cheese and green onions in a bowl and season with salt and pepper. Pour the egg mixture into the pie crust.

Bake in a preheated 375 degree F / Gas 5 oven until golden brown and set in the center, about 30 to 35 minutes.

I used 120gms Strong Cheddar and put 1/3 in the rice and the rest in the quiche.
There are now endless fillings for this rice case.

I was impressed how it came out - it was tasty and it sliced really well. Made 6 large portions and will freeze a slice to see how it de-frosts.

Must get the light sorted for these photos - didn't realise how little there was in the kitchen until I looked at these. Looks like it could be 2 different quiches :(

Yes, they do look like 2 different quiches! (Welcome Back by the way). I may well try this at some point.

Well, there we were joking about the difference you will see in the price of food here compared to in the East. Well, not a joke now is it? I hope you can still manage to get all or most of the food you cooked over there, even if it is at a huge price!!!!

Just had a nice walk to Morrison's, me and Westlife having a little sing along (no houses to pass :)) what a beautiful day, if everyday was like this I would stay here all the time. Went to the Indian Veg shop and the prices were cheaper than any of the Supermarkets and nicer stuff.
Now getting re-aquainted with Jeremy Kyle :D

That looks lovely will try to adapt it for SW by using healthy extras etc.

Welcome back. I have been a bit mia as I was in Fueterventura last week with my mother and it was perfect.

But I have come down with a terrible head cold. Thank goodness I am off today as needed to catch up on sleep.
Going for a walk soon in the sunshine but I think it is nippy

Your quiche looks amazing, I'm intrigued by the rice base

Yes it came out better than I thought it would - thought it may break up but it cut straight through.

That looks lovely! Going to try that :)

Now that I know it made 6 good sized portions may up the cheese a little.

Glad you had a nice holiday - I enjoyed the weather earlier this morning.

On Green days we have 2 HEX A's which accounts for the dairy and rice, eggs etc are all free so only the cheese/milk to count.

Yes I mainly follow green days as I only eat a little fish so if I knew it served 6 then I could use 6 portions of hex a cheese and syn the soya milk but I would probably use semi skimmed Lactofree milk and syn that.

I am trying the SW spring rolls later made with lasagna sheets
