Well done on keeping your head straight! It definitely is a big part of maintaining weight - knowing when to stop and how to avoid unecessary temptation... Like you, I very much love food too.

I guess it's really all about learning to be 'normal' with it and having it in moderation (though, having said that, it's RIDICULOUS that I have to LEARN what normality around food is... sucks that it's not natural

). The main thing is not to let yourself ever feel 'deprived', so the veg sticks worked! I found that if I denied myself too much and not allowing any leeway - it did more harm than good in the long run.
Your poor son! Well done to him for going into work. I guess since it was his birthday it's excusable. Plus, it's better than it's at home, rather than god knows where, doing who knows what! I hope to be a relaxed parent in the future too.

His poor friend, though... I so understand him looking uncomfortable and avoiding chairs... Reminds me of a time when I was about 16. I was extremely obese, about size 20-22. At school we were having a teacher's - parent day, and my English teacher had a scheduled session with my parents... For the lack of seats, she exclaimed - 'Here, have a sit on my glass table, the Principal (a fairly slim man) always sits on it and it's just fine!' ... so, I perched on it... 5 minutes later, CRASH! Right through the middle of the darn thing. ... SO EMBARASSING!!! I think I lived inside a huge black long coat too, even in the summer... as if a black tent would hide the bulge. ... Lol... Dearie me... Poor boy at the party. My heart goes out to him.
