HELP - My Dress Doesn't Fit!!!!

"Far too often we have one blip and think everything is lost. "

I used to do this all the time. Now I understand it was an easy way out - just an excuse which actualy worked every time because "it wasn't my fault after all" haha - Been there and done that.

Poor you - your lips must hurt a lot. Why don't you try moisturise them - get very gentle lip balm or vaseline and keep them moist. It will stop them from drying so much and they won't be so painful. It might not feel right but against what you might think - it will also speed up healing process.

My party was OKish - bit which I most enjoyed was being able to dress up and finaly wear my high heels (since when at my fattest my feet got fat as well - talking about talent!!!) So I am able actualy wear my high heels and old shoes again.
Foodwise I was trying to be good but still no luck with avoiding the carbs. Wine intake is the whole different story - it will probably deserve it's own thread haha.
Hope you are having good Tuesday - catch up with you later xxx

OMG!! I thought I was the only one who 'slimmed' back into my old shoes! LOL! I assumed pregnancy had increased the size of my feet (since it apparently had for some of my friends)- turns out it was just plain old fat! PMSL!!

Hahaha - plain old fat indeed!!! :rotflmao:
I would have never believed it if it wasn't for a fact that my whole collection of shoes became too small one day!!!

Hi MiniMimi,

full of advice again, aren't you great! I will try to find some vaseline for my lips, or maybe my mums old secret of Nivea, it is just finding the time to get to a chemist in between leaving work and picking my kids up.

Glad to see I am not the only one that has used the excuse in the past, that it isn't my fault when I fell of the wagon...... except I realise now I was only lying to myself.

Well done on the shoes. I was going to get rid of some of mine thinking my feet had just got wider with age and pregnancy etc now I live in hope and will hang on to them after reading the comments from you and Irishmum.

Crazybit, won't it be great to shoe shop?

Minimimi, is there anything else apart from wine, a friend of mine drinks vodka and slimline but I have no idea of alcohol calories as I hardly drink, smoking is my bad habit.

Gonna go as I have loads to do and still need to have a read around.

Best regards

Hi Suzi,

I know this is dreadful and I am not an alcoholic but I reckon you have to know the calorie value of drinks if you are going to stick to your diet. Especially over Xmas. Here goes:

Gin, Whisky, Vodka, Brandy, Bacardi 25ml pub measure 50 cals.
If you drink with a zero cal mixer this is all you count.

Wine 150ml (small glass) red 85 cals
dry white 83 cals
med white 93 cals
sweet white 118 cals

Alcopops eg bacardi breezer vary from 150 to about 230.

Lager half pint 83
Bitter half pint 92

I find the best value (calorie wise, not money wise) is to stick to spirits and diet mixers. The values for wine seem ok but it is a very small glass if you measure it out.

In pubs, you are ok coz they are all measured quantities. For at home (and I have been known to carry them round in my handbag) I have invested in a jigger to measure spirits, and a baby's bottle to measure wine out. If you guess you always pour too much.

Hi Tracey

Thanks for the alcohol calorie contents. I hope Minimimi finds it useful.

I believe you when you say you are not an alcoholic, I think! but I really hardly ever drink, maybe two vodkas or alcopops on my birthday and NYE and that is my limit. As I don't drink I am tipsy after my two drinks. I have been known to go for over a year without any alcohol at all, not planned just the way it went. I normally drive as hubby likes his beer when we go out and it doesn't bother me at all.

I actually don't like the taste of alcohol so when I do have my vodka it is a neat shot and I get rid of the taste with a soft drink. I also spent too many years working in pubs and saw what alcohol can do to you if you abuse it over a long period of time.

Speak soon, best regards

Very helpful - thank you - it will surely come in handy LOL

Suzy, I hope you are doing OK.
I have been so busy lately that can hardly get a chance to pop in here.
Getting xcited about Xmas - BIG TIME.
What about you hun? Any special plans?:flirt2:

Hi Minimimi,

I thought the alcohol chart would come in useful for you...... not that I think you are an alcoholic 'cause I also don't think Tarotwomen is either. Well not much anyway. Please don't yell at me I am only jesting. Honest!

I am really looking forward to xmas as I have two young boys and they are very excited and now we have had snow they are convienced it is NOW, trying to explain they have to wait for their presents from Santa is not easy when we already have some under the tree.

I have not even started wrapping yet and I have a lot to do. The advantage when they are still young is I can buy lots and lots of cheap toys and they are happy. They have got a couple of things they each wanted, Ben 10 watch and buzz lightyear but both were under £20 and I think that is pretty OK seeing how much some of the toys are that I see advertised. A very good reason for watching CBeebies, no adverts. I reckon that has saved me a small fortune that we can't afford anyway. The DS lite / playstation etc can wait a year or two, even longer if I can help it.

We are spending xmas day with a friend of my parents who loves to do the whole cooking / entertaining thing so that is not going to be easy when I can not each much of what he is doing but I am sure he will understand.

Apart from that quite a quiet one this year. At some point the boss is taking us out for lunch but when I don't know. Probably after xmas now.

What are your plans and any reason you are so excited or is it just because you are still a big kid, like most of us!

What about the rest of you, any special plans? Am I the only one having a quiet one?

Best regards

Hiya again Suzi,

How nice to have little ones around at Christmas, it's just not the same without kids. I'll be having a quiet Christmas too, my son is coming over for a few days. Wish I could get him lots of cheap'n'cheerful toys but he's too old now. He usually has cigarettes for Christmas and Birthdays - I know it's dreadful buying them for him and I never though I'd live to see the day but I can't stop him smoking. He has all the playstation and wii things but fortunately he buys them himself now.

I'll still got him a few little bits though so he's something to open.

Tracey

Hi Tracey

I see you son is all grown up now, well just think you can go out on NYE and not have to worry about a baby sitter. We will be staying in as my parents are going out and they are my sitters.......

How was your xmas. Mine was all planned to be quiet and then we got invited here there and everywhere and wherever we went food was on the table. Fortunately it was all buffet style, no sit down dinners so I could pick and choose what I could eat without any questions about my diet.

The boys have also kept me rushed off my feet this week. One has an ear infection so that was a fun trip to A & E as the doctors were all closed. He seems fine now but I can do without the stress especially at this time of year.

What are you all doing over New Year, tell me all the good fun you have planned as I can't remember the last time I stayed at home on NYE.

Hello Suzy - good to hear from you.
I am still at my mum's and won't be back until 4th Jan.
It seems like ages - especialy diet wise cause I am not on diet right now. It will be a difficult task to get back on track but I know we all can do it!!!
My New Year will be at the ball and I am getting excited about actualy dressing up. I found my dress in TK Maxx and wisely bought size bigger (haha)
Have a fab time hun and catch up with you soon xxxx

Hi Minimimi - I'm really pleased you found a dress in TKMaxx, so many people suggested it to me when I was looking.

Don't worry about getting back on to the diet, you know you will do it. I've been really good over Christmas and found it quite easy to stick to. I'm starting to feel the difference in my clothes (my baggie jumpers are getting baggier lol!!!) I must admit I was tempted on Christmas day to have two lots of my chocolate brazil nuts (my Go Lower treat)

Tracey - Have a good one, it's going to be snowing here anyway so just as well I'm not going out!

I have deceided I am going to try "the dress" on again next week. Not that I have any plans to wear it anywhere I just want to see if it comfortable yet or not.

Good idea hun!!! I was actualy thinking about getting this beautiful feathery skirt which only fit this annoying skinny chicks and keep it as a motivational piece. I always wanted to be able to wear this ballet-dancer looking outfit without actualy looking comical in it.
How is your diet going? Did you get snowed in?
In London it wasn't so bad today but it seemed that everything shut down much earlier and by 4pm everyone was rushing home.
Have a good week hun xx

Yep, I agree, good idea to try it on. Would you beleive I've still got a dress from the 80's, it's got a black velvet bodice, strapless and boned with a rahrah skirt. I'll never wear it again but it's used as a measure, if I can fit in that I'm thin enough. I've kept it this long I don't think I could throw it away now.

Tracey

Listen to us! How bad are we that we rely on clothes to check that we are thin enough. I just find it sad in a funny way that we are grown women and yet we have to do these things to ourselves.

So are we going to see photos dressed in these fantastic outfits. I have a skirt I bought just before I met hubby it is like a cream denim and I guess that is the one I will have to use as my benchmark as I felt so good in it. Oh just remembered I also had a suit made in Thailand, and that got me loads of compliments so that will also have to be tried on when I dig out the skirt.

Anybody else got a special outfit or item of clothing that you desperately want to be able to fit into again?

P.S. Yes I was snowed in but I made it to work eventually only to spin the car around on a roundabout and I was driving so slowly which I guess was fortunate otherwise I may have done some damage. Me and the car were both fine I was just really shaken.

Driving on ice is a skill most people in the UK just don't get to learn. Good on you for getting out in it, Suzy! Every bit of experience could help you in the future :)
