How to take compliments?

I can resonate with you there funky, i;ve gone down 2 dress sizes and a 18/20 now and its obvious but i stil dont feel right perhaps when i get down to my first dress size goal i'll be able to handle them better. But i'm sure i still will be hiding uner baggy cloths then

Whenever someone comments about my weight ... I blush like a schoolgirl!!! Whats that about?!?!?

Ive always tried to hide in my clothes, iykwim so now that there is less of me and my clothes, people are really noticing a difference so the compliments are coming more frequent so Im blushing more frequent!!! lol ... just not used to it i suppose!!! It feels good though!!

When I seem to be inbetween sizes, I get my sewing machine out and alter my dress pants ... cant do the jeans though which is a big waste because they are barely worn.

Keep up all the good work xxxx

I always look out for bargains and buy 1 size smaller so it gives me something to push towards. But also depending how many sizes you want to go down the bargain clothes won't break the bank when u've had to go another size further.

I think also by managing to fit into the next size down, it gives me extra motivation to keep at it knowing it's obviously working.

I saw a lovely pair of grey trousers online reduced from £30 to £10 so I bought 2 pairs, 1 in the next size down, and the other in 2 sizes down. When they arrived I couldn't get them over my thighs let alone do them up, so I hung them on my wardrobe door as my first goal and each week I lost I'd try them on to see how close I was to fitting into them. Needless to say 2 weeks ago i put them on and they fitted perfect!

Goal 1 - fit into next size down (achieved)
Goal 2 - lose 1 stone (achieved)
Goal 3 - fit into 2 sizes down (in progress)

Woo hoo! They fit me! Did a little dance round my livng room - OH thinks i've gone a bit mental and i don't care!!!!!

I am so, so pleased for you :D - OHs what do they know - I'll dance with you!!

I am exactly the same, 18s really baggy and can't fasten a 16! Like you say just makes me want to work that bit harder lol

I am shocking with compliments 1. Because I feel like just over 1.5 stone down with about another 4.5 to lose I don't look any different (my clothes say I'm getting smaller but my head doesn't) 2. It takes me completely by surprise - example a couple of weeks ago someone I see weekly ish said 'have you lost weight?' I was so embarrassed the first thing that came out of my mouth was 'not that I know of!!!' what was that about?!? I feel better & am proud I'm losing just get so embarrassed by attention :(

Yes, that makes a lot of sense to me. The other thing is that someone said to me yesterday "have you lost weight?" and I started all the "oh yes, its SW and blah, blah, blah..." and I'm sure they fell asleep lol! - Must just say "yes, thank you" and move on!!

Kankles that is great! (love the username by the way). Maybe I should do that, do you find it a bit disheartening when you first take them home though and they only come up to half way up your thighs?

Oh god no, not at all, I do it because I love clothes and it's my motivation to lose the weight. I have never been more determined to lose as I am right now, so to see something hanging on my wardrobe door as a reminder of my goal and each week trying them on and feeling them getting closer and closer to fitting gives me a real sense of achievement.

The grey trousers I was talking about, I wore to work today and whether or not they have loosened a little already from washing I dont know, but I had to keep pulling them up on the waist! So I may be getting into the next size down again sooner rather than later.

Sometimes when we start a diet, the goal is to lose 4 stone or to get fit by such and such a date, for me I have broken it down into different stages with different rewards, clothes being one of them, but I do not have a firm end target, so rather than keep spending out on expensive clothes I find my bargains, still great quality, so at each milestone I get a little reward for it, and love the excitement of achieving the next milestone.
