I am back and pretty overwhelmed by all your good wishes. Thank you.
I do not know anymore than I did when I went out this morning.
The specialist was lovely. He examined my neck, throat and mouth and has booked an ultra sound and a biopsy for me and then back to see him. I have to wait now for the hospital to ring me and tell me when they are.
He was very encouraging. It is a saliva gland. It is very enlarged but it is impossible to tell whether it is an infection or anything else without the 2 tests.
So it is just sit it out and wait until I hear from the hospital.

I have googled this sue and the most common thing ive found is infection although my friend who recently had same symptoms found it was a stone causing the blockage and therefore swelling which was easily removed. its impossible not to worry but your such a positive person with others and thats how we will try and remain over this. What a shame they couldnt have done it all at the one appointment. Did they give you any idea of how long you are likely to wait?

I know I did ask but he looked at me like I was a mad woman mind you I had tried to lighten the situation when he told me I would have to have a " pincho " which in this case was referring to the biopsy, a needle prick . Pincho can be lots of things in Spanish one of them being a kebab. I lightheartedly asked him would it be beef or chicken...........he did have the good grace to smile . I think it was just nerves on my part.
I have no idea how long I will have to wait but they have been very fast so far.
Please untie yourself Minxie. I know you are as skinny as a long piece of string now but no need to prove it. lol.
