I would like to lose another 2.5 stone. Mfp recommends me 1500 calories for a lb a week, and considering the messing around I have done a lb a week is ok by me! X

I have MFP but I put in the amount of calories I want to eat.. I didn't realise it generated it.. How do u do that?

I never think a lb is much in my head at all, BUT a lb is great physically and your body has to work really hard to get rid of that 1lb in the space of a week so I'm happy too with my slow losses x

Slow wins the race as they say xx

morning all just wondered is 1200 cals about right to lose weight xx

Manda, 1200 is the basic amount anybody needs each day to survive. If you eat less than this then you risk putting your body into starvation mode!

BUT, what you should really base this on is your Basic Metabolic Rate or BMR. This is how many calories your body would burn a day if you lay in bed doing nothing. My BMR is about 1700 calories. You can then reduce from there. Easily, the best way to work out how many calories a day you should eat to lose weight is to use myFitnessPal, app or website. Input your height and weight and what sort of lifestyle you live (Sedentary, active etc) and it will work it out for you and tell you how many calories you need and it will reduce how much you need as you lose weight. I started off at 1550 and am now on 1350.

Based on your stats, I think you'd be able to start somewhere around 1800 calories a day but that's just a guess! It's always better to start higher and then reduce slowly. If you start at 1200 a day if/when you plateau you'll leave yourself with no room to manouvere food-wise without risking damaging your health in some way! Hope this helps- good luck!

Absolutely right. I can't see your stats from the app, but if you have a fair amount to lose don't start as low as 1200, because, as Faery Lights said, you'll have nowhere to go. I started at 1800, with 10 stone to lose, and have worked my way down to around 1500. xx

I agree with them do t go as low as 1200 you d got no where to go when you plateau.

I lost 3 stone with sw and I loved it but then plateaued for 18 months. I had to stop. Although I'm cc ing I'm also using the 5% low fat rule as well which is actually very like the rosemary Conley way of eating.

It took me a while to totally give up sw way of eating as I loved it but I needed portion control and have slowly moved over. I think the only leftover sw is the way I eat and use mfp. I have set mfp at 1200 but I eat around 1400. I use the extra 200 fort treats. But I let them go into the red on mfp so that psychologically I stop myself overeating crap

But I also take chromium supplement. Once in your system it actually curbs the cravings for carbs which has been brilliant

Well I'm sure you'll do very well :)

I'm being more careful with portion control myself after putting a few lbs back on over the summer.

We'll get there eh?

Yeah I saw your pictures on Facebook and you looked amazing Ali. Beautiful :) sorry I haven't visited your diary.

I agree with the above too manda. I wouldn't guess how many calories you should eat- work it out so you don't damage your health x

I've hear about chromium before in relation to PCOS but I didn't realise it curbs cravings so I'm going to buy me some of that.

Our stories sound exactly the same re: SW. How much weight have you lost since CC?
