I'm in here somewhere! My CD journey back to me.

YEP! If I've not been for four or five days though.... Not every day as I think it can be habbit forming. I have got the cambridge fibre but you have to have a.... ahem... clear out first! There's loads of posts on here about it .... Look at the info section at the top ^^^

Ooooooh dont get dulcolax for gods sake.... IT HURTS! I felt like my tummy had been scraped out with a spoon and I like to think I'm quite a hardy lass!

Ok. Thanks for the info and the tip. I am reluctant to use anything if I can avoid it, but I never had an issue in any of my pregnancies, which is when you expect it, so this is totally new territory for me!

Yes, there's quite a bit of posting done on this topic. I'm using a fibre supplement but have had to resort to ducolax once (I only used 1/2 the dose so didn't experience too much cramping). I'm amazed with the limited amount of food we take in and the large amount of water that we're having this problem. Perhaps it's common with low carb diets - it is a common side effect of the Atkin's...?

The other thing is that given that we're eating so much less, perhaps going every 3-4 days vs 1-2 is normal...

At any rate - see if you can find a fibre that works for your body. The plus side is fibre is also useful for removing cholesterol. :)

One more day down and only 3 more until weigh in number 2. Really feel as though nothing is happening this week. Feel heavy and bloated, but doing exactly the same as last week. Probably hormonal!

Hope I see a semi-decent loss on Monday, otherwise I am worried I won't stay motivated.

Stayed out of the house today to keep myself busy and get some fresh air. Stopped me thinking about the diet, until now obviously :D

Last weekend was really tough, so I am hoping this one will be easier. Don't want to be dietzilla

You may not be feeling it but I can't see how, with the low cals/low carbs and all the water, the weight isn't coming off. It's just much slower now because it's no longer just water weight. After losing a lot the first week, many people seem to lose 3-5lbs the 2nd week and then hang around 2-3lbs per week thereafter - course everyone's different as well.

Hope you have a good night's sleep and feel better tomorrow!

Thanks Tizzy. I think I just must retaining a bit of water this week- TOTM

I know that given the diet it's a simple equation and I literally have to lose weight. I am going to up my water this next 3 days and hopefully my body will sort itself out.

Excellent! It's funny what an incentive an upcoming weigh in is. Last night I went out to the movies. We have a ritual of having popcorn and M&Ms - and I managed not to do more than have a couple pieces of popcorn! And drank loads of water to dilute (hopefully) the impact. :)

That said, my body is struggling a bit on CD - I've had to take a lax as the fibre just isn't doing it. Noticed this at the end of last week as well, with same solution. Ah well - hopefully once a week doesn't do any harm to the digestive system. :(

2nd weekend coming up! Need to plan some non-food related things to do to keep busy and distracted. Do you have any exciting plans for the weekend?

No big plans. The highlight of my week will probably be the 2 bars I have saved all week to 'treat' myself with something solid to chew on lol. A poor substitute for a few glasses of fizz with olives, nuts, pretzels etc etc but I have decided to relax a bit for an evening for my birthday later this month. Knowing that I have that to look forward to strangely makes it easier to deal with the cravings.

Guess the weekend will be spent chasing round with the kids, a potter round the shops and Sunday is always spent getting them all ready for Monday.

What a glam and exciting life I lead! What about you?

I know what you mean about being better able to hold off cravings when you know you have something coming up. I've been doing that all week because I knew I had a dinner coming up this weekend (tonight).

My fun weekend plans include cleaning up the house, cooking dinner for friends and managing what I eat during the dinner (am having scallops and loads of low-carb veggies, they are bringing dessert), and working out 2x today and 2x tomorrow to try to minimize the impact of the dinner on Monday's weigh-in. My friends already know they are going home with any leftovers....

Tomorrow a friend and I are going to have a make-up makeover which should be fun! :)

Hi Tizzy,

Ooooh, just the sound of eating real food would do it for me! If I can hold out until then, I am giving myself one or two days off for my birthday. Well, I will probably do CD for breakfast and lunch and go off it for dinner on both days.

I don't know what it is about Saturday nights, but I get really emotional not being able to have my usual evening with nice dinner and wine. I was almost in tears earlier and had to go upstairs whilst the kids were having tea. Queuing to get them all McDonalds for lunch and sitting there whilst they slowly munched through all those lovely salty chips nearly had me going for a walk with my banana tetra!

Well, only one more day until weigh in......

Wow you have fabulous will power! I love chips - not sure I would have been able to watch them being eaten without participating.

Tonight went fairly well. I had a shake this morning and then wasn't hungry all day, so didn't eat again til dinner. Luckily at dinner one of my friends was quite hungry so I was able to push most of the rice and 1/2 the dessert his way. :) Now I'm sitting here pouring down water before I go to bed - trying to limit the damage.

Funny you should mention being emotional - today I got one of those emails that remind you to be thankful of the people in your life and before you know it, I was sitting there bawling my eyes out! Took me by surprise, I can tell you!

Enjoy your Sunday!

Oh, bless you. Hope everything is alright. Made it through yesterday with the help of a good film and a fairly early night. Silly thing is, I know that once I get over that hump that Sunday will be fine

Anyway, sitting here with my black tea and choc orange bar cut into teeny tiny pieces. I can probably make it last 15 mins if I chew slowly!

Will see what the moment of truth brings tomorrow....

It is so odd how our mind plays tricks on us. I have had irrational thoughts like the 'the diet is not going to change me as a person, so why bother' and 'i would be much happier fatter and eating what I want'. All those sorts of self- sabotaging voices in my head. I try to snap myself out of it by thinking forward to easter and summer and how I swore to myself I wouldn't fail myself this time. Most of the time it's ok, but sometimes my emotions get the better of me and I get snappy or tearful.

I guess we have to remember that this is a journey not a quick fix and it's going to take time to retrain our brains.....and our stomachs!

Thanks for the tip. I am veggie, but haven't checked if the do veggie versions. For the time being I will try to stick to SS 100%, with only the very odd meal off for special occasions. If I am desperate to eat something I have some quorn slices in the fridge. I can have a couple of those for 40 cals, so I won't make much difference to my diet. I just want to get close to goal as quickly as possible, then move through the steps.

Hope your makeover was fun! What time do you weigh in?

Weighin was disappointing this morning - only 2lbs down, but given my weekend I guess it was to be expected. On the bright side, it was 2lb down, not up! :)

The makeover was lots of fun - I came home looking very glam! Unfortunately, hadn't planned on going out to show off (and probably that is a good thing). And I now know how to give myself eyebrows - I'm very fair so my eyebrows don't show up at all!

I hope you ladies have good weigh-ins - good luck!!!

Morning everyone,

Just finished my 2nd week on SS. Just got back from weigh in and I have lost 5 lbs this week. :D

So that's a whole stone in 2 weeks! So pleased and now really feel that getting to my goal weight could well become a reality in the not too distant future. Hopefully I will be in the 11's by next weigh in!

Good luck at your weigh ins this week!

Hi Tizzy,

Went straight to post and missed your message. Glad u had a good weekend and got a 2lb loss too. Bonus! Like you said, 2 more steps in the right direction and it will most likely balance out next week.

Makeover sounds fun. Last time anyone else did my make up was a my wedding years ago! Maybe that should be my next goal treat to myself, or a lovely massage or something.

Hope you are having a good start to the week.

5lbs! Yay! What a great result - esp. since you were concerned during the week that your weight wasn't dropping. Woo hoo! :)

So far the week has started well. Had my shake this morning and just finished a tomato soup for lunch (ok - late lunch). Now drinking more water.

Thanks for your support!

Thanks! I'm not really sure what to expect next week now. I feel like I 'trust' the diet now, if you know what I mean. I guess I was skeptical and felt that nothing would work for me, but it seems to be working great! My CDC said that my losses prove that My body obviously reacts badly to a carb loaded diet and she is right. I love, or should I say used to love, my bread, pasta, savoury nibbles, the list goes on. Knowing that, I feel i already understand better how I will manage my weight when I start back on a normal diet. I think half the battle is understanding our emotional relationship with food and how our own body reacts to certain foods.

So let's see what happens this week!

Ooh, thanks for letting me know. Sound fab and would be a nice treat on a weekend. I could almost taste the vegimince when I read you had spag bol. Yum! Last proper meal I had was veggie shepherds pie too. Mmmmmmm.

I am missing all my veggie faves. Last week i had 2 slices of quorn one day when i was craving some texture, but that was it. Tasted nice but after I ate it I was like, meh, not sure why I needed that. Strange.

Anyway, good luck for tomorrow. Let us know how you get on.
