Just Recipes!

no alcohol and no berries neither - didn't want to waste them. Half a MiM mix, sweetened with da vinci syrup and covered in the mug with sugar-free jelly. It's less than 2 carbs and I can't wait to try it, think it'll be either fab or foul. Place your bets!

Also made my first attempt at celeriac crisps (just for you Susie), but disappointing result - made them too thin with potato peeler, and did them in microwave when they clearly belong in the oven. Still strangely nice though. Might try another thicker batch then it's off to bed for me. This michelin star cooking fair takes it out of you! :D

Thx hun, my ood is still in the fridge - might give the chips a whirl tomorrow. For some reason, i see them as tasting good with hollandaise sauce - thoughts? :)

Nah, thicker ones just got bendy - at least the thin ones crisped up - eventually.

Deffo a job for the oven. Will try tomorrow - I think they're gonna be gorgeous when I get them right.

And yes to the sauce Susie - what's a good low-carb brand? Oooh now I want it on eggs. :)

You doing a custard layer or just cream? (on the trifle not the crisps lol)

I will cover with cream tomorrow before eating Bren. OK it's basically just jelly with MiM at the minute, isn't it? ;)

Wonder if I could do anything like custard with soya milk, vanilla and xanthan gum???

I've got Schwartz for fish hollandaise sauce in a squashy pack, 0.4 per 100, 1.2 carbs the whole pack :)

Sounds great, I'll look out for it Susie. Where's your thanks button gone btw???

I made a proper custard (which I let set like a tart but without the pastry) with egg yolks and cream, there must have been other stuff in it but I sorta made it up as I went along lol - my brother in law thought it was great unfortunately so I had to share it - argggggg

Look! It's back!

Like the sound of your proper custard Bren - might try it next time, LOL.

I just googled a few custard recipies and worked out which bits I could use (think there was splenda and nutmeg in there too - boiled it up on the stove and then put it in a dish and baked it for a bit)

Confession time - the cold custard isn't my favourite bit of trifle anyway - I often scrape it to one side and leave it.

Does this make me a bad person?

Very, lol :)

Forgot to tell you, I had some Thornton's last week - lovely fudge and turkish delight - but quelle horreur oh the after effects were BAD

You so need to try the Atkins bars for your sweet hit - I've never had bottom effects with any of them :)

Susie I got a load of Atkins bars in Boot's today - think they're 20% off. I also found Sula chocolate covered toffees in H&B which are totally delish.

I agree those thornton's bars are the devil. They're sooooooooooo lovely though!

Oh good hun, I'm sure you'll have a much better time with the Atkins stuff. I haven't tried the Sula brand, so do report back x

Very nice to eat - had four choc covered caramels earlier. Will give you the full gut-related lowdown later. ;)
