LoChan's diary - hello!

Mn cold has moved all onto my chest now - making me throw up when I have a really bad coughing fit :sigh:

No work until tuesday at least so hopefully it'll be better by then. Has to be a day of worshipping pumpkin I think tom'ow - going to have a bash at a lasagne and the low fat pumpkin bread, and probably pumpkin waffles for breakfast :D

Think it will be really good to be back on plan - I am struggling with it a little mentally but I need to prove to myself that a few days or even a week off plan doesn't mean I've ruined everything and that I can come back from it :)

Haven't looked at my proper scales though I've still done wii fit body tests - they don't weigh me very acurately but the ups and downs will probably give me an idea of how I'm doing. It may be a bit of a nervewracking week - hoping even if there's no loss at the end of this week I can take it on the chin and move on!

do you mean a lasagne with pumpkin in or just accompanied with pumpkin bread? :D x

do you mean a lasagne with pumpkin in or just accompanied with pumpkin bread? :D x

A veggie lasagne with roasted or pureed pumpkin (and possibly other veggies) instead of a meat sauce :)

The pumpkin bread is a sweet thing - sort of a cross between bread and a dense cake. Starbucks in the US does it around this time of year and I've got a clone recipe I use but going to try replacing the oil with apple sauce to see if it works out :D

You can do this Lo. Its always harder after a few days off plan but you'll soon get into it and i'm looking forward to seeing what yummyness you make :D green days are a good idea :D xxxxxxxxxxx

Your stuffed peppers are on my greeny list for this week, bought some giant couscous especially :D

My quorn sausage hotpot turned out really well though a little spicy, I'd bought a new pack of chilli powder and didn't realise it was really hot compared to the last lot I had so it blew the roof off a little lol Having a ponder about other things to make during the week too so reckon that's a good sign my head is getting back in the right place :D

ommmmmmmmm nom i LOVE green days.. dont get them very often cooking for OH as hes not a tofu fan (insists on proper meat at every meal) and i love the stuff! :( EE days for me!

Aw, no fun :(

I'm alright, my OH and son are ultra fussy so it's always separate meals for everyone, usually sandwiches/toast for them and I can have whatever I feel like :D

Couple of food pics from last week:

Meal at wagamama (chilli beef ramen, estimated 3.5syns on EE)
Wagamama chilli beef ramen.jpg

Shop-bought soup during laziness and a sandwich idea pinched from Kally's diary - would be a hexa, a hexb and 1 syn for mayo/mustard but I didn't measure out the cheese so mayve 1.5 or 2 hexas of cheese
Co-op pumpkin soup and a 'reubens' sandwich.jpg

is that the rubens sarnie? was it good? :D x

Food diary for today

B - Oat-so-simple (hexb), milk (hexa), chopped banana

L - Ginger lentil dhal, basmati rice. Activia fat-free mandarin yoghurt (always count these as free, if they ain't I shall tweak 'em :D)

D - Quorn sausage hotpot (the cumberland frozen ones, feel like these should be free but been told they're 1 each so I had 2 syns worth), steamed broccoli, green beans & red pepper.

Muller corner greek style with honeyed apricot (4 syns).

Evening - milky coffee (hexa), fibre plus bar (hexb). Rice krispy square (6 syns).

No exercise again - too tired :sigh: At least the food side of things is back under control :)

I love the old Ruben's sandwich
infact i'm thinking I'm having that today with some soup
mmmhhhh
Can you point me in the direction of the peppers with giant couscous please Lo
as I have me some of that

is that the rubens sarnie? was it good? :D x

Yup it was proper tasty :D Mine had american corned beef, a chopped dill gherkin/pickle, apple chutney cheese, one slice of bread spread with extra light mayo, one with champagne mustard, toasted under the grill. Will have one of those again sometime soon :)

The peppers idea is on Jackie's diary page 201 and a pic on 202 :) Not sure exactly what I'll be putting in mine yet aside from the couscous - I bought giant wholewheat couscous from sainsburys, hope it's nice - it sounds virtuous :D

Hey sweetie, glad you're over the cold (me too) but boo to the cough (me too), it's so tickly and annoying and like you when I have a coughing fit I nearly throw up. Glad you enjoyed your time off even though it wasn't how you planned it xx
I have had loads and loads of your hot and sour soup this week, the grandkids were here Friday, Saturday and Sunday while I was away and they used up all the ingredients that I had and mad some batches of it while I was at my sisters doing the same thing lol, then tonight they came over to go trick or treating with Kirsty and Mark and guess what they wanted to eat before they went, so yeah had to make another batch tonight and to top it all I had made a small pan for myself earlier and my sister dropped in and we ended up eating the whole lot lol
Anyway my lovely I am going to bed I am suddenly exhausted, may be due to the fact I barely slept a wink all weekend lol..nighty night sweet dreams xxx :zz: xxx

Mn I'm at the horrible phlegm stage now and the coughing came back a little last night - working today but can start at half ten so will try and snooze a bit on the sofa once my son's gone off to school in his taxi :)

Think I managed a whole pan of the soup in one day myself last week - since then I've not restocked the ingredients either, who'd have thought tofu blocks and red chillies would become a fridge staple :D

Will pop over to visit your diary later on to catch up on your weekend gossip ;)

If I start visiting diaries this morning I won't get the nap in before work  xxxxx

I got the Devil's Number in change at Tesco yesterday - I've kept the receipt as a mini memento, I'll have to burn it if it brings bad luck :giggle:

Think my son enjoyed his last day off school yesterday - we watched Are You Afraid of The Dark dvds (in the dark :D). We also made some cakes (him kids hallow'een package ones, me a sw low syn variety) but unfortunately we were both disappointed by our efforts so they went in the bin after the first ones - eh well, should have made pumpkin bread instead!

Couldn't make my pumpkin lasagne yesterday as no local shops had ricotta - hopefully find some at the shops near school or will make it tom'ow night as will be going to a big shop with m'dad after tea tonight.

As a tea alterative I had a variation of Jackie's stuffed peppers - with giant wholewheat couscous browned with a tsp of ev olive oil then cooked in some knorr herb stock then added kidney beans in chilli sauce and chopped spring onions - stuffed the peppers with this mix then baked in the oven for 10 mins, then topped with a hexb of grated mozzarella then back in the oven for 5-10 more minutes. It was one of those teas where you sit there going 'mmm, I love slimming world!' all the way through to the last bite :D

Food diary for yesterday:

First thing - activia yoghurt

Proper breakfast - Pumpkin waffle stack (hexb & 0.5 syns) with banana and maple syrup (2 syns)
Pumpkin Waffle stack.jpg

L - Quorn sausage hotpot (2 syns) with steamed veggies

Afternoon - milky coffee (hexa), SW pumpkin muffin (3 syns) - too eggy, not cakey :sigh:
Disappointing SW muffin.jpg

D - Stuffed peppers (hexb & 2 syns) with mixed salad & balsamic vinegar

Evening - milky coffee (hexa) & reeses wafer bar (5 syns)

No exercise yesterday - am on the curvies exercise team for November now so must get some sort of wii game exercise in today. It's back on the school walks from today at least (compulsory exercise!) - though have noticed with the inactivity of last week my plantar faciitis has calmed down a lot. Hope it doesn't flare up with a vengeance tonight :fingerscrossed:

sarnie sounds yummy.... but i've never tried a gerkin I am amazed that I find so many foods i've never had as i'm certainly not a fussy eater :giggle:

I can't get giant couscous so will have a look at a sainsburys shop soon as fancy trying it.

Your peppers sound well yummy, so you had a mexican version, I had an italian one, so what can we come up with next? reckon an indian one?? I would definately have them again, in fact I want them now!

How do you feel tday sweetie> How is your cough? xxxxx

I'm gonna have the exact same thing for tea tonight since couldn't find ricotta for my lasagne, oh well I'm not really disappointed :D

For indian ones could fill them with a veggie or meat biriyani and have those with mango chutney. Could do a greek type version too with couscous, feta, lemon and mint.... mmmm the possibilities lol

Cough is still lingering but it's being productive at least - still on lemsip and benylin to help shift the end of the cold, not synning them, don't think they'll have an affect on m'WI at the end of the week

I'm sorry you didn't get to go on holiday but it sounds like you still had some fun. I hope you're feeling better :)

Thanks Tilly - I'm on the mend and I was pleasantly surprised that my manager seems to have given out some of my work while I was off (he hardly ever bothers) so I didn't come back to a huge pile of cases today which was a relief :)

Afternoon Lo

hope your day has been a good one

Thanks Kally - no more holidays for me but I'm still good, enjoyed a nice walk out to school in the autumn leaves this afternoon :)
