M-Mouse's Droppings

Oh Mouse, that's really sad news. I hope you and you're family are doing ok. xxx

We're ok thanks - OH and Son upset but then who wouldn't be. She has dementia too so it is difficult - and presumably why hasn't been diagnosed before.

The crumpets were bloody gorgeous - with butter, and not lf spread. The salmon was good, washed down well with the wine - but I'm still starving so I think I will have to go slaughter a chicken or something:D

Sorry to hear about your mil hugs for you and your family :(

Thanks m'dear. Have to ask the kids if they want to go down and see her at the weekend (if it's not too late) as it could be the last chance they get and I feel I have to offer even if they would find it upsetting. I don't want them to think that they didn't get the chance to see her.

Catching up on my diary reading and was delighted to see the kitten photo... then fell upon your poor MIL's diagnosis. All my best wishes to your poor husband and family...

For the jelly, one sachet of powder makes four servings... and the official website said three per day was ok... strange but true.

As for strange ways of eating things, a couple of weeks ago on the metro, a guy produced a yoghurt from his pocket. Fully expecting a spoon to appear from behind his ear, I was aghast to see him take the lid off and proceed to eat it WITHOUT a spoon... holding it up to his mouth and squeezing...

You know what? Not a drop was wasted... <if anyone's at home right now with a yoghurt handy, give it a go... and not those huge Muller things, cos you'd get some in your ears!!>

oooh and for resisting the cheese sandwich urge, you strengthened your "resistance muscle" rather than your "give in muscle". So it'll be easier to resist next time... (says she!)

Thanks Jo - I did cheat a bit on Monday after my WI - had a few squares of sugar free choc - I thought sod it - everyone else seems to cheat at some point! - and I thought it was the best day to do it if I was going to!!

Fair nuff...

he does advocate a second portion of oatbran in that situation otherwise as an emergency one off measure!

mmm so I could in theory have two of my chocolate cookies that I make - they do seem to hit the spot but no good for you as I know you like your muffins. I am determined to use my sodding cocoa having tracked it down :)

Only if desperate and gagging... in your place, I'd put that cocoa on Ebay and watch the bidding go WILD... call it DUKAN cocoa! hihi!

ooooh and I saw you mentioned Poole... I have fond memories of the Toby Inn there (the one on a busy roundabout) and their Sunday roast! (and somewhat LESS fond memories of Poole ToysRUs... and indecisive kids taking too long to choose making us have to forego our Sunday roast last time there as they had a 1HR+ queue at 12:15pm!)

I haven't been to the pub, and can't even lace in my head where the toy shop is! I suppose it must be out by B&Q? I haven't been to Poole for ages and they have made the quay a bit more cosmopolitan - there is a big apartment complex where the pottery used to be and lots of really nice looking eateries looking out on the water. I used to work in Poole years ago and even my old office building has been made into flats.

hey there mouse im so sorry ti hear about ur MIL its such a shame big hugs hunny !!!!!!

ToysRUs - Nuffield Road, Poole BH17 0SS

As my other half's grand kids live nearby, it's a must do each time we're in England! <They'll be FROGMARCHED through the shop next time, mind you, by yours truly... I'm not missing my £8? roast again!!>

whats you recipe for the cookies hon?

2 tbspn oatbran
1 tbspn wheatbran
1 tbspn sugar
1 tspn cocoa or 1/2 tspn ginger

combine all dry stuff and then add water - about 5 tbspns if you want a big thin biscuit and about 3 or 4 tbspn water if you want one smaller but thicker cookie - enough to bind the ingredients together.

Bake at 180 for about 15 mins then leave to cool. Bloody marvellous.
