My 128 lb Drop Diary [WEEK 67]

Hi Rev - I think you're doing all the right things. Having a trip to Norway is an amazing incentive - I've bought a couple of thinspiration suits and I plan on having myself a spa weekend, somewhere with a pool to indulge myself when they fit. It's a better motivator than just thinking I want to be thinner/leaner.
My mum dropped 4 stone a few years ago with zero exercise but guess what, most of it crept back on - changes your habits so that exercise becomes part of your routine definitely helps you succeed more, I was the laziest mare going and sometimes still feel that I am but I know walking, sit ups, swimming etc are for my own good and tbh I quite like it once I get going. Was delighted to be back into the swing of it today - feel back in control and on top of my game - 150lb here I come.
Have a good New Year - I don't think beer calories are that bad (just plenty of water the next day) - long as you don't fall flat on your face into a doner kebab and chips afterwards - I know it has happened to me :D

I should point out that I don't exercise due to chronic ill health and disability, lol, not because I'm lazy. :) I was merely challenging Alex's assertion that Rosie would have no choice but to exercise as part of weight loss. Unfortunately what you say about your Mum's weight creeping back on is true of 95% of people who lose weight using any method, so we all need to be vigilant against that. 7.5 stone lost so far for me, 2.5 to go! xx

ohhhhhhh i hear you on the exercise , but the more i do the more i enjoy it and well now im a addict haha.

:) x
Ahhh - I was trying to find you :D and could not remember your username.... I think I read a post about you using a powerplate - I've been given the use of one from someone who's going working away and wondered - well what else can I do apart from stand on it? I've seen someone sort of running on the balls of their feet - minute on/minute off.... my problem areas are definitely tops of thighs and the bit in the middle of my upper belly - the side bits are quite defined, the middle not so and there's still fat there (prob a bit of skin too).
I'm actually in North Wales next week - does the toning centre do drop in rates/classes and whereabouts are you .... just in case I could make it over and have a try.
thanks

Sorry - I wasn't alluding to your post in mine - it was just a reply to Rev. I hope you didn't think it was.

Lol, it was with you referring to zero exercise in your post which is what I said I do. :) I'd actually like to be able to do a bit of exercise now I've lost so much weight, but have to be careful as I have ME/CFS as well as osteoarthritis, and can very easily relapse if I do too much, so I'm all about dietary control. xx

Well she really doesn't do any and even now she has chronic pain in her foot and joints still has 1001 excuses not to put her shoes on and walk out the door or join a class and there are lots where she is . It just really frustrates me when she goes on about wanting to lose the weight and then will not do whatever she is capable of to do it. And the SW line of you don't need to exercise to lose weight just really bugs me,this is the one she quotes back to me - as a general standpoint for health - anyhow I appreciate some people cannot exercise, most however opt not to - as long as we all do what we can to improve our situations then we can, if not move mountains then lose them.

Oh, is that what SW says? They're right, from a purely weight loss viewpoint, but I'm surprised they actually say it. Of course exercise is important for health, it's just that some of us need to focus on nutrition. xx

Why won't she have a choice?! Lol. I do zero exercise and it will stay that way. :) xx

Well when you reach your goal, maintaining that weight is helped a lot through exercise. Even that last few stone will be difficult without exercise for a lot of people.

Of course she can avoid it :D She does have a choice - I phrased it wrong - for that I apologize. But when you are near or reach your goal exercise will be of severe importance. Even a little bit! I guess it depends on your body.

For me, I will HAVE to exercise when I am at my goal. I gain weight too easily to not do it.

Wow, well done. You are doing fantastic yourself! 150lb is close now, eh? :D Good to hear you are at the top of your game, great to hear you are active too!

I won't drink too much... then again how many people say that and fail? Haha I will not eat anything I don't think, I will be at a pub the whole time, just chilling.

You know... a doner kebab is my favourite take-out. But it something I think I cannot touch during this weight loss, it is just too much. Hey, I will have one the day I reach my goal!

Enjoy 2013, the year you (and many of us) reach your goal. I think this will be a great year.

Yea!!! Well done and good for you! :D

I was planning on doing 20 minutes a day of rowing when I started, but I did 40 minutes instead. Which for my size, is pretty insane for such a vigorous exercise like rowing. Hopefully, by February I will include a bunch of others exercises with it too. Already started doing a bit of boxing with it, eventually it will be jogging and indoor cycling too.

I think the importance of exercise varies from person to person. Tracy you are evidently doing fantastic without it, which is great. And I have no doubt you probably won't need to seeing as you have come so far without it.

For someone like me, age 18, it is natural for my body to have regular exercise. Most teenagers should be active, so I think it is vital I exercise. I find myself very able to do it, so I have no excuses not to do it :D

So a quick general update.

My eating today has been... quite hilarious... not unhealthy just the most unbalanced as it can get.

All I have eaten today is chicken, nothing else. Woke-up late, had a bag of chicken bites. Worked-out, had 3 marinaded chicken thighs and a drumstick. Later on, 10 mini indonesian chicken satays and another bag of chicken bites. Hahah, I was busy okay. I had no choice :(

Fluid-wise, I had a J20 which is 88 calories. And the rest was just water and some diet coke.

I calculate that at around 1300 calories, plus I burnt 600... so I am on 700 calories. I need to eat more but I have nothing left, need to buy more food. Not very good I know... I guess I will have a beer, perhaps a small sandwich to make up add more calories?

Exercise today was tough, I just had no energy. Didn't feel like it today, for the first time. But screw it, I did 40 minutes again. I am proud of myself. :p

So weigh-in day tomorrow, I am hoping for at least 2lbs. I know it was xmas week, but I didn't over-eat by any margin. I exercised 5 times, 600+ calories each session.

I will post the results as soon as I wake-up, and thanks again for you wonderful people who are posting in here! I appreciate it, and always will. Good luck with your final few calorie burning days of 2012!

Oh I agree totally! It's only poor health that limits me - an ME specialist told me I was already doing as much as could be expected of an ME sufferer, being a mum and working full time, so I wasn't suitable for exercise therapy, which is one of the possible treatments. As I can't afford not to work I have to be very careful not to relapse with my condition. :( But you're a (presumably) healthy 18 year old, so definitely get to it!! xx

I am planning to exercise again in the New Year. I am going to start by doing it twice a week for 20 minutes each session and then increasing it slowly to 5 times a week for 30 minutes each session. I know that I can do it and make it a part of a weekly routine :) It's only been about 2 weeks since my ankle has been fine to even walk on without me being in pain, it was in really bad pain for a month and a half and I just don't want to end up like that again.

But I am looking forward to exercising again :)

You should be really proud of yourself for staying dedicated and determined :) It's great that you're trying so hard. All your hard work will pay off soon!

Heheh yeh I must get to it, no reason why I shouldn't :p

You are doing great, just keep doing what you're doing!

Twice a week is a good start. Before each workout, sike yourself up. Get in the mood, think about everything you want from this weight loss journey. It will help!

And if you can, listen to some fast paced music. It helps me a lot with my rhythm on the rower. I am not much of a music lover, but listening to fast music helps me a lot.

We will see if the hard worked has paid off tomorrow. Only 1.6lb and I am under the big 300! Will post my weigh-in first thing when I wake-up :D

How long should I warm up for because that's how my ankle got sprained, by not warming up properly lol. And thaks, I will get my mind set on exercise :)

I made a playlist with my favorite music and some dance tunes too.

I'm sure you'll get the results you want :)

Hi Rosie! I must admit I've been sneakily weighing daily this week - naughty me! It's because I joined in a challenge to end December no heavier than I started it, lol. Obviously my weight went up a little after my three day Christmas indulgence, but this morning I was just 400g above my Dec 1st starting weight, so I'll see if I can get rid of some of that in the next two days!! How are you doing? :) xx

My big brother, who is a fitness fanatic, sees a personal trainer/advisor every now and then. He shared some VERY interesting information.

Apparently, stretching prior to working out doesn't help at all. If anything, it can increase the chances of injury. He described it as "taking an elastic band out of a freezers and stretching it". So perhaps avoid stretching. I have avoid stretching and have had no injuries as of yet.

The best way to warm up is to do the exercise you are doing, just at a slower pace. It is a good way to warm your body up and to warm the muscles that you will be using.

Each time I use my rower, I have a warm-up phase in the first 5 minutes where I just go slowly. It helps a lot, I think it is the best way to warm-up.

Hmmm, I'm confused now lol. My Doctor and Nurse said I should warm up the joints. I'll try what you said and start off exercising slowly, thanks for the advice.
