My battle against my belly

Day 12

Gained .5 pound. I'm not too worried about it, as long as it doesn't continue!

Didn't get much sleep last night.....coming down from the interview experience I think. Am working a 10-hour shift today so will have to spread out my meals a bit so I'm not starving when I get in tonight.

Don't worry about a daily gain hun. Our bodies fluctuate so much during a day. Things like stress, lack of sleep, too much salt, water retention etc can all effect our weight on a day to day basis. Thats why everyone always says just weigh once per week. I weigh more tho as it helps me stay on track... i wabble soooo easily.

working a 10 hour shift eh? Thats brutal!

Day 13, Thursday

Weight loss so far: 9.5 pounds. Current weight: 191 pounds.

Would loooove to get back into the 180's before this week is over!

Day 14

Gained another .5 pound. It's frustrating because I didn't eat much at all yesterday! I'll have to do some daily exercise from now on... Exercise kind of went by the wayside this week, with the job interview and everything.

Day 15

Well poop, another small gain. I think I know where I'm going wrong though....

I haven't been eating enough fibre or drinking enough water, so my bowel movements have slowed right down. Also, while I haven't been eating any carbs, I'm sill drinking some in the form of alcohol. Finally, I haven't exercised at all this week. I think with having so few carbs my energy levels have been really low, making it really hard to exercise.

Next week I aim to:

-drink at least two litres of water per day
-eat two tablespoons of oat bran per day
-20 minutes of cardio at least three days
-drink alcohol on the weekend only

Ok, first major cheat tonight. Had a Chinese takeaway with white rice, a pancake roll and ice cream for dessert! Disaster!!!

I'm going to make myself do a full hour of cardio in the morning to try and make up for it.

That said, I have more energy right now than I've had since I started my low carb diet.....it's probably just a sugar high.

I want to see what happens over the next week with more intense cardio workouts, and a few more (good) carbs for energy. If I want to lose weight this way I'll need to keep a much keener eye on my daily cal intake..... I just miss having a bit of get up and go, and I miss fruit!

Just read up on them, thanks! I'm very keen to try it but am a bit frightened by the choke warning on the label!

I have the 500mg bottle of tablets solgen (i think is the brand) and take 2 tablets before bed with a 400ml glass of water - almost a pint glass lol guzzle it back no probs

I had Chinese on Friday - but I had a soup with prawns, chicken, beef and veg, with Ho fun noodles (thick wide rice noodles) in a chicken broth. I find I enjoy it more as I don't feel as heavy and full afterwards :) and def no bloating

Day 16

I'm not going to weight myself for a few days, especially after having that chinese. I don't want to completely demotivate myself!

Today I've started eating a much more balanced diet again, but am keeping a close track of my calorie in / out. I still feel like I have 100% more energy, even though exercising SUCKS! I just did 45 minutes on my elliptical trainer and burnt 500 calories. I also did 100 crunches. So far today I've burnt nearly all that I've eaten, and I feel like I've eaten loads!

It's fairly easy to motivate myself to exercise on the weekends.....it's during the week when I'm getting up really early and coming in really late where it all goes to hell! Nevertheless, I'm viewing this week as a little 'experiment', to see what happens with my weight when I allow myself to eat a much wider variety of foods, but keep a close eye on how much I'm eating and make sure that I burn a good deal of it off with exercise.

The last time I weighed myself (two days ago), I weighed 192, so let's see what this week brings.

Are you using myfitnesspal to track your cals?

I've calculated my BMR to be 1991 calories per day.....that's with very little activity / exercise. Therefore, I'm going to aim for a net daily calorie intake of between 1200 and 1491, which should give a minimum of a one pound loss per week (hopefully more!).

Assuming you already have it on your phone, and it's a free phone app, Isn't it free for your iPad? :)
