Our soil is dry and a little alkaline, maybe I'll give them another go, we have great luck with runner beans, and tomato's and cucumber do fine as well leanne
It's heavy clay soil here so I treasure and nurture my compost heaps. They are the real heroes in my garden. I, quite literally, will not allow my neighbours to throw kitchen scraps or garden trimmings out!
Been very busy in the garden of late. I have now got gooseberries planted and am about to get the swiss chard started. The radishes have just been sown and some oriental salad leaves to go with my normal salad leaf mix. Chives and mint have been added to the herbs. I have also been walking the dogs legs off early each morning. We go for miles along the River Ouse before the day gets hot.
Yeah, I think a lot of people will be doing that Jim. I would have myself but I'm off work this week so decided to get a good start. I just love watching stuff grow.
Good morning Jim. Yes, we did indeed get rain. We really needed it. The ground had those big, dry cracks in it. I was really thankful and so was my garden.
Had a good weekend. Got lots of gardening done. Broad beans are in and added Dill to the herb garden. My radishes and chard are coming along nicely and the tomatoes are going mad!
