Hi Harriet! Lucky you - I would've done exactly the same for my spontaneous trip! I say dont worry about going back on the shakes and just eat healthily (salad/veg/meat/fruit) this week before you go to NYC. I always have a super healthy week before NYC because I eat such pure crap out there! lol!
