New Year... New Start - onwards and downwards.

Just a quick one... got the call today, Ofsted are visiting our school for the next two days. Great... not!!! Not happy, very stressed and trying to avoid the chocolate and alcohol! Am getting more positive about it but still concerned, it's my first one. Just got home and got stuff to get sorted for tomorrow, catch up when I'm free from the evil inspectors!

You'll be awesome.

Set alarm for 6 but been awake since 5! Woke up and just had so much running through my head there was no chance I was getting to sleep. I'm prepared for today, well as prepared as I can be so I need to try not to worry. I've not really got a lot to do this morning once I get to school so I'm trying to resist going in super early (like now!) as all I'll do is fret and worry. It'll be fine... it'll all be fine...

Morning Miss G!

Morning caz, don't worry about the inspectors. Just do your day as planned and all will go well. Really good luck today! X

Best advice. Just be you -- you're AWESOME!

Got feedback, wasn't great but could have been worse. Think it was a little unfair in some ways, I was pulled up about not enough pace and routine but that was partly due to it being during a phonics lesson where half aren't normally in my class, where I had to do something different to normal because of lack of ICT (server is down) and that some of the kids I've only had for 5 half hour sessions if they're not in my class. So how can I have established clear routines and got them doing everything quickly?

Spoken to my parents and they've absolutely blown me away with their generosity. They said that they wanted to help financially and so we talked about it and they've said they reckon they can manage to contribute two thousand! Now my parents aren't poor but they're not loaded either, they have enough to get by on comfortably but that's such a big amount in the space of only a year. Truly amazed! Gives bus a bit more leeway when choosing a venue thankfully.

Two grand is a brilliant contribution and really lovely of them but I wouldn't relax the budget too much this early on as you will be amazed at how all the little miscellaneous expenses can mount up. I just don't get this idea of paying for room hire upfront. If you are catering for 80 guests this is usually thrown in as they cover it with the catering/drinks for that number surely? Location is important but keep your cool and you will find the perfect place I am sure. Don't panic.

Hi Caz,

It doesn't sound like you were observed in a normal situation -- plus, it's only the first few weeks of school. But -- if you started with an outstanding -- there'd be no where to go but down.

Have you considered 2015 at all? I mean, what's the hurry now you're committed? That would give you more time to save, maybe even start buying a house, and you could have your favourite venue and no one telling you want date you could and couldn't have? Just a thought. It just feels so rushed. That you are running round trying to find somewhere in the same week you got engaged instead of just enjoying it.

I don't even care about it now to be honest, seems no one does. It's actually worrying how little weight anything ofsted says has amongst the teaching profession. I've taken the advice that I feel is appropriate and have acted on it, that's all I can do.

Don't want to wait until 2015 really, want a baby before I'm 30 and there's no chance of that if we wait that long. Going to look at another venue now.

Me doing those things is me enjoying it! Only thing we've actively set out to do is the guest list for an idea of numbers and look for a venue. Everything else has been things I've come across while browsing, which I enjoy. Havent actually booked or paid for anything.

Happy Thursday!

I'd get a trial order in for those cupcakes, mind. Just to test they taste as good as they look. ;)

You know, I think that's a grand idea! Liked the venue, has taken top spot now. Going to price it all up and go back with Aaron on Saturday.
