Well I managed to resist the constant BBQ smells on Saturday and survived a night out but my hubby's Gran was rushed in to hospital in early hours of Sunday morning with suspected meningitis. Turned out to be a really bad reaction to chemotherapy she's having for lung cancer. Thankfully she's on the mend :Dbut we were in the hospital for up to 14 hours each on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. With no food packs, hospital canteen and shop I have regained 5lbs in 3 days.
I know in the grand scheme of things the only thing that matters is that she's ok but now I know she's ok im gutted that I didnt try harder to at least stay low carb. Back to work today and exhausted so allowing myself a simple solution day to get back in to it.
Well and truly bacm out of ketosis and back in the 13s:(

I am so sorry your poor gran has been so poorly :-( I hope she gets well soon and that the treatment is successful. We spend a lot of time in hosp with our youngest daughter and I know what you mean about the food, even the jacket spud counter has closed so its Burger King or Starbucks :-( And under those levels of stress you really don't give a flying fig about your weight do you!

I'm really surprised at how quick it went back on, d'you think its water weight from going back on carbs? I've read that carbs really absorb water and keep hold of it.

But don't be disheartened too much, stupid statement I know, but we have to survive life's crises, and you know you can lose it again honey, so just be determined and get back on that wagon. If you need a shoulder or ear, some tough love or comforting words, just drop me a message and I'll help however I can. xxx

Thanks Kerry
I'm hoping a lot of its water weight - surely it's impossible to gain 5lbs in 3 days without it being mostly water
Today has been torture being back out of ketosis!

Surely it cant be fat, you'd have had to consume an extra 17 THOUSAND calories to gain that! lol.

If you don't mind me asking on the back of your pain, how does it feel being back out of keyosis? Do all the old hunger pangs and cravings rush back?

Yesterday was like being back at day 1 but worse! I've done Vlcd and Atkins before so know how quickly the effects of ketosis disappear and that getting back on the wagon is harder when you don't have the gung ho motivation that you do on starting. That's why I started in simple solution but instead of having a 600 cal meal I had 200 cals of protein with each of my packs which helped a lot but I was definitely craving carbs all day. 1.5lbs off this morning though so a lot of it must be water. Just need to decide whether to daily weigh to keep me motivated knowing that Saturday weigh in could be an overall gain for the week OR ditch the scale and cancel this weeks weigh in and have a 2 week weigh in next Saturday which gives me time to catch up and misses the demotivating effect of recording a weekly gain

I think you should go for the two week weigh in, if you can stand it! I'm def converted to weekly, sooooo much less stress when you get over the old temptation to constantly weigh :)

I think you're right. I think it will totally demoralise me seeing it creeping down. A week on Saturday it is - may need to take scales to the dump though lol

The more I stay off them the easier it gets, and as long as I'm good I don't worry about it any more. Wish I'd discovered this years ago!!

If didn't weigh yesterday but hubby said I would be better to keep to official weekly weigh in or it will be too easy to make excuses to skip a week. Deep down I knew he was right so weighed this morning and the 5lbs is gone again :) unfortunately it didn't take any friends with it lol but in grand scheme of things I'm happy that no gain for the week. Onwards and downwards!

Good job on the 5lbs!! I relapsed when I discovered where the scales were hidden! Not impressed with what they had to say so I won't be doing that again! Why can't I listen to my own advice?!?!

If we could so that we'd all be a size 10 lol

Glad the 5lbs is gone and I'm sorry to hear about your nanny! Hope she is on the mend soon and the the lung cancer gets kicked in the butt!!! Xx

Thanks Chelly! She had a scan today and the tumour is responding really well to the chemo :)

That's really good news =) I've got my fingers crossed for her =)
