Pasata vs Pureed tomato's

I know you can use Pasatta in recipies and we're looking at making the diet coke chicken, and you should add it.
I cant get to the supermarket, but can i just puree some tomato's instead? x

Yes - passata is just sieved tomatoes

yeah i dont see why not, i have done this before too. Passata is sieved tomatoes, so what i did was blits a can of tomatoes and then push through a sieve to remove the pips.
