Post Break Up Body

Hi Guys

I've just started Fast 800 this week and, as usual, my mind turned immediately to the forums. I was reading through my old diary on here from 2012 and thought I should start a new one to keep me motivated.

I've just ended a relationship and found myself way heavier than I'm happy with so I've set myself a 2.5st loss goal to get my weight back down to pre-relationship levels. I'm joined by my housemate so we're not alone, but she is always better than me at dieting which is a little hard for my motivation (hence this thread). I have my starter weight noted down and will do a weekly check in on the scales.

Progress so far:
We kicked off Fast 800 on Tuesday. For the first two days I've had:
2/3 cups of tea per day (with milk)
Lunches: 2 boiled eggs on Tuesday | Leaves, slice of ham, 10 pistachios, olive oil, 3 mushrooms, 1 tomato on Wednesday
Dinners (from the app): Mince Lettuce "Tacos" ( Lettuce, red pepper, shredded carrot, cheddar, beef mince) on Tuesday | Beef Stir Fry (steak slices, bok choi, red pepper, another veg, soy sauce) on Wednesday

I haven't eaten lunch yet today but will probably go for a tin of tuna (120 cal) plus leaves, cucumber, some nut something, and a dollop of some cream or oil. For dinner we are going from the app for a cottage pie using mince and carrot and parsnip as the mash. my housemate will substitute for cauliflower mash.

I don't have breakfast on this plan and try to delay lunch as long as possible (post 13:30). Then we try to eat dinner by 19:30. This means that I am aiming for 18:6. My housemate will go lower on carbs than I will, but I will include things like lentils or parsnips (and of course the milk in my tea) as I prefer to ease into low carb.

One big stumbling block is that I have a week skiing from next Saturday. It's a catered holiday, so the diet is going to be completely out of the window, but I will try to make healthier choices (and will be exercising a lot). Will make weigh in date Saturday to Saturday so I can gauge the impact. It's not an ideal time to start, but as my housemate was good to go, I would rather start with her and then get back into it again after the trip.

Anyway, wanted to get it all written down - the first few weeks of these things are the hardest, so if I can keep this diary up beyond the end of the ski trip then I will have got over the major hump.

Thanks for reading - I always appreciate any other words of motivation, recipe suggestions, and how to cope with staying healthy on holiday.

Bab

Dinner last night was a bit of a headache trying to mash undercooked cauliflower, but lots of protein and filling.

I went to the dry ski slope for a practice session in the evening and then probably doubled my carbs for the day with a glass of ribena at 37g carbs. Wasn't really thinking about it which I put down to settling into the mindset.

Anyway, otherwise it was a low cal and healthy day.

Today is cold, but I can't think of a low carb soup, so I think lunch will be omelette or some boiled eggs. Dinner will be a cheat pizza with a low carb wrap base. My housemate is doing one of those almond flour bases, but almonds are a problem food for me. The day should be good for calories, if not macros.

Breezy start to the diet so far, although I know that I'm not being super strict.

Did my first weigh in today. I have lost 9lbs. But it's not as impressive as it sounds. My baseline from 2 weeks ago was taken half way through the day, wearing a big jumper. That gives me 1'10" left to lose. Super motivating start!

Anyway, yesterday was rubbish for macros, but I stuck to the plan with boiled eggs and a wrap pizza with spinach, mushrooms, goats cheese & those antipasto meats. So yummy!

Today is a bit iffy. I've got lunch with the family, so there will be wine and no way to track macros and I'll definitely go over. I've already looked at the menu. The best options are a 440 cal cod, or a 460 cal sirloin. The steak has more protein, but the cod is something I couldn't make at home so leaning to that. I'll also have some olives at 56 cal, some broccoli and green beans for 150 cal. Then 2 large glasses of wine could be 350 cal. That's 1000 cal at a best case scenario. I'm totally fine with that though, especially as I'm not following the diet 100% for the next 2 weeks.

Fingers crossed the wine stays at 2 glasses.

The wine didn't stay at 2 glasses. Many more drinks followed by dancing until 3am. C'est la vie. On the plus side, I stuck to the food goal.

Today, I felt terrible and wanted comfort food. I had 4 sausages @ 480 cal, 3/4 of a tin of heinz beans @ 260 cal, and 3 glasses of squash at around 100 cal. Total 840 cal.

Took the dog for a walk and otherwise felt sorry for myself all day. Back on plan meals tomorrow.

Hi braving a bikini,

The fast 800 is definitely the way to go if you want weight losses of more than 2lbs per week. I had a starting weight of 23st 3lbs & I lost 11lbs in my first week & I lost 3st on the diet during lockdown. I really missed snacking so whenever I felt hungry I had a glass of water.

Only problem was I was eating a lot of eggs because the diet said “eggs are you’re friend” So I went off eggs.

I wasn’t as adventurous as you so had a lot of repetition. Wish I would have tried those tacos I might introduce them on my slimming world plan. I still have the fast 800 simple veg pie, if you like aubergine, courgette, mashed cauliflower & parmesan that’s what it is.

So I’ve just completed my first week on Slimming world & have lost 6.5lbs so I’m now 17st 12.5lbs. I usually find a big loss for me means the scales won’t move in week 2.

Got an induction with the gym next week so I plan on doing at least 40 mins in the gym once a week & an hour swim at least once a week.

Wishing you all the best on your weight loss journey & I’ll be checking back in with you for recipe ideas, so thanks.

Got a 2 week holiday coming up in 10 weeks & would really love to lose 20lbs but I’d settle for 10lbs.

Thanks for the message @Ali Kat . I can only hope for such success to lose 3st! Seems like you've lost more since then, did you switch over to SW straight away?

I am expecting to STS this week. It was such a big loss in week one and I always hold more weight this time in the month. Any further loss would just be a bonus but won't beat myself up.

I went for one gym session a few weeks ago then haven't made it back. I'm thinking my holiday will maybe start the exercise mentality. I love the pool, but the cold damp walk home isn't doing it for me yet.

I'll be sure to write more about any of the recipes that seem worth sharing. We've just chosen the next week for today's shopping, so lots of good ones coming up. Today is the classic where you are stuck with whatever you haven't eaten yet. Kale and halloumi salad planned for dinner. I am not sure what I was thinking when I chose that. Raw kale is barely edible, so the tahini dressing needs to do a lot of heavy lifting. I had a fast 800 shake this morning. It's been filling which I really needed, but the texture was...something.

So my weight loss journey … I was eating between 1400 - 1800 calories per day for 6 weeks from the end of June 2024 to day 1 slimming world 9.8.24 & I went from 20st 2lbs to 19st 5.5lbs. 10.5lb loss.

I went from 19st 5.5lbs to 17st 5lbs on slimming world from 9.8.24 - 20.12.24.
(19 weeks)

I put a stone on from 20.12.24 - 23.02.25 but have got 6.5lbs off in the 1st week of being back on the slimming world plan. I’m really hoping with exercising twice a week I can lose 6lbs a month, but I’ll still be happy if it’s 4lbs a month because it’ll be a loss.

I discovered I can live without bread & potatoes, but not pasta & rice. When I was on the fast 800 I ate konjac rice & low carb pasta. They tasted alright to me.

Another day, another disaster. I forgot that I had agreed to drinks, so instead of a lovely balanced meal for dinner I spent my calories on a couple of glasses of wine, a slice of ham and a handful of peanuts.

Ok, definitely no random plans for the next 4 days. Going to be so nutritious. Kale and halloumi for lunch.

Eating very early today after the lack of nutrients at dinner last night. Made myself the most amazing winter salad from the fast 800plan.

Toast a tablespoon of pine nuts and set aside. Sweat half a diced onion in half a tbsp of oil until browning. Then chuck into the pan 15g pesto, 50g spinach, 50g feta, the pine nuts and half a drained tin of lentils. Warm through and add s&p to taste.

So delicious and fills a dinner plate. Also 30g of all macros and 12g fibre so super balanced. Will definitely make that again with the other half of my lentils. It was 540 cal though so will have a lighter dinner this eve.

Not the dreaded konjac!! ;) Never had the rice, but I totally failed with the noodles. I love a stir fry, but now I just have it meat veg and sauce.

It's a really impressive loss. To have 2 months off and your already only half a stone up is really good. I don't think I've ever managed to get back on track after a diet stall. Great willpower!

That lentil salad sounds amazing! I was debating what to have with my cod tonight, and I think it will be something along those lines

Bit of a miss on the calorie goal yesterday. Saw a recipe for chicken breast with a sliver of cheese melted on top for only 300 calories. Was already making it when I realised that it only used half a chicken breast, so my recipe was another 200 cals. Whoops. Anyway, it was yummy and I managed 90g of protein yesterday for a total 1080 calories and all really clean foods.

Today the plan is a fast800 430 cal chicken cacciatore as there is leftover chicken. And I'll reduce serving size by a quarter to make another lentil salad for 400cal. Heading to the dry ski slope as well for a bit of exercise.

Stuck to plan yesterday with the addition of a sugar free bottle of apple and blackcurrant at the ski slope for 11 whole calories.

Feeling good today. I have the Fast 800 teriyaki salmon with courgette planned for dinner at 420 cal, and I'm thinking something with egg for lunch - maybe two scrambled eggs (250 cal?), 50g feta (130 cal) and salad leaves (10 cal).

Only 2 more days before I'm on holiday and looking forward to it. My practice session yesterday gave me a lot more confidence about getting out on the snow again, and felt a lot easier than the week before. Still, I'm pleased that I don't need to use drag lifts in France as my arms were done hauling my butt up the slope all afternoon.

Felt quite hungry yesterday, or bored or something. Whichever it was, I was thinking about food most of the day. Still stuck to the plan, with a veg substitution for the courgettes from the dinner. Teriyaki salmon is delicious and would never have thought of it. I'm usually the same honey mustard or lemon dill when I make salmon. It was very moreish.

I didn't really enjoy the scrambled eggs but, I always find myself going a bit funny about eggs when I'm dieting.

What's on the menu today - dinner is cheat pizza same as last week. Goats cheese, antipasto meats, veggies, Passata, on a wrap base. It's a pretty easy 500 cal. I know that it's very low on protein so, for lunch I'm thinking to retry my half a chicken breast grilled with a bit of cheese and some veg. That adds 35g protein for only 300 cal.

Also doing all my packing for the trip today. Leaving the house at 4am tomorrow for the flight :(

Early start for you, but I'm sure it will be worth it! I haven't been skiing in YEARS, but used to love it.

I love a miso glaze on salmon as well. Same as you though, I tend to fall into the trap of doing the same thing. My mission is to be more creative again. Because I know I enjoy cooking and eating more when I do.

Lost 3lbs at the last weigh in which is great progress. Fully expecting to go backwards this week with the increased alcohol and carbs.

Food diary already looking thicker than normal. Yesterday, I had a skinny latte at the airport and a 250cal protein yoghurt on the plane. Had a niçoise salad for lunch and for dinner had a light goats cheese salad and a beef bourguignon. Stayed away from desert and only ate a couple of mouthfuls of the potato that came with the beef. Also had 4 glasses of wine. Ignoring the wine, I think it was healthy choices but, definitely not dieting.

Today, I had a sausage, a bit of scrambled egg and half a fried tomato. Plus a can of Orangina on the slopes. Had about 3 hours of snowboarding but the wind ended my day a couple of hours early. Tonight it's risotto and chicken saltimbocca (chicken wrapped in prosciutto I found out). Will try to keep away from the tiramisu. Also, the chalet has just made a victoria sponge for afternoon snack. I'm trying to avoid looking directly at it at the minute. I'm sure there will be another few glasses of wine.

Have a fab time. I’m going out drinking on Friday daytime. I’ll be on the double pink gins! I’m taking my own diet lemo with me as not a big fan of slimline tonic. I’m trying to save my syns up. I haven’t had a drink for 8 weeks so I’ll be a lightweight ha ha
