First off, some of this may make more sense to people living in and around Glasgow who are familiar with the layout and train system...but for everyone else it should still come across OK.

A funny story - By Stephen F Clark I
Ok this is what happened to me tonight, I just have to share somewhere!
My town has 2 train lines through it, I live about a 20 minute walk from a station on each, this is very handy!
So I am about to leave to head to pipe band practice in Glasgow but because of the weather felt I should best check how the trains are running. One line is off completely (well to the point where the 2 lines meet in the next town) due to the weather and my usual station on the other has been flooded and trains aren't stopping there.
No major issue, as I had plenty of time so I walk to the station beyond that, about half an hour from my house. I get the first train that comes. We get 2 stops along the line and then the train breaksdown. We get off after about 10 minutes of the driver trying to sort it and get the next train.
Journey after this is ok and we get to Glasgow Central (I can start using station names now...didn't want people turning up at my local stations looking for me
) and head to the low level. The trains here are never on time, but are quite frequent. The first one in terminates at Partick, only a couple of stops along. Get off there.
Partick is an interchange so only so many trains go to my stop. 25 minutes until the next one to Garscadden was! And then it got delayed by 5 minutes further! I then notice trains aren't really arriving when they are saying they are on the boards...as they are delayed I assume they are getting in a bit earlier.
So my train comes in at it's advertised time and I get on. Usually the on-board announcements would work, but not today for some reason...no matter. I get to next stop and as we are pulling away the train says the next stop is Anniesland. That is NOT on my line!
So I get off at Anniesland. This is about 8, practice starts at half 7. I think to myself 'fvck going back through that joke rail system, I roughly know the direction to go so will walk it'.
I think I did a looney tunes 'wrong turn at Albuquergue' thing here as I ended up completely lost. I got on to Great Western Road and just followed it. I then LEFT Glasgow and entered Clydebank! Luckily I knew where I was now as - ironically - my pipe band used to practice here.
I had ended up at Drumry train station...about 3 stops along from the one I got off at...on the same line! This was 9pm! I had given up on practice already and had texted my wee brother - who was at it - informing him I had decided to go home (not that I got lost mind you!).
So I get the train there, back to Glasgow. The first train advertised is the one that is terminating further up the line. I get that to the station advertised - with my wee brother getting on at Paisley from practice having gotten a lift there!!! - and wait on the next train there.
The only bit of luck being my usual station on the other line had re-opened so I could get off there and get home.
Oh and I still haven't had my tea so I done all this while hungry.
...sometimes I don't even know myself!
