Purple Hugs - Babe in arms!!

Well a day of mixed blessings..

Did some painting in our bedroom - got about half of it done and plan to 'attack' it again in the morning. Really is coming together and very excited.

Flooring.. may have to wait till we've sorted xmas out first though.. I don't want to do last minute shopping etc for xmas, and our car has been at the mechanics today - we have had a problem of smell of petrol, got him out last week and booked in for today (when we'd run the petrol down). Well anyway he's replaced a hose (removed tank and refitted it) and the fault is still there.. apparantly it's 'spurting petrol' :( So tomorrow he's now looking for another part price and if that is too dear he'll be looking at a new tank!! Doesn't sound good does it!
So.. looks like my first maternity allowance payment will dissapear to the mechanic! :sigh:

Had a long chat with DH about xmas, as he wants to do the flooring in our room, but honestly if I'm xmas shopping last minute before baby is due I'll flip! :flirt2: So we're going to sort things out before we think of the flooring will wait. Just having the room wallpapered, painted and fresh will be a big lift anyhow. And it'll allow us a bit of 'a kitty' if we need it for whatever reason later on. Really don't want to have to stess over money over xmas and while having baby.

Just can't believe our luck with the car at the moment.

Thanks hun, feeling a bit better in cold light of day. :sigh:

Painting has resumed and should be finished today! Just the glossing to do next week - when we can get to B&Q for gloss - and have money!! lol

Sun is shining but it's chilly today.

Hope you can sort or lay up Alans car till you have the money - I know the nightmare scenario.

Sonds like you are doing well with your new house! Exciting times.

Babys room isn't going to be done till after xmas, it's the 'junk room' with baby being in with us at first - till around easter or later likely. I'm in no rush but depends on how feeding goes etc. Fingers x'd BF will help if I can get it established.

Have made plans to go to the local BF support group in November to show myself and meet some new faces. I hate meeting new people but hope it'll be easier after baby arrives to go and get support as a 'routine' thing so that I can get BF established if at all possible. I'm determined to give it my best shot. :D

saw a lovely plaque on ebay last night
5557_1.JPG

Shabby Chic Personalised "Made A Wish" Christening Gift on eBay (end time 11-Oct-09 19:06:00 BST)
that I'm planning to get - either one for baby and then one with all 3 girls names on it - or just the one with 3 girls names (to keep things fair). :D We are planning to put it up in our room as it'll go with the vintage/shabby chic sort of look we're doing.

Laura Ashley do some lovely little loveheart hooks that would look great with it.
They have a few little photo frames in too that would look lovely - they're in the sale at the moment just hope they last long enough for me to get some when we have cash. :D

well painting is done for today. Final coat on a bit of it tomorrow and then just glossing.

Car is another story.
we are going to have to ask for it back without being repaired - footing the bill of £120 so far. :(
We will have to shop around for the part to fix it as it's £300 for part alone from renault. Can't afford that plus labour on top after having spent what we have, given it's age etc. So.. fingers x'd we can get it cheaper and go from there when we have the part.
I need a car to get to my horse, so am going to have to use it as little as possible in the meantime but at least I can get by. I just hope nothing else goes wrong on it. Head is in hands at this point today I must admit.

lol duct tape is about right abz I tell ya.. that or a scrappy! lol

well here we are and it's now I dunno day 3 I think - I'm in some sort of housebound shock I think - our hill prevents me going far as I can't get back up it! lol
Graham rode his mountain bike 5 miles to the post office and small supermarket today (co-op). Our local shop is just too small in stock. Bless him he said he nearly got blown over on the coastal path on the way back as it's on the edge of the coast and it's so blustery today. Well he came back DRIPPING literally - but bless him he'd filled his backpack with shopping and even bought me a bar of galaxy as a treat! :D

the mechanic called and has had no joy for the part other than the £300 from the dealer. So we've told him to put the car back together and we'll get the part from the auto factors I found in Nottingham - which will do the part at £126 instead. We'll have to wait a couple of weeks till maternity allowance comes through as we'll have his labour again but fingers x'd we can get it sorted soon and without paying £300 for a single part.

Bit of a nightmare that we've spent money for nothing as it's coming back with the same problem just a smart new fuel hose. that you can't see!! But ahh well. At least I can see my horse. I wish I could say we can go shopping but we're skint now!!

Pregnancy wise - feeling great, still getting hardenings in my tummy but am used to them so much now! lol I just keep hoping it's toning my uterus for action later! ;)
Baby is keeping active and has been squirming around a bit more - so assume that's because she's getting bigger. I was laying on my back in bed the other night nattering to Graham who was feeling her move, when she suddenly swapped from transverse to up and down - my goodness it felt WEIRD almost like she twisted at the same time! lol really bizarre.

Can't believe I'm about to hit 30 weeks on Sunday.. 20 weeks seems like it was yesterday and to think 26 weeks have passed since I found out about baby is MAD! Very happy mummy to be.

oh mrs hugs so sorry car/finances causing you grief...bless your hubby for getting on his bike ..ah the treats of living in the country!
I haven't done it before, but I have thought that when I have babs or a toddler in tow I might just go on line and get tesco to deliver a month of tinned frozen supplies at a time (getting hubby to pick up fresh goods as needed).

And your hubby brought you chocolate, what a love! I am very very impressed! Sounds like you have a good one there =)

You do know I'm called Jane don't you? ;) Just wondering if you didn't and thats why the Mrs hugs (I don't mind though).

Indeed I was impressed too! lol was yummy and even better as the girls were still at school. lol

We live on the edge of a town in a small village. There are towns in either direction so not essentially 'country' but definately rural and no car has been a nightmare! lol
Car is back and the mechanic has said it's not leaking now, so he's hopeful - but did warn it might not last as he did a bit of welding. So DH still wants to get the part when we can afford it so that it's not a big deal later, which makes sense.

Good thing thats come of it is we have finished wallpapering our bedroom and it's fully painted with the exception of the gloss now! :D

Shopping online is something we were talking about just half an hour ago! lol DH is terrible for wanting to go and get 'a few bits' at a time.. he'd go daily if he could get away with it honestly! lol I hate it, and will only go once a week under sufferance anymore than that! lol So I've warned him that we'll do a 'bulk' shop for big / heavy items and perhaps get some delivered. Bearing in mind we are both due over xmas it'll be a nightmare otherwise! lol
Are you planning on breast feeding? or formula? I'm hoping to BF but know I'll have to have some ready made formula in 'just in case' as don't want to be stuck over xmas.

well here I am.. 30 weeks!! my goodness I'm 3/4 the way through and 70 days till my EDD!
That means 75 till xmas!!!

Baby is still as active I'd say but feeling 'squirms' rather than kicks. Went for a long walk yesterday down to the beach we overlook and it was wonderful in the sunshine. but I think I likely went too far! lol mucked out in the morning too so today I'm aching a little and woke with muscular pain at 4am - paracetomol worked at 5am though so that was something I tried deep breathing till then but to no avail. I think I needed to sit up in honesty.
Anyway I caught up on sleep from 6.30 till 9.15 so that was something.
Spent a lovely morning with my horse, pottering up the yard is so lovely without the kids as much as I love them being around too. :) Am sorting feed out for winter and bedding so that I don't have to fret while baby is due or just born.
Also DH has agreed to start driving lessons again - he doesn't have his license. the plan is to add him to our insurance so that IF anything happens and I have a Csection then he can drive our car with me as the driver in passenger seat! God help us! lol ;) but if only for going to our horse and shopping then it'll be a godsend.

so.. that's it final countdown of weeks into single numbers on it's way! can't wait to see my baby now I must admit. :)

Wow, 30 weeks!! I remember that feeling such a milestone with jocelyn!!

Sorry to hear about your car, glad that you've got access to cheaper parts though.. They're expensive when they go wrong aren't they? Something we could all do without with this recession too..

Thanks girls! ((hugs))
Kirsty you'll be there in no time!!

Shel - congrats on 32 weeks!!!

sunflowers - thanks hun! You'll be back there soon enough eh! lol

College was a wash out again tonight - new tutor as our tutor on mat leave now - had NO idea where we were up to and sent us home nearly 2 hours early! :( He didn't even know the pc part of the library closes at 7pm. Still.. better luck next week he seemed nice enough just dumped in at the deep end I think! lol

Well here I am.. yes it's 3.43 am and I've been out of bed for an hour now! lol

I tossed and turned, hot, need a wee, hot need a wee, stiff, sore belly, OMG is that all the time is? I was convinced it was about 5am when I got up! lol
Still I'll go back to bed in an hour or two and 'nap' till morning. lol Baby has been awake and gone back off now! lol
Oh and to prove it's the middle of the night.. I can hear owls outside!! lol twit twoo.. twit twoo.. lol

hi Jane, also awake in middle of night, been awake about an hour, dreaming of a cuppa and a muffin, so have padded downstairs to give into the craving... its now 5.47am and I need more sleep! Just weighing up whether to go into work or have an A/L day to get some more sleep and fix the rest of my baby and hospital bags...hope you managed to get back to sleep. I will try again after finishing my cup of earl grey.......oh and congratulations on getting to 30 weeks, it's fab isn't it? not long now =)

Awww yay, 30 weeks, your 3/4's of the way through now! :D
Hope you managed to get back to sleep OK, I know the feeling of sometimes getting up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep.
Poor tutor of yours lol, he'll probably have a better idea of what he's doing next time you go, well...you hope lol.
xxxx

Not long now Angie at all! :D You are super organised, I keep 'thinking' of doing a hospital bag but I think really my heart isn't in it yet! lol I want a home birth.. but then I need things in the right place and until we've glossed the bedroom that isn't going to happen. next week maybe.

Hope you got back to sleep. I went back up at around 5.30 or so, dozed till alarm went off then re-set it twice! :p got up at 7.45 in the end. lol

Abbie I hope the tutor has a better idea too! I think he was embarrassed enough to sort something out and seemed to ask the right questions just didn't have the work for us. So things should get better. lol

MW Appointment today went well! :) Baby is head down but not engaged - DH said 'thank god' to that one! :p
BP 100/60, Fundal Height 33cm.

MW said pressure and tightenings means my body is remembering what it had to do last time and baby will dropping in and out of pelvis more this time etc. So that's good news. :D
NO protein so that's great, and she wasn't concerned over discharge yesterday just said to let her know if it becomes frequent.

Had a long chat about Homebirth and don't need an assessment as 2nd baby and quite routine round here. we went through my birth plan vaguely and she is happy that they can accomodate it all!! :D She said she is my 2nd midwife even if not actually on call herself. She is fine for waterbirth but they are pretty hands off - just said to get a mirror if I want one used in the pool and she'll bring the torch! lol they don't have an underwater sonic aid but she said she'll try and loan one or she'll ask me to stand up for a few seconds to check baby if need to.
She was also really supportive of Hypno birthing when I mentioned I was practising it and asked if I had the CD etc as it has really helped the mums she's birthed before who have used it, and that they really did 'remember' what to do so not to feel silly practising.

They don't leave a birth pack, but only ask that I supply a shower curtain to protect carpet if need but but other than that they'll bring everything. Gas & Air supplied but she doesn't 'do' pethedine - I don't want it anyway so thats fine. She'll be able to stitch me if my episotomy scar tears or I tear in birth as well so that's fine - only warned that if a 3rd degree she'd have to refer me to hospital for stitching but no need to stay in.

Can have a physiological 3rd stage too. :)

Oh and she joked about having enough milk in for cuppa's! lol

We talked about 'going overdue' and what will happen. I'll be offered a sweep and consultant apointment at 10 days if need it, and then induction at 12 days.

So.. my 'dream' birth has been approved! Just hope baby was and my body was listening!! :p

sounds great Jane, also say mw today, baby is also upside down, bp okay wee okay, fundal height now 32!

I am glad you posted about what a home birth would entail as I tried to ask mw today but she just brushed me off again saying to see her in 3 weeks and then talk about the plan at 36 weeks...not happy with this but not sure who I go to to get advice as I have now asked her twice and she has brushed it off, she also gave me a sheet re blood results to put in my file and I have just noticed she has given me someone elses, similar name and age & due date as me, but not me! will have to look out for her in local hospital, just in case they mix us up.

Sorry 'nuff about me! Just curious about how mw appointments are different in diff areas. Thank goodness for the internet and you guys, have found out so much more stuff from you than my mw.

It's great to hear your dream birth could be in the pipeline so to speak =)

Thanks girls!
Kirsty, I must admit it seems much closer now having talked about the birth! lol

Angie - shame about your MW but I don't think it's unusual. Some do an 'assessment' at 36 weeks and won't look at it before then as depends on health etc. And some have a box they drop off of stuff before birth but my MW said they bring it all with them so not to worry.

Fingers x'd they'll go through things with you nearer the time. ((Hugs))
I must admit I didn't have a clue really when I had Erin and could have done with a website like this for sure so it's lovely you have outside support other than from our MW team.
That's awful about the blood sheet, you should really speak to the MW and return it as they'll need to find yours and get that one to the correct mum to be. Have you been in touch with the hospital at all? Could you speak to the birthing unit for more info, or a tour perhaps if you are having bub at hospital?

I did think about doing a tour in case, but seems a waste of time and if I end up there I'll just have to cope! lol

also have you been told about antenatal classes? or doing NCT classes? I'm not doing any I must admit but only because home birth and hypno birthing doesn't make it relevant. I wish I had the money for the course but I think the practise i've been putting in, vids I've watched with graham and our plans will help. I do feel the Mp3's i'm using are working etc.

Gosh I feel like a kid at xmas at the moment! lol

Oh and I bought my birthing ball today! Just need it pumped up now and I can see the girls throwing it around the room! lol

Sounds a really positive appointment PH, I hope you manage to get your homebirth! Sounds like you have wonderful pro-active mws too who love homebirths!!

Angie - it's not unusual to not talk about births before 36 weeks although I can see it's disappointing when you've questions you want answering!!
