IS there an alternative for quark for baking tried it with some cupcakes earlier and it was too tangy for me I added sweetener and vanilla essence but couldn't get rid of the rangy sour taste

Hey I would keep trying with the quark-experiment with different flavours-more sweetener-mashed banana in cake (adds minimal syns). It really is a good thing! I also use if for savoury stuff too!

If you want to sub it then maybe yoghurt or have you tried adding more eggs to a cake mix instead and whisking a few of the whites up which gives the cake air.

There my few suggestions!! Xx

Hi there, I am re-joining SW on Thurs but on the recipes I have looked up in advance, Quark seems used A ALOT. Seeing as it is a special brand is it quite expensive? Is there a cheaper alternative like extra light soft cheese or anything? Thanks, student here :p

Hi 250g pot of quark in tescos is less than £1 I think...from memory! I remember because I thought it was gonna be expensive but when i found it bought two because of how cheap it is! X

Ohhhh excellent! Thanks for the info Ive never cooked with it before. Does it pretty much taste the same as extra light soft cheese then? Sorry :p

I find it more bitter but I've only used it once so I need to experiment more it's a great thing to use so give it a go it's supposed to be lovely in pasta let me know if you try it I'm new to it like you

Have to say other than sweetened for s cream cheese carrot cake effect I only use it as a savoury option. Flavoured or natural FF yog is a good one for cakes! Search the forum and have a look at slimmingeats blog for ideas, xx
