Hello Everyone,
My first ever food diary I'm Sarah, 28 years old.
First of all I'm 28 weeks 3 Days pregnant with an amazing little baby girl growing inside me. This is my first child and me and my husband are so excited. I know I shouldn't diet while pregnant but I have a reason....
Both my brothers and my mum have type 1 diabetes. I've been tested a few times in the past and have always tested negative. Anyway I was tested for gestational diabetes last week and I have it. It is basically diabetes that remains with me for my pregnancy and then disappears, baby shouldn't be effected. So I have to watch my diet for the remainder of my pregnancy. They suggested slimming world to me but I've never got on well with that plan so thought I'd give 'Weight Watchers Filling & Healthy' a go. I need to follow a plan, I'm not one of those people who can just eat healthy.
I plan on doing Filling and Healthy days so I can fill up on healthy fruit, veg, meat etc and keep everything natural. Then I have my 49 weeklies (or 2 treats). I won't be depriving my body as there is no limitation on calories. I will listen to my body and eat when I need to. While cutting out many sugars etc by eating a more healthy range of food.
NHS recommend an extra 300 calories per day in the 3rd trimester for baby. Which is about 7pp. I have set my weight watchers app to breast feeding, which is an extra 7pp. So if I need to do a pp day then I will be eating enough calories.
Height - 5ft9
Starting Weight - 211lbs
BMI - 31.16 (28 weeks pregnant)
Aim
1. A healthy baby & a healthy mum. Gestational diabetes isn't something to be ignored
2. In the 3rd trimester a 1lb per week gain is normal. I have gained a bit more weight than I should due to GD but the midwife said a 1/2lb gain would be a better aim for the next 12 weeks.
3. I plan to breastfeed so I will continue to follow ww while breast feeding. I'm not too bothered about jumping straight into it full force as I want to enjoy being a mummy but I want to stay healthy. Once I'm ready to get serious my aim is 11 stone which is a comfy weight I always was until about 2 years ago.
4. Walk to work everyday if possible
I plan for this to be more of a photo diary. I will track my food on the ww app. Today I go shopping. I've just had porridge and berries. I am making a curry in slow cooker for tonight. I am mindful of the plan but my official real start date is tomorrow. Weigh in day is Sunday
