Did anyone see the first episode of Secret Eaters in the week?
It was really interesting; basically, following a family and filming everything they eat in order to show them why they can't lose weight and how many excess calories they're eating. Without exception, they were all mindlessly eating at some stage in the week, without even realising it!
But, the bit that really interested me was the experiment to show how we react when food is on offer (and within reach) and how we react when food is not on view and we have to walk to get it. It was tested with a glass bowl of sweets on a desk and an opaque bowl of sweets further down the office. At the end of 2 hours, the glass bowl's contents were 60% lower than the opaque bowls!
A bit if a ramble BUT the upshot is that 'out of sight, out of mind' really does work!
Not very Dukan I know but for those of us binging on dairy, craving crisps, etc it might just help a wee bit?
Have a good day!
