Secret Slimming in Paris

Oh wow - 6 hours! I bet that seemed like luxury to you. It's surprising how little sleep we can get by on but it's great when babies start sleeping for longer periods. I hope it continues!

The perineal retraining sounds very French! I had to Google it as I'd never heard of it. Did you walk? It isn't nice weather here for walking today.

Food is sounding good and well done you on another Red day.

It really did feel like a luxury!! He did it again last night too, lets hope he's getting into a pattern! Yes we did walk, it was a lovely day, cold but sunny with a clear blue sky - my favourite weather! My Mum said the same thing, that it was pouring down in County Durham. I have another appointment at 11 am today and it's forecast showers but it seems OK at the moment so I may just risk it, I'll put the rain cover on the pram so at least Clevins won't get wet!

He was a bit cranky yesterday so I didn't really find time to come on Minimins. We went for a 2 hour walk as it was a nice day again and I stopped and got some Heinz beans from a big supermarket down the road where they've got an English aisle and so I decided to do a green day which I really enjoyed. I went a bit crazy with HEs though, but stayed within the breastfeeding limits and didn't have many syns so hopefully it's all good!

I'm not starting to run again yet, we moved house in August and I have yet to find a nice route (I used to run by the river which was pretty to look at and also didn't have very many passers-by). I'm also not keen on running with a pushchair. I know I could leave Clevins with his Daddy but I'm in no rush. I think as long as we go for a walk everyday it should be fine for the moment.

Here's food for yesterday:

Breakfast: 2xweetabix (HEB1) with 250ml milk (HEA1)
Snack: yoghurt, banana, strawberries
Lunch: jacket potato with beans and 90g cheese (HEB2, HEA2 & HEA3!!!!) (it was soooo nice and cheesy!) and salad
Snack: yoghurt, orange, 3xtucs (4.5 syns)
Dinner: actifried plantain (no oil), green beans, broccoli and a tomato sauce (with onions, peppers and mushrooms)

I'll start a new post with food for today so I don't get myself confused!

xx

Today is going to be a red day

Breakfast: ham, mushroom and tomato omelette
Lunch: ham salad, yoghurt, banana
Snack: 3 dairylea triangles & 1 light babybel (HEA1)
Dinner: kfc chicken (wholemeal bread crumbs = heb1) & spinach

Yes, we did find somewhere eventually, it's really pretty and much more spacious than the last place but I'm sure we'll have to move again once Clevins starts moving about!

Yesterday was a bit hectic, a friend came to visit from London & I was worried about food but I convinced her we should have salad for lunch so it was all good in the end. It was really nice to catch up!

Here's food:

Breakfast: 2weetabix (HEB1) and 250 ml ss milk (HEA1)
Lunch: ham and mozzarella (HEA2) salad with olives (3syns ish)
Snack: yoghurt, banana, orange
Dinner: Turkey leg (I was too tired at this point to cook any veg to go with it, I literally had a couple of mouthfuls then went to bed!)

I weighed myself this morning as I knew we were having guests today and I would have to go off plan. I've lost 3 kgs!! Yeyy!!! That's definitely motivated me to keep with it!

So today a colleague came round. She gave birth just 4 days after me! She's in a different department to me but we chatted all the way through pregnancy and it's brought us quite close together. It was nice to meet her little boy & husband and for our babies to meet! I made lasagne and she brought lemon meringue pie! The only syns on the lasagne was the bechamel sauce which I worked out to be 2 syns per portion (I just used it on the top layer for show really) however I did have garlic bread which I made and must have been about 9syns for the portion I had and I had to have some of the dessert she brought so it's safe to say I've gone well over today, I'm glad I weighed in this morning so as not to be discouraged! So here's food for today:

Extra easy

Breakfast: 'fried' egg & mushroom sandwich (HEB)
Lunch: lasagne (2syns) + HEA (cheese), garlic bread (9syns) and lemon meringue pie (+++++++++++++++++syns!!)
Dinner: nothing! too full

So I have a week to work the pie off! Wish me luck!

I hope all the Mummys have had a lovely mothers day! xxx

Naughties on Mothering Sunday don't count, particularly not on your very first one! You'll have two a year, won't you - the British and the French one's?

It's good to have a friend to talk about babies with, particularly when said babies are so close in age.

And congratulations on the loss - what absolutely cracking start!

Just having a quick catch up.
Clevins is an unusual, but really lovely name. Why did the Mr choose it? It's quite quirky, I like it :D

Super well done on so many good days in a row and all the walking you're doing. It's so impressive considering you have a new baby!
His sleeping sounds really good - judging by all the baby related horror story's I hear at work. They really don't "sell" babies ;)
I hope he doesn't have to have an operation! Sounds like a traumatic experience for you both. But I do hope he's ok :)

I should in theory have 2 mothers days but I'm not sure my husband will ever remember so until Clevins is old enough to remember I'll probably just celebrate the UK one (my Mum sent me a card and flowers signed from Clevins :). Yes! it is really nice talking to R about stuff, and she has a little boy too which is nice. They can be (forced) friends while they're growing up! The only downside is that she lives literally on the other side of the city so it takes about an hour to get there which isn't the end of the world but it isn't like we can just pop round for a cup of tea either, especially with a baby it's a bit of a mission!

Thanks Kelly. Well, I must confess, it was made up more than chosen! His Mum is called Clementine and his Dad is called Vincent, the two mushed together becomes Clevins! I really wasn't a fan at first but I have warmed to it now. It's also a nice way to make Fabien feel involved, after I'd carried the baby for nine months etc he was feeling a bit excluded so I let him name him.

Yesterday Clevins just would not nap! I tried absolutely everything but he just had so much energy! The downside was by late afternoon he was really really cranky. He seems to be making up for it today though, we went for a 2-hour walk (I eventually found the river near our new place!) and he slept the whole way and even stayed asleep while I took his coat off and put him in his bouncy chair. I'm hoping he'll be nice and refreshed for tomorrow as we have to take him for his first batch of injections which will probably be quite hard on him I think.

So, with him being awake/cranky yesterday I didn't have any time to come on here and write coherently (although I did try! so here's my food for yesterday:

Red Day:

Breakfast: 2x oranges, 2xyoghurts, 1 banana
Lunch: steak & salad
Snack; 2xbabybel (HEA1), 5xdairylea light (HEA2), strawberries
Dinner: chicken & broccoli
(I forgot my HEB!)

Today is also a red day:

Breakfast: 2xweetabix (HEB1) with FFNY
Lunch: smoked mackerel salad (I bought the mackerel as it's on offer but I've just read that it's synned and the syns vary between brands (which are all British!) so I'm going to allow for the high end of 3.5 syns per 150g
Dinner: roast lamb & roast veg

I'll update with snacks and if/when things change!

xx

Thanks Patty! Everything was fine in the end, he cried a bit but soon forgot! He's had no fever or anything so I'm pleased!

I had a good day on Wednesday, a green day:

Breakfast: banana & yoghurt
Lunch: jacket potato, beans & cheese (HEA1+2) with salad
Dinner: actifried plantain with roasted veg & broccoli

I didn't do so well yesterday though! We got a call on Monday saying F''s Dad was coming over for a business trip and that he had some free time on Thursday afternoon to see us which is really exciting because I've never met him before! As we were only originally meant to see him for a couple of hours I didn't bother making dinner in advance but in the end one of his meetings was cancelled so we could stay with him until 8pm! It was lovely for him to meet Clevins & me and it was nice for Fabien too, as he hasn't seen him for 8 years! 8000km is a very long way and a return ticket is 5000€ so it's not easy for them to see one another. Anyway, as we ended coming back so late I was exhausted (as was Clevins) and so we picked up a frozen pizza at the supermarket and just had that. I'm not letting that throw me off course though! I'm back today with a vengeance! xx

Hey Sophie! Am really proud of you for getting back on the ball with SW so fast! You must be wonderwoman to juggle a new born and dieting
But it sounds like you really have your head in place with it- awesome :)
Really cool that Clevins has such a unique name too (unlike us Sophie's hahaha there were 2 other Sophie's in my year at school and no bloody duplicate other names! Lol)

Go you for already getting Red days in! I think if I had just had a baby I'd be stuffing myself with pasta for the first year to make up for loss of sleep and general exhaustion haha x

Thanks Sophie! If I'm honest I'm annoyed with myself for putting sooo much weight on, and I actually put on about 8 kgs in the first few weeks after he was born as I was really exhausted and so just ate crap, which isn't good but getting back on the scales was a reality check! I'm trying to be not quite as obsessed as last time, when I wouldn't have forgiven myself for a frozen pizza! I think that's what slimming world is meant to be like, flexible & forgiving so it really can be a life long plan.

I did a red day yesterday:

Breakfast: strawberries, yoghurt & 2 boiled eggs
Lunch: I really can't remember....but it was free!
Snacks: mango & raspberries, yoghurt, laughing cow lights (HEA1), 3xtucs (4.5syns)
Dinner: chicken leg & ratatouille

And another red day today!

Breakfast: 2xweetabix(HEB) + 250ml ss milk (HEA1)
Lunch: 5% fat mince burger with butternut squash fries + apple & rocket salad
Snack: 2 slices of light leerdammer (HEA2) wrapped in ham, crabsticks, yoghurt
Dinner: hake wrapped in lean bacon with cauliflower & spinach purée

xx

Clevins & I have had a good day, We went to the bank this morning to open up a savings account for Clevins and this afternoon we've been to see the midwife.

I am desperate to go shopping and see my friends and hang out in Paris now. For the last 9 weeks I've been living in my baby bubble and now I'm ready to venture out a bit more. I was so scared to go anywhere with Clevins at first but my confidence is definitely building and I feel I could now cope with a crying fit in a public place (the thought of that petrified me at first!). Anyway I'm hoping some of my friends will be free this weekend so we can get out and socialise, especially as F will be busy with basketball all weekend.

F & I are thinking about moving back to the UK (I can't remember if I told you already?) I have loved living in Paris, as a student and as a young professional but now Clevins is here my priorities are changing. I want Clevins to grow up close(r) to his family, I want to have more space and maybe a garden and that is definitely not going to happen in Paris. So I applied for a job a couple of weeks back closeish to my home town and I received a letter from them today inviting me to an interview - tomorrow! Obviously I'd need more than 12 hours notice so I called them up and the girl who answered was lovely and I managed to convince her to set up a skype interview for me which has been pencilled in for Wednesday morning. Now I'm nervous all of a sudden and I'm questioning out decision to move! But I'm getting ahead of myself, I need to calm down, prepare for the interview and see what happens. Likelihood is I won't get it anyway! Another thing I'm nervous about is how to do a skype interview while Fabien is at work and I'm home alone with Clevins? Any ideas?! I have images of him howling in the background haha, which he probably won't because he is quite a calm baby. But do I tell them upfront I have a baby? Or is it none of their business? Oh the stress!

Sorry for rambling xx

Good loss! I bet you've found it encouraging.

It's funny how priorities change with a baby. It must be hard for both of you being so far away from your respective families and particularly so now that you have a little one. It's a big decision - and a big step for Fabian. Is there a basketball team near where you plan to live?!!

I don't know what to suggest for the interview. It isn't any of their business - and shouldn't affect your chances - but I'll keep my fingers crossed for a sleepy baby and a successful interview.

Hello, La Parisienne I have just discover your page it is so good!

Don't you do the Extra Easy?

Well done on your weight lose!

Congrats on the fantastic loss!!

I can't imagine how scary it must have been for you taking Clevins out in to the world!! It sounds like you're doing really well and it is definitely time to try something new with him. I hope some of your friends are free for you to spend time with.

I haven't a clue about your interview I'm afraid and I wouldn't know whether to tell them you had a baby or not. I guess it shouldn't matter at all!! My friends sister just got a new job and she's going to be on maternity leave in a week lol! Good luck with the interview.
Oooh if you move back to the UK maybe you could join us on a forum get together we keep mentioning ;) xx

Yay well done on getting a interview. I know I'm going to sound men, but I'd make sure Clevins was ok and put him in a different room than you and close the door, that way if he does cry you won't here him and you can concentrate on your interview, after all you are doing this for a better home for you all x
