spelt bran?

I somehow came to own 500g of organic spelt bran (a friend has been found wheat intolerant and shared) and wondered if anyone has tried it in place of wheat bran (if you're taking wheat bran, that is). I'll be making muffins tomorrow and will try them with the spelt instead of the wheat, which I've been using regularly since the start. A brief search tells me that spelt bran is slightly lower in carbs (30g per 50g as opposed to 38g per 50g) and sugars (>1% as opposed to 4.2%) than the wheat bran, with fibre content about the same. I understand spelt is an heirloom grain recently re-discovered and it's supposed to be very nutritious.

Not tried the spelt bran but in my pre dukan days i liked spelt rissotto. Nice nutty flavour to the grain, worked a bit like pearl barley.
Be interested to see how you get on with the bran. I use a little wheat bran in my muffins for texture and that works ok.
