STS and controlled weight gain thread.

Yeah I've been on slimming world for 2 years, lost 4 stone and had weighed in at my lightest in 10 years the week we conceived lol

I'm not too big on crisps but once I get the taste of wotsits I can eat bags and bags so I avoid them like the plague!

I don't crave chocolate but I do crave just something sweet a lot which is where the jelly helps lol

Well done on losing all that weight! I've never tried slimming world x

I'm same I could happily go forever without crisps but as soon as I have one that's it I can eat loads, so I just try and avoid all together haha x

Aw lovely, August is a lovely month for a baby, my 2yr old is 15th August and it's great for birthday parties etc :)

I would be interested in seeing that link as well!

My mum wants me hold on for a September baby she's a nursery teacher of 40+ years and says early September babies are much brighter than late August babies because August babies are the youngest in the year and September are the oldest lol. I don't care my birthday is January and it sucks! Lol

I think it's wrong to say they are much brighter, they arnt at all they are just as bright as the kids born a few weeks before them, they just have an advantage as being the oldest when you are 4 and other kids have just turned 3 makes a big difference, they even out after a while! If I look at people I know the ones with best jobs etc have no pattern between their birth month, I'm September birthday and was always clever but dh is July and was in the middle, I have hardly any qualifications where he has them coming out of his ears and a brilliant and highly skilled job so don't think it makes that much of a difference once they have all settled into classes they are taught the same things it's the individual child that can understand or not.

Oh it's only for the early years, August babies catch up development wise by age 5. She's taught over 1000 children over the years, I trust her observation but at the end of the day I don't care what month or say my baby arrives as long as he or she is healthy!

All I mean is they arnt any cleverer it's not like if the baby is born late it's going to be super child cus it's born in September, it would be the same as if it was born in August, but they then have the advantage of being the oldest in the group rather than the youngest, I don't think August is anything to worry about like you said they even out, Infact I think it might work better for my LO as he's so competitive he will come in to his own when there are other kids that are abit ahead of him x

I didn't say cleverer I said brighter, in teachers terms that means the child comes in with a basic knowledge of numbers and colours and is talking in sentences and is out of nappies. September babies have a year longer at home to develop than August babies - its only natural for them to be further developed as they have had longer to hone their basic skills, it's has no reflection on how clever the child will become.

I would use both word to mean the same thing, I don't think i would send my child to nursery of they couldn't do those things either as they wouldn't be ready! I have heard on the news of people sending kids t nursery that arnt potty trained I find that quite shocking! It's not the teachers job to do that is it! My LO has had all those skills for a while and will only improve up to September so sure he wont struggle

I cant explain what I mean without it sounding wrong lol! What I'm trying to say is obviously the September 08 child in a class with an August 09 child has an advantage, but the September 08 child is just as bright as an August 08 child if you put them together, If you get what I mean x

My mum has had more and more children each year still in nappies, they get sent home until they are potty trained. Dummies is another one with children using them as a crutch it stumps interaction and speech development at nursery age.
