Susie's 2022 campaign

Morning all - or sabah el khair, as they say in Egypt :)

The second candidate wasn't great either, but I think we've found another solution - I was on the marketing grad intern panel and the woman they chose was fabulous. Both roles are part time so we're going to ask her if she would like to interview for mine - which would give her a full time week in terms of time and pay, and give us lots of flexibility - so cross fingers she says yes. Because then it's all sorted before I go home!

Late start today, had a lovely sleep in and cuddle with Orbit - and then I've got two blissful days of not much - which is good because it's forecast to p*ss down - again!

And just to rub it in - here's my tailor made tour program for Cairo, just received this morning from a lovely man called Walid who is the second highest rated tour guide in Egypt, according to Trip Advisor -

Ooh that sounds fabulous, Susie! I've always wanted to go to Egypt, but don't think I could take the heat (or the walking, lol). :) xx

Ditto :) It does sound utterly gorgeous, take lots of batteries for your camera :D xx

That sounds like a great solution to the work problem too, hope the lady's up for it :D

It should be a bit cooler in November. Tracy - at least that's what I'm hoping!

I've also warned the lovely guide Walid that I'd like to do a bit (cough, read lots lol) of shopping - I've read online that you can pick a fabric and have it made up into a tunic in no time, even in jumbo size :D

That reminds me of my brother in dubai for business :D it was like 30something degrees and he happened to remark how hot it was and they all looked at him like he'd grown a third head and said 'come back in summer. this is our winter.'

I couldn't cope - hate anything above single figures ;)

Egypt sounds lovely! Don't count on it being cool though, when I went (on Christmas day) it was blooming boiling!! :D

Oh lordie let's hope it doesn't get too hot - and at least I get driven everywhere like lady muck in an a/c limo :D

Had a quiet weekend talking to my two closest mates about what sort of woe to go for - and we came full circle back to cc'ing. It doesn't exclude any food, there's no joining fees, I can do it anywhere....as one friend said about SW, "Given the chance to eat a bucketload of pasta, we would both probably do it!", and she's right.

So I still had my naughty brekkie (bacon and egg on toast) from the uni cafe this morning; a lightish lunch (not that hungry after breakfast); and skinny tagine for dinner - a double portion if I want (it's all just veg) - plus loads of fruit and yogurt - and (so far) about 800 cals left so I can graze tonight if I feel like it - although the zero noodles fill me up, I don't usually feel like grazing! :)

This is really the way I want to eat, so I need to up the exercise (does anyone else have red patches on their shins? I've had them for a while, I think it's being fat and not exercising, lack of circulation or something?) AND cut back on alcohol (although my brother and I have been known to stack away a fair amount of red wine...).

Hope you all had a nice weekend.

I have to admit I've not known anything work for me like CC has, and like you say - it excludes nothing - and if you up your exercise you can add extra on too... it's brilliant :) Sounds like you've really made the right choice for yourself :) xxx

You know I'm a huge fan of calorie counting, Susie, so I think you've made the right choice, lol. It's true about it being very flexible, but also controlled in terms of making you exercise portion control. :) xx

I can't say anything that hasn't been said above. You know I'm a fan of calorie counting!

I really do think it's the most flexible plan out there and the one that teaches you how to eat 'normally'. I'm glad you've come to a decision!

Well done on your 2lb loss :D

I'm also very very jealous that you're going to Egypt, I've always wanted to go but doubt I ever will (can't even leave my house most days!)

CC seems to be working for me :) It's great because over time it'll teach us how to eat 'normally' (I hope!)
I have tried VLCD's and that doesn't teach you anything about how to eat properly, and all I'd do when I fell off the wagon was stuff my face full of carbs.

Morning all

Thanks for your support (as always) - I can't guarantee that I won't change my mind again hehe but let's hope sense prevails in this head of mine and I just keep chipping away at Mount Felsham :)

Feeling quite blue this morning though and shed some tears when I heard the news about Robin Williams, depression has robbed us of many more wonderful performances. RIP Mork xxx

So, food today -

B - instant oats (119)
L - Cauliflower soup x2 (maybe), plus 4 Kallo rice cake thins; , raspberries and pineapple and coconut yogurt (423)
D - More tagine with green beans and spinach, and miracle noodles (303)
S - 2 apples, four multigrain crackers (209)

Total - 1,054.

What do you think - does it look balanced enough, and what else can I add to get the cals up?

Maybe more carbs? Or are you trying to stay low-carb?
You could have bread/bread rolls/pitta bread with your soup.
And potatoes with your tagine.

Nuts, boiled eggs, small piece of cheese are all pretty good snacks.

CHOCOLATE!

:17729::17729::17729:

Hahaha Stacky that made me laugh :D

Oooh yes Blue a bread roll would do nicely. I LOVE bread, could eat it at every meal but I daren't. I've just remembered, I've got squash pieces in the freezer so will add them to the tagine mmm. I love eggs too so maybe will have an omelette (with cheese - swoon!) for brekkie tomorrow.

It's also the one we can keep doing when we hit maintenance too - and know it'll work :)

Would Yoghurt help? :) I try eat a fair bit of yoghurt-y stuff for my reflux and it can be quite low in cal or high depending on the type you go for

I love yogurt too, have a 120g tub every day - at the moment am loving anything with coconut flavouring :)

I supplemented my tea with 3 low fat sossies cut into chunks and tossed into the tagine and it was luverly :D

Just had Mr Tesco deliver my last shop before the trip - yogs, salads for lunch, with a piece of brown bread, Tesco Healthy Living meals for dinner - £1.20 each, bargain, and they taste nice too - and I can add zero noodles and veg to them to pad them out if need be. Plus a month's worth of cat food, cat sticks, cat litter, cat litter tray liners, cat dry food and Dreamies...phew, think HRH Orbit is covered anyway :D

Little minx has taken to jumping up on the kitchen dresser and two nights ago she knocked off a lovely white teapot which smashed everywhere. She's normally so careful and I couldn't figure out how it happened - until she came to inspect the pieces on the floor. The teapot lid has a ceramic bird on it and of all the chunks on the floor, she nudged the lid! Call me crazy but I think she must have recognised the shape and tried to catch the birdy! I bought a new one last night (£7 from Tiger :)) but it's going in the cupboard this time!
