Syn or no syn?

I was reading that fishcakes can be syn free, or relatively low syn depending on the type and the plan.

I'm looking at sainsbury's basics on the green plan as I can't figure out EE (don't ask me I've read that thread dozens of times, just not going in), and just rough calculating is they are 4 or so syns each if not a HE.

So are they free on the green plan? As they are white fish and potato with very little breadcrumb?

Thanks for any help

There's no way they'd be free on green as no meat is free on green. I doubt they'd be a HEX either :(

See this is the thing that gets me, if I could only figure out the EE.

White fish is a healthy extra say 113g of hake or so what I have says and potatoes are free anyways. The breadcrumbs are pretty negligible but I was giving them 2 regardless. So they might be, low or free depending.

If you look at the ingredients there will probably be oil or some sort of fat so the best thing to do is to run the NVs through the syn calculator rather than guessing x

If your using white fidh as a hexb on a green day you need n ida of how much fish is in the fishcakes. If more than the hexb allowance you'll need to syn some of it.

Simples for this meal have 1/3 superfree and count as EE day. You are allowed just 1 hexa&b on EE.

But there is still the need to check what the ingredients are as said above there could be oil in!

I had a look at the ingredients for Sainsbury's cod fish cakes online (this information will also be on the packet) and there is far more in there than just fish and potatoes and breadcrumbs. Here are the ingredients: MSC Certified Cod (Gadus morhua) (42%); Breadcrumb Coating (24%); Mashed Potato (20%); Rapeseed Oil; Water; Double Cream; Parsley; Cornflour; Salt; White Pepper; Nutmeg.Breadcrumb Coating contains: Wheat Flour, Water, Cornflour, Salt, Yeast, Sugar, Paprika, White Pepper, Spirit Vinegar.Mashed Potato contains: Potato, Cows' Milk, Butter, Salt, White Pepper.

According to SW these are 3 on green or ee and 4 on original.

I don't think you can count your hex into processed food though so you probably just better off synning them.
