The First Diary of Trudy C age 40 something!

Strange how the mind works. To look at conso from my side of the fence it reads when on conso only difference is piece of cheese a day, veg daily slice of bread daily and a piece of fruit. Oh and a gala meal. Sounds easy....but all you girls have felt the same, our heads are our worst enemy, Trudy after all the weight you have lost your determination, and commitment to change your body, you'll crack this and get shot of the head gremilins for good xxx
 
Sooooooo finding conso just a bit hard - sorry to moan girls.... Got in last night and wanted to devour the entire fridge but again I knew it was a mind game not cos I was hungry....... Didn't have a very big dinner tbf though and maybe that would have helped!!!!!!!!!! Gonna do PP on Friday this week as out tomorrow for a meal!!!! Finding it all a bit tough! And to think I was desperate to get here!!! LOL!

yes I know exactly where you're coming from. For me proper conso after months of cruise was easier (than it is now) and I was still in a 'diet' mindset. But NOW... exactly those same problems - the thing about the cookie jar was a good analogy! Plenty of full cookie jars in our house!! Especially as I really need to get back to my target weight I should get back on strict conso to lose a bit ;-) but it takes all I can do not to gain! PPs (did mine yesterday) are easy still, but other days... I do occasionally get hungry if I don't get round to eat on time but the snacking episodes (or the two pieces of cake instead of one) are nothing to so with hunger...

And yes, the "you are allowed this but only once/ in small quantities" is the element of restraint that was missing from the diet before (if you don't count the tolerateds which are indeed limited) and that needs to be learnt and practised now in Conso. Hang on in there you CAN do it!!
 
I totally see that, Anjuschka. I think initially I shall just treat the fruit, bread and cheese like vitamin tablets - something to be taken daily but no more. it goes on a heck of a long time, though - hard to think like that about food for 200+ days. Stabilization is when the stable door really gets flung open - God help me then.
 
Oh Sara be grateful it is only 200 odd days!!! My count is 645 days of conso - if I get through that then hopefully I will be in stabilisation!!!! LOL!
However it was another day battling through conso - was driving most of the day as had a horse to take to a new home.... Road was awful, really windy and narrow and went on for ever - poor horse - only his second time in a lorry - not sure he will be so keen next time! Stopped at a garage and got some turkey and ham and AN APPLE!!!! Then when I got home off to Sainsburys to get the shopping for Scotland trip. Then made muffins for the week, some BBQ sauce, chicken and tofu creme.... Think I have packed enough clothes for the week - hard to know what to take when the weather could be rain or shine!!! LOL!

So now had all the different food things involved with conso and really can say hand on heart that the very best thing I had was the apple today!!!!!! Funny how I thought I would drool over the cheese/bread/ starchy food etc but no, the apple was amazing!!!! Oh and the gala meal wasn't bad either! Out tomorrow for a meal - going to a steak place so that should be nice.
Another side of conso I am not looking forward to is WI - obviously I went 5lbs below target thanks to the dreaded bug and I really do feel I have picked that weight up again and I am trying to be realistic about it but it is hard!!!! I don't want to put weight on!!!! GRRRRR!
 
If you do put on a little Trudy your still 5lb under tw, but Ellie kept losing in conso, hopefully you'll take after Ellie. Have a great trip to Scotland. Did I miss your post...did you get your part in Annie? xxx
 
You're not supposed to lose weight in Conso, that's not the point of it! I think your weight should fluctuate by 1-2lbs either side of tw, but no more. If you're getting heavier than that, you're taking too many liberties with portions - that's my understanding anyway. You can tell I've just been reading the book! Useful to remember though... Take care xx
 
Oh no I was on the panel choosing the cast for Annie- not doing this one -always hate it when they start a new one and I am not doing it - miss it soooo much but lots going on until October so rehearsals would be exhausting and I would miss a load!!!

I know I shouldn't lose weight on conso Sara but I do feel like I am putting it on - being v v careful with portions and weighing bread/cheese/pasta....... oh well we shall see!

A busy day at the Royal Welsh today but our horsey was soooo good and looked beautiful..... She got third in her class but we were delighted as the two above her have already qualified for HOYS so not at all shabby!!! Finished up by lunch time which was good as we were able to get home in time to get the lorry turned around ready for leaving for Scotland in the morning... Finished up by 6pm which was good going!
Went out for dinner with my friend Jenny but forgot it was Three Choirs in town so it was packed out!!! No where to park and a nightmare - also all the restaurants were full!!! Eventually got a table at 8.45 so was fairly hungry by then!!! Had a fabulous meal which was everything I wanted it to be - perhaps ate a little more than I should have but didn't gobble everything in sight and I didn't eat the choccy at the end!!! LOL!
Was thinking about what Sara said about doing conso fully and that is what I am going to do from now on!!!! No more panicking and worrying about it - gonna do it proper and see what happens - the good Dr hasn't let me down so far!!!!!

645 day of Conso, Trudy! My God - shows how far you've come, though. I think committing fully to Conso is the way forward, otherwise there's the temptation to keep cheating slightly then keep trying to be strict to compensate (yo-yo-ing??). Follow it to the letter and see what happens, but I'm sure it will be fine - as you say, The Doctor's been right so far! Enjoy the weekend xx
 
Arrived in Scotland after a good drive, stunning scenery and weather tho a tad colder!!! Went for a v brisk walk after we arrived which was lovely. Did a PP day today as missed it yesterday, was a bit wobbly this morning after last nights gala also weighed today as away now for the week. Showed a gain of 4lbs which is kinda what I expected, so still below tw but hard to accept a gain, I think today's pp would probably have knocked off a pound but we will c next week!!! As I said following conso to the letter from now on!!!
Showing tomorrow, not in the ring till 1pm which is v civilised! Ellie think the Olympics a bit more fun than border union!!!! Lol, we will meet some day for our slice of tablet cheesecake!!!! Lol!

Trudy do you find that the day after a gala meal you are craving all the wrong things? Not had a gala meal yet and dont want it to set off carb cravings?

Good day at the show, horse well behaved, got a bit wet at the end of the day but nice otherwise!
Not enough planning for dukan this time, forgot to get lunch stuff for me, ended up having a burger without the bun, a 100% beef one but still annoying!!!

D - chicken wrapped in ham with Philly x lite/ broccoli and cauliflower with quark and Parmesan/ 2 muffins
A good conso food day! Maybe too much ham? Quark and Parmesan was a lovely mix! Maybe a day in Edinburgh tomorrow? X
 
Hi Trudy, just caught up with your diary & your life is as hectic as ever !! Glad you are now feeling better & I hope you get your head sorted re conso soon. Hope your having a lovely time in Scotland x
