anyone else training for a timed run? I'm doing the Manchester 10k in two weeks eek! (13days technically...)
 
Me too, I'm also doing Manchester 10k. I did 9.3km in 1hr 28 so with luck I'll manage under an hour and a half on the day.

Good luck :) what wave are you in? I did it last year and on the day it's so different to training as theres loads of people cheering you on, every KM there is either a band playing music or a bus full of people cheering. I did it in 1hr14 last year (and got sunburn lol) so aiming for 1hr 7 this year :)
 
I'm very slow, I'm aiming for an hour and a half. I did 9.3km in 1hr 28 today (better than a 10k of an hour and 42mins) so I'm optimistic. It's pink wave.

Youre not slow that's a good time to aim for :) by the sound of your runs so far you can deffo do it :) I haven't done a 10k yet in prep and am heavier than last time I ran so I really don't know. The shower they have at 8km is a lifesaver just remember to not go in with headphones if you take headphones/ go in the big shower as I saw many people ruin their things last year :eek:

Slow is relative. Yes, compared to Paula or mo you are slow. But as you're not on an elite runners forum, that's prob ok!

My current "fast" when I'm doing fast intervals for 1 min is 9 min miles...that's basically sprinting for me.

My knees Are a little sore today. But carrying on through mine usually ease up after a couple of days.

I'm also doing the 10k. Aiming for 1hr 15 mins.
I've only ran 7.5k, mainly because I haven't planned the run properly/haven't had time to carry on.

I think I should be ok on the day, so long as I'm not having a bad day.
 
Just been for my first run since Wednesday - I was AWFUL! Really, really struggled. Ended up having to do 2min run / 1 min walk and repeat. I was running for over an hour only a few weeks ago, don't know what is wrong with me!!

10K is less than 5 weeks away now so some serious work to be done! Hopefully I'm just having a bad day.

I have one day a week where I'm exactly like that, u struggle to do a mile.
 
Really Jennie? That makes me feel a little better that it's not just me! Was so weird, cause I haven't been in a while was just planning on doing 3-4K but even that was totally out of the question! Will go again Thursday, hopefully will be better then! X
 
Don't bear yourself up too much Clareel I think we all have runs like this. I ran 10K a week or so ago and the my next run I couldn't get past 3K. I think sometimes other stuff going on in our lives really interferes with running.

I find when I haven't been out for a while it's a mental thing as well... the voices in my head telling me I can't do it are louder. Hopefully your next run will be a good one and you get your running mojo back!

I did parkrun on Saturday in 33.55. I was so annoyed with myself as I had to walk after the steps and then again a little bit after. Went out yesterday and did 5k in 33.19 so 36 seconds faster... damn the steps!!

I find that when 'im feeling like i'm going to have a good run that sometimes they are the worst, and when i'm feeling rubbish before I go that I surprise myself!
