Thursday Weighers

Hi skinnieminnie!
Welcome to the Thursday weighers club! Nice to have u with us...and well done on your weight loss.
I'm a bit of a serial dieter but trying hard this time, again lol!
I started in Jan and am very pleased with the 1st 10lbs lost so far, and my son joined just after me and has lost 1st.
Having a testing time atm as dad in a hospice but hope to bring him home in a couple of wks, and my dog has mouth cancer, so we are a bit up and down but managing well considering!
Hubbys birthday so the whole family went for an Indian meal last nite, and going for Chinese buffet today! Hmmmnnn....not expecting a loss THIS thursday lol!

Sorry to hear about your dad - hope he improves soon. Very sad about your dog being so ill. Is there anything the vet can do?

Best of luck with the plan this week - u can only do so much!

Well the vet was v reluctant to do anything with Sophie. She offered to refer her to a specialist centre but was fairly sure it wouldn't b in Sophies best interests. Even if they agreed to try surgery it would mean removing more than 1/2 of her lower jaw, and as she's a shih Tzu her jaw is already v small. The tumour is growing daily and is forcing her tongue out of the side of her mouth, and we hav to hand feed her pieces of soft ham. It has started bleeding too. I love her to bits which is why I haven't done what I know I should have done and put her to sleep. I just can't do it, but I'm scared she's close to choking now. She's 13 and isn't easy to anaesthetise which is another reason the vet thought she wasn't portable, and the success rate is poor. Also the op wud have been around 4000 pounds and I am currently working part time so I can help look after dad. Hubbys retired.
Some good news tho....dad shud b comin home from the hospice on Wednesday and then starting some rt for 5 days to help with pain.
Anyway, totally stuffed from bday meal wiv hubby so gona surprise him wiv his bday cake now, open a bottle of wine, and get back on the wagon tomorrow! How r u doing? :)

I know it's horrible, but she's suffering now and going calmly and quietly to sleep would be a lot better than her choking or suffocating..
We'vs had to put 2 down due to cancers ( that I know of anyway, I was 12 for the fisrt one and 26 for the second.. ) and one due to him having some sort of stroke and going blind overnight ( he was in a really bad way suddenly one night for no apparent reason, kept running into stuff, having fits and messing all over etc.. )
 
Oh my gosh skinnydawn - poor Sophie! That's so sad - I can understand delaying the inevitable. It's very hard to let go.

I'm chuffed for your dad though - great news in on the front ;)

Enjoy the cake and the wine then draw a line under it and start again tomorrow :D

Thank you for your posts...of course you are right. I lost my other dog of 15yrs Nov 29th, and we only got Sophies diagnosis just after xmas. She was my favourite Aunties dog, and we inherited her when my Auntie Jose was killed by a botched surgical operation a couple of years ago. I've never come to terms with that, and somehow Sophie has filled the enormous hole that my Aunties death left in my life. She is such a consolation, and while I have her I feel I have a piece of Jose still with me. But I know Jose wouldn't want her to suffer, and nor do I, but my God it's so hard. Thank you again for replying xx

I think this is the place for talking about it. Our weight isn't just because we eat but because we ear then upset etc. And all things related to weight loss or what affects it are welcome to be discussed. It's just been the natural progression of the conversation.

Very sorry to hear about your other dog.
 
Oh me....fallen off the wagon. Not exactly been bad just haven't eaten anything decent today as I have been super busy.
Ah well Zumba tomorrow and back on track....I hope :(

How are you all doing out there?
 
Oh Dawn, you are really going through it at the moment!! I know you have some very difficult decisions to make regarding Sophie. We love our pets as they are part of the family and that makes those decisions even harder. {{{{skinnydawn}}}
 
Hi guys, sorry I havent posted for a bit. I feel really down and miserable :( You know that stuff I private messaged you Honda...well we were at court yesterday and things seem to be going backwards, not forwards. That big black cloud that we thought had blown away, has returned and its blacker than ever!! I really really cannot focus on my eating at the moment. I feel so miserable and depressed, im just reaching for the chocolate all the time. It makes me feel a little bit better, but in the grand scheme of things, its only gunna make me more depressed if I put on weight as well. Its been an effort to even log into here...but iv forced myself, lol.

I'll get back into the swing of things soon enough, I just need to wollow a little first lol xx
 
Hi ladies, u r all v kind, thank you. I'm ok, balancing everything is an art but haven't lost the plot yet which is something! In some ways the diet is a distraction from other stuff, and other stuff is a distraction from the diet lol! Shud b a win / win situation but doesn't usually feel like it. Working o/t this week as dads gotta go hosp every day and I control the non emergency ambulances so atleast I can make sure he gets in and out ok.
Been v gd today with my food...v pleased I feel I'm back into it after 2 meals out in 2 days. How's r u all doing?

hey vicky
hope things start looking up for you soon and sorts it self out, after i had my daughter i had really bad depression and put on four stone coz food made me feel better i completly understand using food as a comfort blanket.
it was my birthday this weekend and ive been soo bad bf took me to frankies and bennys then the pub i was on cocktails then as hangover food had a kfc been so bad will be made up with a maintain this week xxxxxxxx

Comfort food is always nice, but we all know what happens after it :( its just hard to get out of that funk :break_diet:

K, nothing like a spectacular blow out on your birthday to make this all great! The main thing is did you enjoy it?! I think if you had a great time and dont feel guilty then it was well worth it :drool:. Good luck with a STS. :)

I was at zumba today.....it was awful, just wiped me out this week, not sure why? However I get to do it all agian tomorrow ;)

On the plus side I am soooooo excited
:bliss:about the preperation and arrival of my wee boy. Reggie the border terrier will be making an appearance very very soon!! :D
