Tipperary wobbles into 2024

sorry you are still feeling crappy still :(

I defo get motivated when I see progress on the scales too. Daily weighing is okay as long as its not obsessive and change how you would normally eat.
The scales and I aren't friends at the moment tho :rotflmao:

Hope you feel a bit better tomorrow x

Thanks GLL, but thats the thing i dont feel sick at all...nothing, not a thing. The ONLY thing wrong is that i have a swollen gland and quite obvious, you can actually see it when you look at me. Im taking the paracetamol as advised by the vaccine clinic until it goes. Its the paracetamol making me tiredπŸ˜‚

Yep i daily weigh but only count Fridays weight so today is official weigh in day. I still have a bit to go to get back to my lowest this year but i am going in the right direction. Need to get back there before year end or i will be so dissapointed with myself. I havent met my target for the year, in fact i dont even think ive met Easters tsrget πŸ€” but i am smaller and that's something

Food yesterday worked out as
Green or mint tea 6 mugs
Water 2 l including 500ml with chia seed
Chicken and veg soup
3 cracottes with cheese or butter
Pumpkin cottage pie
Slice sour dough bread with butter
And i had some red wine
Bread obviously wasnt a good choice but i needed something with substance

I hear ya with the just needing something with substance.

That's about the only thing I feel I miss out of when on a diet is that occasional meal where you feel a bit overstuffed with stodge.

Just looked up what cracottes are, different brand here but yup, love them! Soft cheese and pair with some soup mmmmm.

Yep low carb enough to sneak in something with a crunch. Lidl do a good version.
Wasnt quite as good yesterday but it was Friday and didnt have takeaway but did have carbs. I was working from home and my office is quite cold. At work i would be popping up and down to the printers or in and out of other offices but at home i just stay at my desk.
Lots of green tea, it was green tea with peppermint yesterday. Not enough water id say but did have 500ml with chia seeds. I had the rest of the chicken and veg soup at my desk at about 11am. Lunch at 2pm was a 2 egg omlette with cheese and ham and some fried spinach with it. The dinner became a packet of crisps and a toasted ham and cheese sandwich....and some wine. I also had through the day 4 chocolate digestives, the pure luxury of it.
Plan for today is to finish the decorations and sort out my office. It has become a dumping ground for everything. The current wave of covid has employers worried and we are been encouraged to work from home. Im very happy to work from home forever but reckon the most i will get it 2 days a week. I have a new colleague finally which is great but she is very green and finding it hard to pick up things. We are the sane grade and should be splitting the job evenly but that will take a lot of time, if ever.
I also need to fill out a job application, im not actually looking for a new job but a promotion where i am and this is the way to do it. They dont make these applications easy and it will probably take me most of the weeknd to get the wording right. Thankfully i can cut and paste the education and work experience sections from my old one.
Thats my weekend sorted, i doubt i will get it all done. I think i might need to go shopping too. I have eggs, a chicken breast, an avocado and thats about it. And i have lots of pumpkin. I might make a spiced pumpkin and chicken soup with some coconut milk... Mmmmmm

Hi Tipp, good luck with the job application :)

and you've your MRI this week if I remember rightly? hope that goes well too.

I too had to google cracottes when I was first reading your diary lol, I like them too but when I eat them I want at least 4  so I tend not to. I used to like them dunked in soup too.

Morning all and it's another Monday. Lying here thinking of all the work to get done in the office this week and knowing its impossible. We have had a positive COVID case, it's concerning but the rest of us seem fine. It means I won't get to work from home any day this week as the laptop is gone.
Had the MRI Friday, the procedure beforehand was mildly uncomfortable but quit sore now with deep bruising, I meant to take some arnica tablets beforehand just forgot. We visited the Xmas market in the city, got to see lots of lights and ate out in an amazing Guatemalan restaurant. Don't know when I will get the results, the consultant only does Thursdays in the clinic so if he reviews it this Thursday it will be the following before he sees me, that's if anything is wrong. Pain hasn't been too bad lately, managed with paracetamol at night. But I don't walk, I now haven't been swimming in weeks, don't drive further than 10km and barely stand up. I go from sitting at work to lying on the couch.
Finally got the Christmas decorations all sorted, only a wreath on the door left to do. Still lots of house cleaning and tidying to do including my office. I have one Christmas present left to buy and 3 to wrap and then the only Christmas thing left to do is bake and cook. Mince pies, quiches, sausage rolls and stuffing all get made in bulk and go into the freezer.
No weigh in no even trying to stay on plan, at the moment just trying to get through each day.

Oh Tipp. Just catching up. That sounds so hard. Impressed by how much you do in the face of such pain. Sending you love and strength over the interwebs.

Thanks, ideally im hoping that if it is a tear then physio can fix it. I dont want just medication and would rather not surgery.
Well at work we had another covid drop so our team of four is down to a team of 2. Its taken a full year to get to full staff capacity and it lasted 5 days. πŸ˜‚ Conversly i got lots of work done yesterday and i didnt have to train anyone, help anyone, answer questions...it was great. I got to sit down, shut up and work. Myself and my remaining colleague where in offices opposite each other. We locked the doors, sanitised everything and them communicated by phone...we could see each other through the glass. No one else was allowed come near us and we both took antigen tests, both negative thankfully. Just as well as due to the storm the covid testing centre is closed. I thought storn barra was due to hit today but weather started to get bad at 4pm yesterday. Ive been awake now since 3.30am listening to the wind go wild. Ive to get to work, only about 7km away but our 2km road could be bad, we have lots of old trees, i havent heard anything major fall. Hope to be home by 4pm or 2pm if its bad but will need to take the phone for emergencies.
Its a day for soup but ive none made, typical, and nothing handy to make any. All i have in the fridge is 3 burgers. I meant to shop yesterday after work but it was too windy and i didnt want to go into a shop until i did the antigen test.
Not sure if this storm is coming your way, it looks like it might blow out over the country.

I think we've got a yellow warning today and tomorrow, there are still a few places here that have had no power for over a week since Storm Arwen, so I hope it's not as bad as that was. It was more the crazy wind that was the problem though. We're Scottish and like the Irish I'm sure, we're used to a bit of wind and rain! but Arwen was crazy, worse than I ever remember seeing it.

Bring on Spring 🀣

Hope you manage to stay clear of the covid

Thanks Chilli, Barra is still blowing outside. It dropped at about 7pm but is picking up again. Our office closed at 1pm yesterday and yet to see if it is open today. We are only on a yellow alert but our whole department was told to shut down as some of it is at red alert

Morning all, well it's been a while since I've been here. Nothing major, just regular busy with work and home and family. 27th December now, Christmas seemed to arrive so quick. And as usual for me I'm in bed planning next year. Today rather than 1st January is when my diet resolution starts. My stats say I am 78.2kg but just weighed in and I'm at 83.4kg so a gain of 5.2kg total and boy do I feel it. I feel it on my neck and can see it on my belly, boobs and underarm.
I haven't been very mobile at all but had been eating too much coming up to Christmas, goodies kept arriving in the office but also I was feeling too miserable to cook properly and was having sandwiches the whole time.
Update on my hip, I had the arthrogram and MRI and it took me a while to chase up the results, I had to call 3 hospitals to find it and then get an appointment with the consultant. So annoyingly the news is exactly as it was 2 years ago when I met the first ED doctor. I have a tear in my hip, but due to lack of proper treatment (been dismissed by two specialists who both diagnosed two different issues,) it has been exacerbated and I now have a tear, that has developed a cyst, a thickened a tightened tendon limiting mobility and localised inflammation in the joint I've to have some cortisone treatment under theatre conditions and then go to Dublin for surgery with a specialist in "young adult hips" .πŸ˜‚
Off to catch up with everyone's news and then back to make a plan.πŸ‘

Sorry to hear your medical news - but also glad to know you have a hip plan. I look forward to joining you on the 2022 weight loss train here on Minimins!

Yep roll on 2022

Today done and dusted and im trying to use up the Christmas leftovers so I can get back to proper low carb eating and two meals a day.
Breakfast was at 10am but I was up since 7, I had parsnip soup for breakfast. Then lunch at 2pm was chicken, ham, mashed potato, gravy, carrots and courgette. Has 2 home made mince pies with custard at about four o clock. At 7 pm had crackers and home made guacamole and a triangle of Toblerone . 2.5litres of water and lots of green tea. Not all the best choices but no constant nibbles and no wine meant it was better than the last week has been. Let's call it a soft launch to Tipperary beats 2022.

Soft launch day 2 about to start.

Last day of Xmas holidays then working Wed, Thurs and Friday and expect them to be bedlam. Major COVID outbreaks all over the county will keep us busy reorganizing people. Then I'm off Saturday, Sunday and Monday 3rd . Monday 3rd will be hard launch Tipperary beats 2022 and hope to be back to 78kg by January 31st.
Plan is sensible eating this week but be realistic as we have a lot of holiday food still to be eaten, not only do I hate waste but we have no room for more food in the fridge and I have no financial plans to shop this week. If I can stay away from wine and get back in the habit of two meals a day this week I will be happy. And drink 2.5l of water daily. There will be drinks and nibbles Friday evening and a sit down lunch with wine on Saturday. Recover and reset on Sunday and then taking 2022 by the horns Monday.

Lots of cooked and raw veg left in the house to use. I've coleslaw and potato salad to use up today, will have that with some cold leftover ham for lunch. I also have a large amount of raw and red cabbage to use up. I'm thinking of making a sort of borscht with the cooked red cabbage and some leftover chicken. Then I also have a large amount of tasteless leftover cooked ham (overcooked it and it fell apart so cooked a second one for dinner). I made Spanish style ham and cheese croquettes Christmas Eve but that only used a tiny bit and isn't shrinking friendly. Options are maybe a minestrone style soup but don't want beans n pasta or maybe a ham n chicken pie with a pumpkin topping. I've over a kilo to use, maybe just lots of omelettes for work lunches and will freeze them, hmm need to think about that. All suggestions welcome.

Going to have green tea with seaweed now and lots of supplements then start on making soup and sorting out my laundry and get clothes ironed for the week.

Chat later.

That's actually incorrect, it was 83.8kg and a gain of 5.6kg and that's my goal for January. To lose that gain which is from 26/ 08 /2021 so one month to shift 4 months, it's a big ask but if I don't try I will never succeed.

I love your clarity and tactics, Tipp.

I have a huge gammon we are still eating. I'll freeze some. Mr AG has sandwiches. I've been having it omlettes & frittata with veggies. I'm thinking of making Mr AG a quiche with some.

I'll also use some chopped up in my next meat loaf. I love meat loaf - another lockdown find. I just do a mix of whatever I have - mince, lamb or beef, sometimes sausage meat or minced pork, and chopped braised low carb veggies. I sometimes use onion and garlic powder, ocassionaly onion but mostly leek. I shape it in a loaf pan lined with clingfilm and turn it upside down so it cooks loaf shape on roasting tray. I keep the fat for cooking with and any liquid for gravy. https://www.dietdoctor.com/search?s=meatloaf Chicken and ham with a creamy white sauce sounds good too. I've learned to use a temperature probe - to stop from overcooking meatloaf https://www.chefstemp.com/internal-temp-meatloaf/

Thanks Ali, I did it in the pressure cooker so checking the temp wasn't an option. I should have stuck with my gut and cooked for what I thought rather than what a recipe said. I've made 5 one egg omlettes to freeze for lunches with ham and parsley in it. And I've made a big pot of ham and parsley soup. It does have a potato base so not keto friendly but one potato for at least 6 portions so if I'm sensible with other food I might get away with it.
