To actifry or not to actifry.....?

I have heard quite a few bad reviews about actifrys, but get insanely jealous when you actifry owners post pics your perfectly fried potatoes... Is it worth the investment? The main cause for complaint is the motor going...
Would appreciate some advice, thanks :)

YES YES YES, definitively the best thing you can buy, The first ones out years ago ahd some problems but they soon fixed that. You can buy it from Argos with a 3 year replacement warranty for an extra £25 if you are worried. You will love it so much , but maybe you could borrow one to see if you like it first.

This ^^^^

Buy the warranty if you're worried about the Amazon reviews, but I have to say what on earth where those people doing to snap/break the Actifry as I have had no such problem.

Can you put a price on health?

I lost 91lb in 36 weeks to go from morbidly obese to normal (and target) and the Actifry cost approx £125 (inc. extended warranty) and played a part in that.

Or less than the cost of 2 packets of chippy chips per week over a year;)

But then again, I am a little bit biased:cool:

I agree, but seeing as half my direct debits bounced this month I'm having to put a price on everything . Thank gawd for green days!!

Cheers guys... think based on the feedback I may have to invest my pennies, good to know about the first models being a bit dicey, that could be where the bad reviews have come from.
Thanks again :)
You can't beat Value pasta Lucky 7! Put it on your Birthday wishlist, or ask for vouchers instead of pressies so you can buy yourself one. Hope next months a bit easier for you
x
PS thats some going Maximus, well done!

I bought myself a Actifry last week and have used it 3 times already and love it. The chips and roasties are great. I bought my one from Argos as if it stops working it will be easier to take back. x

just to be different..........!

Bought mine after christmas costing £123.99. I think a complete waste of money. The chips are the same as done in the oven. I've been told you can do loads of other stuff like chilli's in them. But why spend the money when you have everything to do it in the kitchen anyway!!??
Gutted I have spent that much on something that will ultimately end up in the cupboard. Basically it's a roasting machine that stirs. If you have that kind of cash to spare go ahead and buy one x

Controversial Vicki!
My main concern was the reports I had heard about motors going....I do SW in the oven atm, but they take nearly an hour....

I absolutely love my actifry - in fact in the 3 months I've had it, it hasn't been back in the cupboard. It is used 3 times a week at least.
Chips - take 30 mins for a full load, my oven takes an hour and uses more energy than the actifry
Roast potatoes
Roasted veg (pepper, carrot, onion, sweet potato)
Roasted squash for soup
Roast parsnips
Oven chips/wedges for the others in the house - put them straight in from frozen, no oil, 25 mins and they're done.

I use it mainly because it's more energy efficient than the oven.

Chips are wonderful BUT you must let them dry. Don't just cut them and put them in the actifry. Either leave them to dry or dry them on a tea towel. If I have the syns spare I use oil (6 syns) instead of frylight and they are even more wonderful!!

Nuff said, I love mine!

Same as jaylou - use mine quite a lot for food other than potatoes and 4 friends have bought one when they have eaten chips from our Actifry. When we are away (which is quite often) I take mine to my MIL's so she can use it - she is 90 and finds it the easiest thing in the world to use to make chips.
I always dry the chips then put them in a bowl and pour on synned oil and add different spices - smoked paprika ones are brilliant - to ring the changes.
OH always puts a piece of chorizo sausage when making chips for himself (too oily for me).

I don't have the tefal acti fry but I have the superior (in my opinion) airfryer. This is made by Phillips and is faster! 20-25 mins for sw chips/wedges! Yum yum!

Click on the link to my food porn thread to view the yums!

It costs about £200 but there are always offers! X

Thanks for your views guys... me thinks I may have to invest... although quite where its going to go I have no idea!

Maximus, sponsored by actifry lol

Now there's an idea!

Exactly what I did

LOL you may be doing them wrong then - they taste much superior than SW-style oven chips - not just mine, but I took the Actifry to group and without exception every single person said chips and roasties were far superior than anything SW-style they'd ever done.

Of course it's a roasting machine that stirs, or a air-fryer or dry fryer. Hence the point (and patent). It takes up to 40 minutes (for a full load) because they are not merely dropped in 3l of oil, but coated in 14ml or less.

I think you should pass it on to Lucky7 who would love it rather than it sit in a cupboard unused:(
