I've not tried the cobbler yet, understand them to be an environmentally friendly replacement for cod - any good?

I like em, they are a firm fish with no bones - also called Basa in some supermarkets. Was scared to try them at first as i was a cod/haddock girl but they are really nice - imo. For £3 a bag they are worth a try and if you dont like - give em to the cat - lol!

I usually get a 250g pack in tesco for £2 so this is a good price.

river cobbler?
don't they farm those in some of the most poluted rivers??

I don't know but the taste as if they do, I think they are absolutely disgusting, even my cats wouldn't eat them.

That's just my opinion people...

Tesco have youngs large prawns two packs for £3 yum yum with extra light Philli, dash of milk and some chilli sauce (the stuff u use with prawn crackers!)

cobblers :)

Well, I've had a google, and of course there's plenty of 'info' all of which contradicts eachother.....

Personally, I don't reckon the UK supermarkets (or US come to that) would farm, buy & market something that would have a potential health & safety claim.

I will eat it, as everything, as part of a varied diet
But thanks for the heads-up, appreciate it

Not sure if this is every home bargains but the one in crossgates (leeds) has ryvita mini bites for 25p each (well they did last monday but forgot to post it)

yep, i saw that programme too, shame cos they are a nice price but it put me off.

I think all the negative press is crazy. Could you honestly see huge supermarkets selling something that has been farmed in dangerous polluted waters???

Lawsuit galore!!!!

Watchdog a while ago sent off some of this fish to be examined and found no poisons or toxins.

Finally all supermarkets are starting to put stickers on there fish saying it has come from responsible resources (which means safe). i think its called the asf or something like that.

I think these urban legends do scare people but its ridiculous...esp if your scaring people who love fish but can't afford cod.

You can find all sorts of nonsense on the net?!!!

Lidls - 6 packs Muller light choc selection yoghurts - £3.30ish

Asda are currently selling all the Colman's packet mixes & sauces for only 29p & 50p a packet. I stocked up on them earlier. I have made some gorgeous slow cooker meals from them & they are great for those days when u want to come home from work to a ready cooked meal. They are well worth the syns in my eyes :)
