work related issue.......

Hi guys, would like your thoughts/opinions on the following please!

I have been doing my job for just over 12 months now and I love it, I work as an assistant to a solicitor.

I'm due to have my appraisal soon and there has been talks about giving me more training and developing. I have the qualifications just didn't get a training contract.

Thing is, me and the OH are getting married in September and we are already trying for a baby. I want a family more than anything but I also love my job and would hate to start training and then get pregnant. I won't be able to come back full-time whatever happens as my wages are less than child care costs(!) but I just don't know what to do for the best.

Nothing concrete has been offered yet but appraisals are due to be carried out this & next month.

Do what suits you best NOW!

There's nothing to say they won't offer support ongoing if you worked fewer hours or from home etc.

It also may take you a few years to start a family, so now might be the ideal time to do some work related training even if you do then shelve your career for a certain amount of time.

I wouldn't tell your employer your future plans, just see what the offer on the table is first! xx

I wouldnt say anything. All being well everything will go to plan with your family, but no one can predict how long that could take. Do what is best for you now. They have no right to with hold training or promotion from you if you are pregnant, and you shouldnt sell yourself short on it either. No doubt it will continue to benefit you in the long run as well if you do return to work when your children are older.
