have you heard the saying, 'slowly slowly catchy monkey' well there ya go..doesnt matter how long you take as long as you do it.

if you really want to increase your speed yourll have to think about doing some farlek training (speed work) thatll do it

Be happy for her Tan (through gritted teeth if necessary) and rest assured there will come a time when YOU could do a na na na na na .. but you won't because you will have the moral satisfaction and know that the universe has done its' job xxx

It doesn't mean that she'll be any faster than you over a distance Tanya so don't worry......she might not even be able to run the full 1/2 marathon!

Harriet has suggested that you try Fartlek interval training, it's worth a try...

Anyway, think how much you've achieved so far, could you have even imagined that you'd be able to run at all a couple of years ago? You've done brilliantly, don't let her get you down..
 
I did let it get to me - ran 3 miles in 37mins thats just over 12mins a mile. Absolute crap! I kept checking the time, i couldnt relax blah blah blah.

I am happy for her but it just annoyed me she put it on fb and then texted me to ask if i had seen it when she knows i sleep in the day! Doofus!

How can i run just over 11min miles on a 6mile run but a short 3miler seems to take me longer?

I try to pick up my pace on my short runs but i just can't seem to do it *stomps feet* :giggle: I think im panicking cuz they take down the road blocks, the finish line etc after 2hr 30mins and i want that time and im nowhere near it yet!
 
Will you stop panicking! You have weeks of training left, you are going to lose at least another stone between now and then and there is absolutely no way that it is going to take you 2 1/2 hours, I promise you that!

You'll have noticed by now that you have good and bad days, there are so many things to factor in, what you ate the day before, what you've had for breakfast, how well you've slept........all sorts of things, some of which you have no control over.

But you do have control over your attitude! So come on, positive mental attitude, you can do this and you will do this, with a big smile on your face too.....:D

I woke up in a bad mood as i over slept so lets put it down to that!
 
We all seem to be in a funny mood at the moment......must be something to do with January...or else it's hormones!
 
Its January!! I hate this flippin month! LOL

Someone has eaten my potatoes i was going to have for my lunch - left me 2 in the bag, so kind of them! they weigh at 72g (2pp) which now leaves me 2pp short for today. Dont want to eat anything junky, any ideas guys? x

Tanya, well done on your loss this week. It's all going in the right direction whilst still being able to enjoy life. Set your own goals for running. Your friend can't touch you for achievement when you consider your weightloss journey. Now, that was determination and focus in equal measure.
 
Whoo bit of good news my brother has just beaten B company's 1.5mile run record. The previous record was 8mins20secs and has been held for 2years and he just ran it in 7mins56secs!!!!!!!!!!!

He sure is training hard for his pt instructors course :D proud proud proud!
 
Well rock on little Bro!!! good for him and for your for celebrating his success!! Lovely to see such family loyalty.

Tanya just catching up on here and cannot believe how well you are doing with the running!!! I kid you not when I say I cannot even run the 10yards to my bus stop without breaking a sweat and puffing so stop beating yourself up!! you are doing amazingly!!! PS. Ignore the girlfriend......she is gloating! Wagon!
