Erm, scuse me, "catch up" was a phrase coined by myself and every time you use it, you have to pay me £2 unless you give me a percentage in your phrase business

I'm highly sure he would as well.
He keeps trying to buy me things and has actually got a pot with about £70 in ATM which he's saving up to buy me braces with.
It's extremely aggravating.

Am I being weird in refusing my boyfriend the chance to spend money on me?!
It's just that brace are gonna cost about 4 grand and that's far too much of a gift.
I just can't take it.

What would everyone else do?
If someone you were in a relationship with offered to take you on £500 shopping sprees, buy you a new car, pay for £4000 braces... And he's not exactly a millionaire - he doesn't do badly, but he does have a mortgage and bills to pay.
Would you take it or not?

moral dilemma of the day haha

Me Personally? I'm too stubborn to take money from anyone!! I've always paid my own way, paid the bills, paid my share of meals etc, never had a joint bank account! Maybe I'm not the best person to ask?!?x

Serena you would have all the answers and nobody would get their money back
I'd feel guilty like yourself especially as i would constantly feel like I owed him back and would never be able to

And then i would be a McMillionaire?!? Yippeeeeee! X

Aw Emma you have to do what feels right and from listening to you for a while now it seems you're really not comfortable with this plan of his. And it's ruining it for it.
What I mean is I think it's sweet when a boyfriend what's to treat u sometimes. I like paying my way and my share but I think treating each other is kinda what being in a relationship is about. But little things. So if he bought you a dress-one dress-when u got to goal then I'd pay thanks-that's lovely.
But to be honest I think I'd feel really uncomfortable with all this much. But that's just me.
You need to figure it out yourself. And talk to him-make him listen to you. No catching up til it gets thru to him. ;)

I have to say I'd be the same... I have to pay my way.. We go cinema he buys tickets, I buy goodies.. We go for dinner I pay half.. We go for a drive, he pays petrol, I buy lunch...
We've just bought a house together n while we have a joint bank account, we both deposit the same amount in each month n it covers mortgage, bills n food.. Whatever we have then in our own accounts is our own business.. I have no clue what he has n vice versa..
I mean, it is nice to be treated.. Like, I was out shopping the other day n treated him to a pair of shorts.. €6.. Nice treat.. But something huge like that I'd be uncomfortable with... But that's just me..

Brona hunnie.. When you setting off?? Will you be able check in to let me know you arrived safely??

Safe Drive Brona :) Defnitely McCheck In with us Minimins! X

Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way.
Yes... I understand that he's doing it because he wants me to be happy, and me being happy results in him being happy.
But it's just so much.

I'm used to paying my own way as well.
I hate borrowing money.
I owe my mum a huge amount from the past year/18 months where I've been in and out of work.
And I'm slowly trying to pay her back.
But I just feel so guilty taking people's hard earned money away from them.
I don't even like people buying my birthday/Christmas presents.

I do feel that if I take it, then I'd never be able to repay him, not necessarily in money, but in any kind of way in the relationship.
He doesn't see it that way though, so I suppose that's a good thing, that he's not exactly expecting me to pay it back - he's doing it because he wants to.

I don't let him pay me petrol money to go see him, and I buy weetabix & squash for the house regularly because I use it when I'm there, and I feel that covers me using his water, electricity, wifi etc.
If we were to go out somewhere, like when we're going on holiday, we'll split the petrol, and I don't mind little things, like a dress as you suggested Brona, but not a whole shopping spree.

He's just too kind hearted.
He really is adorable and I'm just not used to being treated like it.
I've just got along making my own way.

Thanks for your opinions ladies =)
