20 somethings

Fabulous news muzza! Hey with promotion comes pay rise! Woop. I wouldn't worry with it being so quick, it will just be on available slots, sometimes there are lots of referals, sometimes not. It also is often to do with targets on waiting times for various departments. Just be pleased it'll all be fixed soon :)

Good luck Laura :) food diaries are great for keeping you on track.

Thanks for the Congrats guys, after 2 rubbish months I've needed a good run of losses.

Got an appointment at the job centre for the 22nd :) and my parents will watch Nate for me, last time he screamed the place down so she was just like "ok, I've ticked the box, just go." Which I understand, we couldn't discuss anything and neither could the rest of the building.

Woohoo! That's fab on both counts, muzza!

Well done for the loss, Fran! I should be so lucky, but it's my own fault. I've been super good for the past few days so hopefully it will damage limit. 1 hour to go... Fingers crossed for you too, Laura!

It's annoying about the job - I was really lucky leaving uni just before the credit crunch and everything going screwy. I'd really struggle now, I think. The thing is, being in the Civil Service I know there are loooaaads of jobs unfilled here, but there's a recruitment freeze so we can't fill any of them. We must be saving the government a packet. There were over 800 staff on site when I joined in 2009 and we're down to 380ish (part cuts, part moving units to a big joint location). We've got 40 vacant posts!

That is crazy Emily! It makes no sense to have vacancies but no recruitment. Ahh. Oh well. I'm hoping my assistant manager experience will help towards administration experience - filing, computer systems, stock takes, banking, cash reconciliation, safety reports, staff training and memos and filing those, archiving, creating rotas, taking phonecalls and faxes and conference calls. and with my parent's business, taking phone enquiries, processing bookings through paper, diary and on the computer system.

I hophope weigh in goes really well for you both!

It really does stretch us - particularly as that's on top of 20% staff cuts. The other problem is they freeze recruitment ever 15 years or so, so we have big age gaps. At the moment the top chunk are all hitting 55-65 so they're retiring all over the place! We have another 35-50 band and I'm in what's left of the 25-30 lot. As there's been a recruitment freeze we haven't been allowed to promote anyone, and we've had a pay freeze, so lots of the younger staff at the bottom of the ladder have had to leave too just to give themselves a shot at buying a house. Thankfully someone did an age breakdown and calculated we could lose 40% of our remaining staff to retirement in the next 10 years, so they're letting us recruit 60 people over the next year. Hopefully that will make things better!

Have you got yourself signed up with any agencies, Fran? With skills like that I'm sure places would be screaming for you!

Right, quick dash home for sneaky peak on the scales and a change into something lighter... If it's not looking good I might take holiday...

Lol jenna, January will come round don't worry.

Ah, at least that's some good news. I might look into it, the problem being I need regular hours, regular work and to be able to get there. Times needs childcare with can't drive by only one bus an hour and I become less favourable with them. Really looking forward to the meeting. I've recently become friends with someone who works at the job centre as a specialist in single mothers. I've sorted through 2 bags of documents and re-sorted them so I have my more recent certificates (degree, alcohol license and nvq in retail and wholesale) with my as and a2 levels. Unfortunately my gcses are pre the big move so it will be a while before I can access where they got put. I figure having my as levels onwards should be ok for now. The degree is the main one really. I even found all my training for the assistant manager role. Lots of processing and reports procedures.

So, what has everyone got planned for tonight?

Emily, don't you avoid weigh in missy. ;)

Oh that's good fran she can help you sort t all

How have everyone's weigh ins gone? I just made chilli for dinner and some cannelloni for lunch tomorro I think I've messed it up though we will soon see.

Well done laura x

Woohoo! Well done Laura!!

I went to WI and had lost 1lb! Really happy with that following Burger King, vodka and Chinese at the weekend. It's put me in a good frame of mind for the week ahead. :D

I made Cajun creamy chicken pasta, adapted from from She Cooks, She Eats tonight. I used Mexican fajita chicken pieces, chargrilled peppers, mushrooms, spring onions and broccoli, and used my HexA of Philly Light with an equal amount of fromage frais, squeeze of lemon and lots of black pepper for the sauce. It was loooovvvvely! Topped it off with a Mint Aero mousse. Heaven.

My OH usually cooks while I'm at group (because I don't get home till nearly 8 and by that point I'm a ravenous monster) but I have to plan it! Today I just told him to pick something off that website - but when he sent it to me I had cravings for TGI's creamy blackened chicken pasta so I played around.:)

Yay! Huge well done to you both, Laura and Emily. I know how much it means to you to be back on track Laura and you really earned that loss. Did it tick off any of your goals?

Thank you Fran, I'm so pleased!! Not yet, I need another 2lbs to get my 2 stone back, fingers crossed I get it on Tuesday!! Xx

Thanks everyone! Am about to start getting ready for a day in the pub with the girls I used to work with.

We are going to a wetherspoons so I'm thinking gammon and a jacket pot - unless anyone else has a more exciting suggestion?? Going to stick to vodka and sugar free redbull too, as I know they serve it there! Will probs go over syns but am going to keep track of it so I can make it up between Fri-Tues. :) feeling very much back in the zone today, I hope I can keep it up though, cos I really have been rubbish at the min, feel like I've said this every week! Am looking at this being a fresh start for me this week!

Have also got two portions of last nights cowboy boy in the fridge, one for me when I get in from the pub, one for OH when he gets back before going to the footy - much better than grabbing a burger whilst out! X
