Haha! He proposed on Thursday night, then we spent Friday telling our immediate families, Saturday telling aunts, uncles, grandmothers, then Sunday driving down to visit grandmothers and John's parents. It's been manic!
I got home on Thursday lunchtime and thought we were getting ready there and heading up to dinner in the evening, but then he surprised me and said he'd booked us into the Landmark Hotel near Marylebone, which we went to for our anniversary. It's not cheap, so he left it to the last minute to tell me so I couldn't tell him off! We headed up there and everyone was very smiley, and they'd upgraded us to a suite! We got up to our room and there was a bottle of champagne waiting, so we had some bubbly in the bath and slowly got ready for dinner. We were about to leave and I'd just redone my nails, and he took me by both hands and told me how much he loves me, and then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was all very emotional!
We went out to dinner and the restaurant knew too, so we got a table for 6 all to ourselves, tucked in the corner of a beautiful courtyard covered in fairylights. The waitress brought us over two glasses of champagne with the compliments of the chef! We had a gorgeous dinner just being giddy and enjoying the sparkliness of the ring under all the lights. When we got back to the hotel they had covered our bed in rose petals - very very sweet!
My sister's in Australia until August 2014 and I really want her involved in the planning so we're probably looking at Spring 2015, probably May. God knows what the scales will say this Wednesday - my eating and drinking has been all over the place - but it's about 21 months to the wedding so I just need to eek off 1lb a month to feel really happy on the big day! It starts...
