Consolidation Anjuschka's journey through Conso (closed)

I sometimes find it difficult to comment on people's weight...when they've had a dramatic loss.... I know a lot of people who would hear it as "ooh weren't you big before!" rather than "ooh how amazing do you look now!"....it's a subject needing much diplomacy ....so I don't mention it anymore :) x

Ohh (((LAURA))) - shame on them, I guess they had other things on their mind and you might not have been wearing your slinkiest of Dresses. I'm sure you'll knock them for 6 next time you meet in happier circumstances!

My dad actually exclaimed 'oh wow', he was so surprised.

The chocolate - I have three more left - I managed to ration them to 3 a day... That was pretty hard and I had to resort to eating yoghurt and the odd bit of dried fruit :p I have currently - sort of - cut the cheese from by conso plan (though I had a little parmesan for flavour last night!) to compensate - ha ha !!

:DI don't mind, I think the rest of my family are blinkered to weight gain/loss and am ashamed to say that I pretty much am too. I never notice if people have lost or gained weight unless I have photo evidence of how they were before (so I'm one of those plebs who never congratulate spontaneously on weight loss, I have to be told about it). I just don't think it's on our radars (apart from my Auntie who is very careful about her food intake and always has been - to be point of being unhealthy, imo).

Oh and the slinky dress won't happen, I'll leave that for the others! See, it's my own fault!:D

Yes there is that too. Unless you have my Mum's tact - I have some real gems that I and my SILs have had from her. My Dad was so tactful (saw all, said nothing), opposites attract and all that.

To one SIL on her wedding day evening - "You looked perfect in your dress, N, apart from the fact that you had a roll of fat over the top". SIL took this as a compliment as not too critical, but from anyone else, she'd have been fuming!

To another -
"Have you lost weight, A? It's just that your fat's not hanging over your jeans today"

To me (on my wedding day - seeing me in the dress)
"You look almost elegant". (I told her to make the most of it because it wouldn't happen again;)).

My other SIL is so thin, she always told her to eat more (despite said SIL packing her food away as well as the rest of us, if not more).

We all had a good laugh reminiscing about it!

Diary hijack - sorry Anja:eek:.

I'd buy your mum an elastoplast (mouth sized) for xmas ;) lol x

I'm in the same boat...my mum used to call me hippy as a kid ....you can guess why I'm closer to my dad! lol x

No worries that made me smile too!!

Agree though about the need for tact etc. With me, because most of my loss was in the summer and people only saw me afterwards, many were hesitant in case there was something really wrong health-wise. Once the 'good' news got out they were all congratulating me.

Glad to hear my mum is not the only one with the occasional tact by-pass!

Ok, it's fussy Thursday again.

Looks like this (PP):

B: Dukan bread & vanilla yoghurt
S: baked custard
L: Smoked salmon, cottage cheese, Bismarck herring. Yoghurt
D: Omelette with ham and quark. yoghurt.

I was *quite* good yesterday, but I had my last three chocolates:

Wednesday PV Conso:
B: dukan Porridge & plain yoghurt with cinnamon, fruit juice
S: bread with extra-light cheese
L: Roast chicken and steamed cauli, yoghurt.
S: Apple
D: Smoked Mackerel, yoghurt sauce, Egg, Peppers, tomatoes.
S: 3 belgian chocs. That's the end of those :(

Oh and something else - I'm sure *you* all know about this: side-effects of sugarfree jelly babies etc! Someone offered me some yesterday so I thought, ok sweetener and gelatin, what can go wrong, I'm in Conso! I had a small handful, about 10. My goodness when they say 'excessive consumption can have mild laxative effect', they were not lying (so how much is excessive? More than One? Two?)!! Am I glad I was not in meetings yesterday afternoon, I was producing a lot of air  At least I was not in pain but I had to dash to the toilets twice while doing the weekly shop last night!

Sorry TMI, end of story. I have had sugar-free sweets here and there before, but never with this result... I think I'll stick to Senna if I need to (not now in conso)!

Off to a meeting now, might not get back on for the rest of the day.

The other calling for tact moment is when you think someone might be pregnant but they could have just put on a few pounds!

Ha ha I had that done to me when DD2 was about 12 months old, and I was NOT pregnant :D

ooh the worst for me was with DD....thinking about it....nobody guessed I was pregnant even at 8 months gone :(.... guess I musta been a real fatty for that to go unnoticed x

With no 2 I didn't realise I was pregnant until 5 months and then had him 5 weeks early (or maybe I didn't realise until I was 6 months - they only guessed at 20 weeks!!)

Anyway I must have been sporting quite a girth to not notice a gremlin in my tummy!!

Well when I *was* pregnant with DD2 I really needed to hide it till well past the 12 week mark as I had just started a new job and it was no problem at all. When people don't know you and you're not exactly a size 10 ;) it's pretty easy.

OMG that's my problem - I'm carrying triplets :D (and have been for some time!!)

Feeling Good

Hi, it's FRIDAY, the sun is shining and I have a nice singing Saturday lined up tomorrow!:bliss:

Today's weigh-in was a complete surprise - I've gone back to under 62kg:D. After a lax socialising weekend and a box of chocolates (over 4 days)
:17729:
this came as a surprise but I guess it has something with Wednesdays side-effects from the sugar-free jelly babies!

Today for the first time since about 1990 I am wearing a skirt that ends above the knees! I bought a cheapie plain knit dress in Primark yesterday when scouting for winter coats for DD1 who's growing out of everything at the moment. Didn't even try it on but it looks good today, even my mummy tummy looks much smaller:D. I am wearing leggings and boots with it so not exactly baring my legs though!

So today is a normal Conso Carb day, tomorrow celebration buffet lunch :eating:, Sunday PV.

Today:

B: Dukan bread with Quark and a tiny ts of jam, yoghurt. Fruit juice
S: goodies a colleague saved for me from her birthday yesterday: 1 choc digestive, a few grapes and a small piece of home baked gluten free apple cake.
L: Beetroot and pickled herring salad (yes, again!), Tomatoes and cucumber, bread with e-l cheese, yoghurt,
S: Plum
D: Baked pumpkin with cheese, turkey escalopes in mustard sauce, potatoes. baked custard

Tomorrow:
B: Porridge or bread and yoghurt as usual
L: bring-and-share lunch with my choir friends!
D: I can't remember! I think it's Slow-cooked Chicken in white wine sauce from last week, with Courgette 'tagliatelle'.

Sunday: Leek stew with lean pork meatballs. Everyone else gets rice with this, me probably cottage cheese or/and extra Veg.

Hope you're all having a good day too! Enjoy the weather before it turns again. And have a fab weekend!

PS: check out the [more] smilies link, they keep adding fun new ones to the collection.

Sounds good. Great on the weight, the choc not doing any harm bodes well for Christmas.

You are doing so well. This diary is such a great 'How to' for conso.

Thanks jaqys - as for 'how-to' maybe it is, maybe it isn't! I seem to be able to get away with an awful lot of small cheats (a couple of spoonfuls of DD2s breakfast oatibix, a couple of crisps, a biscuit), but I don't have big blow-outs so maybe that's the trick! And I really really made sure to be 100% on-plan yesterday: I had one sugar-free fruit drop in desperation but no fruit yoghurts either.

But maybe I should remind everyone that this is the first proper diet I have ever done in 20 years. I did a couple of short half-hearted attempts as a teenager and student that temporarily lost me a couple of kilos, when I managed to get below 70 in my very early 20s. My body seems not to be too used to dieting yet, so I didn't find it too hard this time round?

I have a question for the experts - maybe Jo will see this when she gets back. Now that I am definitely not in ketosis (hunger and cravings are back at times), will sticking to protein only still work (like for PP Thursdays) regardless of potential calorie count? I guess if you stick to all those low fat food stuffs you're going to have a hard time clocking up the calories above 1500? And no, I'm definitely not counting but was just wondering. I know that the good doctor has some advice about limiting the salmon quantities on the PP Thursdays in Phase IV (the rest of your life) as it is a bit on the fatty side. Can't remember the limit though.
