Consolidation Anjuschka's journey through Conso (closed)

Hi, it's FRIDAY, the sun is shining and I have a nice singing Saturday lined up tomorrow!:bliss:

Today's weigh-in was a complete surprise - I've gone back to under 62kg:D. After a lax socialising weekend and a box of chocolates (over 4 days)
:17729:
this came as a surprise but I guess it has something with Wednesdays side-effects from the sugar-free jelly babies!

Today for the first time since about 1990 I am wearing a skirt that ends above the knees! I bought a cheapie plain knit dress in Primark yesterday when scouting for winter coats for DD1 who's growing out of everything at the moment. Didn't even try it on but it looks good today, even my mummy tummy looks much smaller:D. I am wearing leggings and boots with it so not exactly baring my legs though!

So today is a normal Conso Carb day, tomorrow celebration buffet lunch :eating:, Sunday PV.

Today:

B: Dukan bread with Quark and a tiny ts of jam, yoghurt. Fruit juice
S: goodies a colleague saved for me from her birthday yesterday: 1 choc digestive, a few grapes and a small piece of home baked gluten free apple cake.
L: Beetroot and pickled herring salad (yes, again!), Tomatoes and cucumber, bread with e-l cheese, yoghurt,
S: Plum
D: Baked pumpkin with cheese, turkey escalopes in mustard sauce, potatoes. baked custard

Tomorrow:
B: Porridge or bread and yoghurt as usual
L: bring-and-share lunch with my choir friends!
D: I can't remember! I think it's Slow-cooked Chicken in white wine sauce from last week, with Courgette 'tagliatelle'.

Sunday: Leek stew with lean pork meatballs. Everyone else gets rice with this, me probably cottage cheese or/and extra Veg.

Hope you're all having a good day too! Enjoy the weather before it turns again. And have a fab weekend!

PS: check out the [more] smilies link, they keep adding fun new ones to the collection.

You are doing so well it makes me feel less anxious about the conso transition (even though I am miles away). Do you do anything special with your baked pumpkin or is it just baked as is?

The pumpkin:

mostly if it's a big one I slice it up unpeeled and pile it into a dish, no oil, maybe some seasoning, put in the oven at 200C for 30 mins, give it a stir, back in the oven until it looks tasty (maybe 30 mins). Then you can just scrape it off the skin.
I roast chicken pieces on top at the same time.

Smaller ones / squash: cut off a lid, take out the seeds, season, sometimes I add my conso cheese ration in there, I guess you could use philly extra-light as well, put the lid back on and roast for 1hr as above.

Hello,

here comes another week. the weekend was good and again pretty full of food and treats.

Saturday buffet lunch I had lots of things I hadn't had since starting the diet - but I managed to stick to one plate full, and not piled high either! I had: proper quiche, potato salad, couscous salad, tomato salad with mozzarella, rye bread, cheesy focaccia, hummus, pate, rye bread. Hmm that reads like 3 meals worth!!
Dessert: piece of the gooeyest choc brownie EVER, grapes, a mallow teacake. Another biscuit with tea later. Oh and some amaretti biscuits! they are ADDICTIVE!
Coming home I had a 'sensible' dukan-friendly meal of leftover chicken stew and baked custard.
Of course I also had another two mini-apple muffins that I had made, and I had another few of those on Sunday, as well as some rice pudding. I had to resort to more dried pineapple when I was mooching around the kitchen looking for snacks!!

So I did weigh myself today and I'm up by one and a half pounds, but the scales were obscenely low on Friday so I'll not beat myself up about it.
Today back to Conso PV+carb:
B: dukan bread with quark and toffee sauce, yoghurt with fresh plum, fruit juice
S: 1 plum, a bit off DD1s WM bagel
L: Soup: I made this Veg soup with added 'soup mix': mix of driend pulses and grains. I decided 2TB of that (dry) would probably be the equivalent to eating my slice of WM bread.
D: Chicken curry and brown rice. Now this curry is not exactly dukan-friendly: made with low-fat coconut milk, sweet potatoes and lentils, I am probably dropping most of the rice portion to make up for that, as there are plenty of carbs in the sauce!

Tomorrow proper PV day, back at work.

I am planning a shopping trip to LIDL at the end of the week to stock up on German Christmas goodies (Lebkuchen etc). Now I have to decide how much to buy, especially the kinds that really only I like (anything with dried fruit or marzipan). Of course my parents in law will come over Christmas to 'help' with eating...

As I said elsewhere I am also planning plenty of biscuit baking - I want to give most of them away as presents, but of course you have to taste test at least one from each batch...

wow anja your doing so well. I find that i am having little cheats here and there too and its not effecting my weight. But the tiny amount of the calories in the little cheats is probably why. Like you say its not like your going all out. Now i eat a mango and it tastes better than chocolate!!!!!!!!! lol

Ok,

back to PV today:

B: dukan bread, yoghurt with sharon fruit, cottage cheese
S: 1 slice no-fat honey cake
L: Leftover PV leek and meatball stew from Sunday, bread with 'egg mayonnaise' dukan-style. yoghurt
D: Roast parsnips with extra-lean Bolognese sauce & grated cheese (the others get spaghetti of course), beetroot salad. yoghurt or stewed apple

Yes I'm overdoing the root veg again, can't help it, it's winter...

AND: I just had two chocolates - they were giving them out all over the place when I went shopping at lunchtime and I could not resist (had to walk past one stand 4 times and cracked in the end!) a 'Violet cream' choc in John Lewis, one 70% dark choc in Hotel chocolat when I was buying a pressie for DH.

So no more treats today (might have to pass on the cheese tonight?)

Another PV+C day gone by and I'm please with my efforts, except for breakfast:

B: dukan porridge, plain yoghurt, fresh sharon Fruit. I absent-mindedly finished DD2s breakfast cereal/porrige, half a small bowl!! Normally I have a few spoonfuls fishing out any mini oatibix bites she may have left! Today I had an interesting discussion with DD1 and wasn't paying attention. Ah well that's today's Carbs done....
S: small slice of fat-free honey cake
L: Winter soup (with some lentils), tomatoes, sliced pork loin, yoghurt
D: Cabbage & carrot stew with a little potato in it, half a 'Bockwurst' type sausage. Stewed apple and yoghurt

I didn't have bread as those carbs were contained in the breakfast and soup, and didn't have cheese as that fat was contained in the sausage...

Hmm I do wonder what Friday WI brings - I really must get back to a little bit stricter Conso! I also have my first Christmas baking session planned for the weekend, at least Lebkuchen are too hard to eat straight after baking!

Tomorrow PP I will focus on Fish as usual, I have smoked Salmon and Mackerel waiting for me in the fridge, plenty of eggs, cottage cheese and quark so I should get through the day just fine!

I'm sure it's all fine, Anja. You ate chocolate last week with no consequences!

Thursdays are getting harder for me - no inspiration for PP days now so always the same old stuff.

I like the sound of that stew, yum.

I love reading your diary. Your meals are always interesting, and varied too. Many of us fall into lazy repetitive menus, particularly on PP, and then moan we're bored with chicken! DUH!

I like the way you have a little of this or that, realise, then correct immediately during the day.

I missed your stabilisation question last week - yes the PP day in stabilisation is far stricter than in Conso. A "white" day - white fish rather than salmon or other oily fish; chicken rather than beef (that'll please some); no "tolerated" ingredients; back to simple fare. I don't think you use shop bought ham etc but obviously to be avoided that day. The strictness of this day is "supposed" to correct any weight fluctuation of the week. It's obviously mega low calorie...

You've recognised that there is a need to increase one's calories by the end of one's period of Consolidation if relative "normality" is ever going to return to one's food intake. Many choose to increase the length of their Consolidation period, particularly if they've chosen to err on the side of caution where the reintroduction of carbs is concerned. Then yes hopefully gradually phase out the sweetener, and move back to a more healthy food intake, avoiding artificial where possible.

When I lost my 70K, prior to Dukan, aside from the daily can of diet coke, I didn't ever use sweetener preferring to use dried (in my muesli) or fresh fruit (as dessert).

Personally I'd like to think that when my "other issues" (in the head!) are sorted, the "rules for Conso" are pretty good for life really for people like me who've never known "normality" where eating is concerned.

I'd like to think though that people like you Anja, who've not dieted all their lives, could return to a more healthy food intake with carbs...

Keep posting! Love it!

hey Robin! I see we're telepathic re PP days!

Hope WI is fine tomorrow - I'm sure it will be, you never seem to stray too far and eat almost everything homemade which surely helps in keeping out any sneaky nasties.

Hope it goes ok for Tomorrow Anja, I am hoping to be back to normal after not weighing for a couple of weeks,(cant remember how long now) I am sure you will be fine, I have fish & venison today

Thanks for all the encouragement! As I'm doing my big pre-Christmas shop tomorrow I'm still deciding whether to buy any/many christmassy goodies that only I like (Lebkuchen, Marzipan, Stollen,...) - until my in-laws get here that is, but of course they can't scoff it all in 5 days (I know we can't, we tried last year...)

Stuff like this (no I'm not getting this hamper, just some similar from a different brand...):
Aachener Printen, Nürnberger Lebkuchen und Schokoladenfabrik Henry Lambertz Henry Lambertz Geschenktruhe - Lambertz Online-Shop

Apart from that all is fine here, feeling positive that I can do a no-treats day today. Jo: re: Stab PP days - thanks for clarifying yes that's what I thought I'd read but not spelled out so concisely.

RE; sweeteners: I'll stick to sweeteners in drinks, as that was already a pre-diet habit. As for the rest, I'll have to see how it goes but I will have to go back to sugar in food if I ever want to have desserts / cakes etc with the rest of my family. In fact I already do - in very limited amounts.

Everyone have a good Thursday!

I'm sure it's all fine, Anja. You ate chocolate last week with no consequences!

Thursdays are getting harder for me - no inspiration for PP days now so always the same old stuff.

I like the sound of that stew, yum.

Thanks Laura the stew was/is easy:

In a dry pan (no fat...) 'fry' an onion but don't let get too brown, add two sliced carrots, and a chopped up cabbage. If likes/allowed, add some diced potatoes too. Add 500ml of beef / chicken stock (just make appropriate amount for one cube, add more water if necessary), season (parsley is a must!) and simmer till veg are soft. Heat some Frankfurter-type sausages in the broth at the end. My kids love this :). Fat content obviously varies with the sausages used, they could also be microwaved separately but the sausages (esp smoked variety) add more flavour too!

I only added two potatoes so I was sure that I didn't go dramatically over any carb allowances even if I ate half the pan! the others had some extra (yummy buttery :p) mash with it.

As for PP yes I agree I'm so used to having my veg now... Today looks like this:

B: dukan bread with cinnamon quark
S: Latte
L: cottage cheese, smoked mackerel, egg, yoghurt
D: Omelette, smoked salmon (cheap trimmings as always), yoghurt sauce, yoghurt.

So for later none of that will be permissible in Stab and I'll have to go back to plain chicken and white fish. And EGGSSSSSSS. Prawns when I'm feeling rich...

The amount of egg boxes my DDs have for their craft activities now is amazing. They don't like it if I buy the plastic 15-egg boxes though, they'd prefer me to buy the 6 or 12-egg cartons :D

some even avoid egg yolks on Thursday PP ...

some even avoid egg yolks on Thursday PP ...

aaargh - no chance. I can't see how those 50 cal are going to make the difference. Have one less biscuit the day before....?!
Ok ok if you eat lots of eggs in a day and nothing else that might become an issue of course.

thanks Jet, yes everything is fine here, just a bit busy.

Friday WI was a blip - as I said I had weighed myself on the Thursday as I couldn't stop myself, and Friday I was waay up on that whereas today I was back to Thursday's 62.2 Definitely STS - end of story. But also shows that we need to look at the bigger picture and not just one weigh-in... my curve now regularly goes up and down 1lb either way. But I do try to stick to one weighing a week though!!

Anyway yesterday was PV:

B: dukan bread + yoghurt with fruit
S: sm pice of honey cake (it's finished now, I was the only one in our family that liked it!)
L: bread with cheese (Gouda, my fave) and marinated peppers (dukan friendly), yum yum! Plus a bit of leftover stew from Wednesday. Yoghurt
D: Grilled Pork Loin, Spinach, cottage cheese. Yoghurt

Today 'celebration meal' day, tends to turn into celebration all day - aargh:
B: dukan porride with apple and quark
S: biscuit
L: Egg, smoked Salmon and herring, WM pita bread (one Sainbury pitta weighs exactly 60gr yay!!), lettuce, tomato.
S: Small piece of birthday cake at DD1's Friends house when I was picking her up from Party. It's so nice to be able to accept such offers of hospitality now :)
D: German sausages, broccoli, cheese sauce and pasta. Chocolate Pudding.
S: Licked my fingers / had a taste when making Lebkuchen dough just now.

Friday lunchtime, enjoying my one-slice cheese Sandwich, I was just thinking to myself that what I was eating then was not remotely 'diet' food anymore. Two months into conso and counting.

This morning's treat snack was a biscuit from a packet I had been saving (and defending :D) since July... Just some Belgian favourites of mine that my parents brought. And it tasted delicious but wow I could actually feel/taste the fat in my mouth - a weird sensation I'd never noticed before (for these biscuits at least)! And then the packet reveals that they are 24gr fat / 100gr! 2.8gr per biscuit. They don't even contain chocolate....
So I think I'll let the family finish those!

And as I mentioned in the Christmas thread I have now started the Christmas baking - mixed up the Lebkuchen dough tonight ready for rolling out and baking tomorrow. It smelled delicious, when I tipped in the nuts the resulting smell was just 'spot on' for Christmas ;). It's a very sticky job so I had to lick my fingers afterwards - yum yum!

I managed my Friday shopping trip too, got hold of a cheap Goose from Lidl. they are smaller (4kg) than the ones you buy from the big supermarkets but that's a good thing for the size of our family, and I spent £20 instead of something like £60 at least, considerably more for organic free-range. On top of that I bougt some German sausages (we ate them today) and a variety of Christmas spiced German biscuits and treats, all safely tucked away till next month now.

Anyway - sorry for such a long post! Hope you're all having a good weekend!

Hello,

today was my PV conso day - slightly skewed by the need to taste the home baking:

B: Dukan porridge with Pear, yoghurt
S: yoghurt - adn one bit of DD2's tastign waffle, she would nto take no for an answer...
L: Pitta bread, lettuce, cheese, cooked chicken, marinated peppers
S: A piece of home made LEBKUCHEN ;-) and a biscuit, and tasting during cutting out and baking...
D: Extra Lean Beef burgers (home made) with grilled Courgettes and broccoli and a bit of diet Ketchup. Lettuce & tomato salad with balsamic vinegar.

Dashed out to the shops this morning, looking for inspiration for my Sister's birthday, and failed. And it has to be posted to Germany next week. So I bought two pretty tins and will fill them with home baking. the first one is full of Lebkuchen now and I have my next baking session already lined up for Tuesday night!

And yes I did go and try on dresses for fun, just some 'little back' numbers in TKMaxx, which proved to me that I am definitely a size 12, and they all looked quite good but I really need to be a bit more picky! Also I'd prefer it not to be black....

I quite liked this one:
Black Shutter Dress

This one looked quite good too, nice cut, but the 'pin' bit itself is not to my taste and I would need to replace that with something else:
Black Velvet Dress With Pin

I also tried on a floor length dress, and it looked gorgeous, but really really I have no occasion for that!! This one:
Saphire Shimmer Dress

Before I went out I tried on my fave old occasion trousers, they are slim-cut side-zip silver grey jacquard pattern, thinking I'd just need a nice top to go with them. Argh - they are like pantaloons
They're about 10 years old, size 16, and I last managed to squeeze myself into them Christmas 7 years ago. Now these I will try to take in! But anyway, who knows when I'll get round to that so I'm back to square one in the Christmas clothing stakes!

Anyway, time for BED! Have a good week everyone!
