Yay welcome back. If Kim guilt tripped you back then that is a litter warning of whats to come. She is VERY good at wrist slapping and very wise with her knowledge and information ;)
There used to be lots of us but I think some folk are takin time out and gettin some head space.
You have did great so far Jen so don't be gettin all disheartened now...I talk the talk but not so good at my own advice lol

Had a good day today though I had 4 sneaky syns that I didn't realise until afterwards...thought Linda McCartney's veg sausages were free...nope, 2syns each. Wouldn't mind but I'm on damage limitation! Could have been worse but I won't be making that mistake again.

How was your day (both of you)?

Loving the gym at the minute (well, when I get there...the idea of going is never fun lol)
Have been the past 2 days and shall be going again tomorrow, also went for a long walk today. Who knew that I don't completely hate exercise!?
 
Well ladies I am setting myself a new challenge. Come 1st November I am dusting down the shred. I need jillian to kick my wobbly bum. Loving the treadmill and can't give it up, esp cos everyone will be treating it like one of my phases but I don't feel pain except my legs. I want my arms and tummy to ache HA HA remind me of this when I am crawling up the stairs on Friday morning.
This gives me more than 30 days if my target date is 21st December.
Tryin to recycle an old dress but its quite clingy and my bum needs a lift. Onwards and upwards!!

It's good when you start. Takes me forever to get going as always feel like giving up but by the end I am buzzing. I need learn to keep it up. You sound very determined, good stuff x

Good for you tho getting into 'phys'.....its the way forward to tight buns!

Like you I seem to get the hangover munchies, but I now have an enforced ban on the devil juice til next April & how great do I feel without! Weekends are now spent out in the fresh air cycling/running rather than doing a jog to the bathroom every 20 minutes revisiting my wine & burger from the night before Haha!

Running is a great all over CV workout Deb & just cos you don't feel the 'burn' elsewhere doesn't mean you're not working other muscles. However its always good to cross train to work different muscle groups.

On the topic of cross training...how long would you usually spend on it? I went on it for the first time today since joining the gym (as the first night I went I was really close to passing out so have been put off it since) and only managed a km on it. It seemed to take a lot longer to hit a km on it than you would on the treadmill but I've been reading comments on the net tonight about people managing 3k in 15 minutes on a ridiculously high level. Obv I'm not very fit yet but it really did seem to take ages to complete a km given the effort I was putting in!?

I really don't like cross trainer. Can do ten min on like the second level. Not good lol

Kim is right...scale hops are the devil. That much so that I wish I would listen to her. Showing 1.25 gain. Weigh in day Friday....eeeekkk
 
Liking your blatant disregard for Kim's scale advice too (obv not the gain)...I can resist everything but the scales! Mine are showing me as a 1lb up from weigh in which would usually have me pulling my hair out but as it's fully deserved (and then some) I'll take it and continue to work my a$$ off to avoid a gain on Sunday!

I didn't hate it as much as I thought I was going to I just never really know if I'm achieving anything on the gym equipment or fooling myself?! I want a personal trainer but supply teaching just isn't steady enough for me to indulge!

Oh don't say it like that lol as I stand on the scales I wish I had Kim resolve to NOT stand on them but lately I can't help it. I would say I have been good. So not deserved I don't think but hey ho will see come Friday.

30 minutes?! She is clearly a fitness GOD! I get so jealous in the gym seeing all these people who can cross train/run like a gazelle and don't even look remotely out of breath...I wish to be like that! Instead, I'm usually in a sweating mess crying for my mum after 5 minutes haha!

You got any plans today? I'm not up to much apart from tidying the house (parents are back from a trip to Dublin) and hitting the gym though it's extremely cold and the idea of having to leave the house is not pleasing me. If someone could teleport me to the gym I would be most appreciative.

Did you not get an induction when you started at the gym Jenna, as they should have advised you how long/resistance etc to workout on the cross trainer? Its really difficult to say how long you should go on it for as it depends on your fitness, what other training you're doing etc, how long you've got to spend in the gym etc etc. You can run a Km a darn site quicker than you could do on the cross trainer, so dont let that put you off.
When I used to belong to a gym I would do the cross trainer, treadmill, rower for 15 mins each & then do it again & then do light weights, but it was time dependent. It is a great peice of equipment as is great for toning your legs, glutes & abs......so get on it & sweat girlfriend!
 
Nope, the girl who gave me my 'induction' was useless...she basically showed me how to use the treadmill, cross trainer and stepper...as in you put your key in and go and then she showed us the same for 2 different leg machines.

I really need to grow a set and ask for advice but because I'm so hideously unfit and inexperienced in that area I feel really stupid and as if they're thinking 'idiot'. I know it's completely ridiculous as it's their job but I'm just weird with stuff like that. I also know the only person who is losing out is me but I shall keep researching online and hopefully shall come up with some sort of plan of attack.
 
Right ladies, let me explain to you about jumping on the scales every 2 minutes............Im a darn site older than you chicks, hence I've been at this dieting/exercising malarky a lot longer than you have! For my own sanity & husbands well being, I have learnt not to step on those little darlings until WI day & even then I need to be sedated to do so lol! The reason being , I know the 'science' behind it & know that your weight fluctuates daily & shows no relation to your true weekly weight & will give you all sorts of horrible numbers that you dont want to see & I cant bear to see those horrible little numbers, so only put myself thru it once a week. If I dare do it & I have, I will have the screaming abdabs, run around the bathroom like a screaming banshee & the husband, dog & cat take to the hills lol!
Girls, if you want to put yourselves thru that, carry on, but its not for me & you do know there is help out there for addictions lol!
