Big Boys Need Love Too!

Morning, I have been playing on Facebook this morning so I took a little while to get here. I have to go on the other computer to play the game I play on FB but I find it easier to type from the keyboard on my laptop so I play my game then switch computers!

I have to go and see our Bupa nurse this morning so that should be fun! I'm quite sure I've got whiplash from a punch around the side of my head last thursday. My neck has been achey aver since and it's now got down into my shoulder and is a little painful :( I'm falling apart here!

Umm, is this still a Big Boy's thread :) I was a big boy, well if you can call a 60 year old that. I left the Army in '93 still very fit as you can imagine, I weighed in at about 13 Stone. By early 2002 I was over 25 stone, how much I don't know as the scales stopped there. I started on the Atkins diet and after about 4 years I was on to maint and now weigh in at 13 st 7lbs. I think staying on maint has been easier than I thought it would be, and it feels great to buy my clothes off the peg instead of having to buy everything from Banks.

Hi Jim, welcome to the Big Boys thread - Or Tyns place as it is now called! Everyone is welcome here and it's good to see another guy on here. Thanks for sharing your story with us and well done on losing the weight and maintaining x

Hi Taz and thanks for the welcome. I'm still a bit amazed that after being on Atkins for so long I have just found this board. :)

Hi Jim. Great to have another chap on here. Martyn has disappeared for the timebeing it seems but there are a few floating around. Massive congrats on your weight loss achievement and your maintenance!!

good morning everyone. i'm absolutely blummin' shattered. didn't get to sleep until 1am. woke up at 6am, managed to sleep again and woke up about 15 minutes ago. wishing that i hadn't, ha. still. it's unusual i manage to sleep in on my day off so all is well. I am off christmas shopping this morning. hopefully i'll just about finish it.

abz xx

Thanks Abz, it's nice to have some one to talk to, especially about a lot of weight loss. I'm the IT Manager for a Health & Beauty retailer, They are all skinnie minnie's around here, never let anything more than a lettuce leaf past their lips. ;)

JIM! WILKOMMEN! Congrats on your weightloss! We're all here keeping Tyn's diary warm for me, he's gone AWOL for a while.

Abz good luck hun, i'm waiting till next week to get my mum and dad's presents cos i should have a bit of extra money put in my account then. however, could it be at a worse time? haha. i'll be STUCK in the crowds. oh well.... must go into hawkins bazaar again and check out tha pinhole camera thing, it's just the kind of thing that my dad would like.

we're here at work sorting out mailing to people and we've got xmas songs on so i'm quite cheerful today :D

Gem glad you're feeling better chick :) xxx

Jim you're in sutton coldfield!! that's about 10 minutes away from me hahaha. we had a brum meet 3 weeks ago, you just missed it! x

Hi Elle, Damn, I would have enjoyed that! are there many people from around here on the board then?

Speaking of which, we are all off to Brindley place to Cafe Rouge for our office party tomorrow evening.

Not very legal ;) still I'm in maint and have been extra strict for the last month so I've lost a couple of pounds of my posted weight in anticipation. I'm a good boy me. :)

Hi Jim - I'm a bit old to be a Friday "Girl" too. At 56 the use of the word girl is just a tad creative  That said, the young folk here on big boys make me feel much younger than my years and hey - age is only a number isn't it? :)

The Brum meet was a great day out. Taz and I invaded from the south west and Abz stormed in from the north and we surrounded poor Elle and kept the cross country railway solvent at the same time. Elle was a fabulous guide and whisked us around central Birmingham, German Market and all.

Welcome to big boys Jim and well done with your weightloss. It's great on here - it's where we all meet up when we've done the rounds so join us :)

Hi Gem, Ah yes the German Market, no doubt I'll be up there tomorrow evening sinking a few Gleuhwine or two.

I think i mentioned earlier that I tried to post a few before and afters, well from something I read it looks like I need to have 20 posts before I can post any photo's.

ooh cafe rouge brindley place... we never got to brindly place as they seem to have come on the COLDEST day of the year, when it was -1 degrees at lunchtime hahaha. i thought the canals would be a bit cold... cafe rouge and the slug and lettuce are my sunday evening haunts if we're a bit bored and fancy a coffee. love that bit of brum :) Do you know if they're having the ice skating rink again in centenary square this year?

hope you have a lovely time at the party :)

it could be 20 posts, it could be 50, i dont think anybody knows hahahahaha. xxx

p.s. jim you sound very in control of this dieting malarky, me and Gem are doing it the healthy eating well and we keep having naughty things here and there hahaha. never mind eh Gem, we're doing it the slow way. I think we'll find it ok when it comes to maintaining this way... :)

Was it Centenary Square? I thought it was next to the Mailbox elle. Oh yes I have been doing this a long time, I am so determined I'm not going to slip back in to my old way of eating. In a way it's quite nice, I can view the odd evening illegal eating without panicking. I'll just go straight back to Atkins induction for the week before Christmas after the office party. :)

so you're doing the aitkins low carb diet then? i did that when i was 15 and i lost 2 stone on it, but the weight slipped off too fast and it messed around with me hormonally lol. plus i ended up with a load of stretchmarks after when i decided to start eating carbs again and put 3 stone back on quite fast - it was not the happiest time in my life heehee. But i'm glad it's working for you, well done for sticking to it and getting these amazing results!!! :) we all suit something or other, sounds like you've found it! we're all on here helping each other out when we have bad days and days when we might have one too many treats etc. they're all lovely on here :) now you just keep posting and then we can have a nose at your photos hahaha!

xx

It WAS cold that day - Freezing!!!!!

Jim - Glad Atkins works for you. I have healthy eating with some treats and a huge dose of life in between - it's a lifstyle change - not new but I haven't done this for many years so it feels newish. I've ultimately got a lot to lose and will be at it for the next year or two but it's getting better all the time.

OK, who's a great donut then - I just had to make a phone call cos I'd lost the piece of paper telling me where we are staying at the weekend. I'm glad I got it right first time cos I had a list of possible numbers. "Hello, have I booked to stay at your cottage this weekend?" Duh!!!!!

Gem/elle, I can't wait to post my photo's. It'll be the first time that anyone will appreciate them and understand just how hard it is to do. :)

Hmmm, senior moment there then Gem? ;)

I lost unbelievably quickly in the six months I spent on induction elle, then a steady 2lbs a week for 3 years on OWL. I moved very slowly into maint because I was scared, but it has worked. I suspect I could loose another half stone and be back to my '93 weight, but my wife thinks I'm too gaunt now. That could be age mind.
