Big Boys Need Love Too!

howdy chaps.

my best mate had her baby yesterday. he's called george and i'm off to see her and meet him tonight :)

thomas got incredible muscle spasms in his neck last night. i was up all night with heat packs and massaging but it didn't help much. i've never seen him in that much pain. he was so white!! couldn't move his head at all in any direction. has been to docs and been given diazepam (which he is discovering is rather good stuff!!) painkillers and deep heat. so hopefully he'll be feeling better soon.

i've had two hours sleep and am in the middle of a 10 hour shift, and then i'm off to the hospital... soooo tired!!

Hello, little George. :)

Congrats friend & welcome baby George!! x :D

Ahh...... that's lovely Abz - congrats from here too x

Morning all!

Congrats to Abz's friend x Poor Thomas, diazepam is evil stuff and should be taken carefully (also make sure you have been to the toilet before bed to avoid bed wetting!). I hope his neck is better soon

I'm with you on the diazepam, I hate it. I hate most medication to be honest, and take as little as I possibly can when I have to.

I avoid medication where possible. I have quite a stock at home from old prescriptions. When I had my knee op I was sent home with 100 paracetamol and 86 ibuprofen. As I had no pain I only had to take 21 ibuprofen (1 3 times a day for 7 day to reduce the swelling) so I had almost all my prescription left over. When I had my neck troubles they prescribed me 100 co-codamol but although I liked the pain relief I didn't like the side effects so I took as little as possible

When you don't take medication often it usually works quicker when you really need it x

I agree with that gem, it really knocks me about, probably because I don't take anything.

I can't even remember when I last took medication - even when I had my back injury I wouldn't take medication cos I wanted to make sure I could feel where the problem areas were and didn't want to do anything to make it worse. I have this theory that pain is nature's way of telling you something isn't right and when it is something like joints you probably need to feel what's happening - If something is "out" you need to know so that it can be put right and masking the pain won't do that.

Having said that, there is a place for pain-killers and anti-inflamatories. x

I agree with all that Gem, some of the girls here pop pills like it's going out of fashion, one girl can't get into work without taking and ibuprofen, what's all that about then.

I had a serious back injury caused by one of the students I work with. It amounted to whiplash causing SI joint disfunction which was very painful and I could stand upright for any length of time. It was a long job to put right and I still have odd symptoms occasionally but it's a mechanical problem and I try to deal with the mechanics of it - the more you mask the symptoms, the more compensation happens and other things go out too

Yes Gem, I have a load of small niggling stuff, mainly Rugby and Army caused. :) I just live with it.

well with my back they give me painkillers as i'm supposed to move around more and keep it mobile but when it hurts so much you don't do it. but they've only done that because moving it can't make it worse. same in thomas's case i guess. but neither of us like taking stuff. i get 100 cocodamol prescribed to me to take four times a day or when needed. the box usually lasts me at least three months because i take them only when i can't move about.

That sounds like a sensible use of painkillers Abz x

Morning all, looks like I'm the first this morning. How's Thomas abz?

Good morning everyone - How is everyone this morning x
